Ahh this brings back memories of BUCS. I got one horse that was 17.1hh for dressage and jumped a 16.2hh. I am 5ft1! Never got through to nationals though but only started riding at uni so was more than happy that I got chance to do trophy regionals. Looks fun!
Couldn’t agree more about BUCS! We always try and remind our riders to judge their own rounds rather than allowing the judges to decide whether they had a good round or not! Looks like you all had a great time🤩 Congrats for even getting there - what an achievement x
It makes me both super happy and sad to see this as I tried out for my uni’s BUCS team when I was an Elementary dressage rider/1m showjumper and I didn’t get in as I wasn’t willing to pony-club-kick the lazy school horses into actually doing something. The ones who were picked were just the people who were willing to kick the hardest rather than actually ride. I ended up only going to one riding lesson then stopped riding during my whole time at uni. Makes me so sad to think if I’d got in and actually enjoyed it my uni experience could have been so different. So glad you have enjoyed your time!
My cat is a fan of this video she's so fascinated by the way the horses moves😂 she just sat beside me watching it on my phone for the entire video...so it's cat approved! (Hello from France by the way)
haha the girl complaining about riding the big cob but that horse is an absolute tank and i've had the best fun riding him in the past. such a good jumper.
The judging seemed dodgy as! That's so annoying ugh. All yours and your teams' rounds in the jumping looked super smooth and well ridden. I've always found judging (obvs depending on the judge) unfair and bias ://
4th aint bad at all!!! bad luck on drawing the bug bay first- you deffo would have won if you were last as they only beat you by 5 penalties, also your sj round was really good! not sure why you didn't get through!!!!!
i don't really get it? if they are providing horses for the competitors to compete on, the horses should at least be half decent or at the level of test the riders are riding. Most of the horses look like they'd grabbed them out of some random paddock and went 'she'll be right'. Well ridden to all the girls, they were definitely not easy horses for the dressage phase, tho the jump phase looked fantastic!
I ride with uni and when we hosted a competition the “dressage” ponies were chosen by “well this one can’t jump and isn’t lame” and the “jumping” ponies were chosen by “probably won’t refuse for no reason” - most of the yards aren’t owned by the uni but are local riding clubs so unfortunately the ponies are riding school ponies as the yards just don’t have the stock to be matching the riders. It’s good fun but as Meg said nothing to take too seriously as you don’t know the horses, the horses are nothing special, and the judges make interesting calls.
your such an amazing rider I wish I was as good as you !!!!! also wish my channel had as good content as your but I will always look up to you as a role model ps why do u call ur mum a hobbit lol xxxxxx
Dear Meg, I thought that all of you rode the course really well, your friend had that unlucky pole because her horse just brought his back feet down too early, you are right that was very odd judging, I think that you all looked terrific. Jane 🐎🐴😎👍🧑🏻🦰
that judging is so weird lol, how did none of you get through to jumping 2nd rounds yet you came 4th, clearly they have favorites but you h=guys were all greats XXxxxx
@@elphick.event.ponies I went to hartpury and it's the same at all land based colleges unfortunatley the college animals deffo do go to slaughter as they have working farms for the ag students to learn on
Hey, I'm sure this was a while ago but just watching it I would love to go there. But I have no idea how to, I am only 14 years old so none of that made sense of what it is but it looked very fun! I was wondering if you could explain how you got there and what University you went to and the courses you took to be able to make horsey friends and compete with them on horses who aren't even you're own! I would love to do this some time in the future! I am extremely jealous that you get to do all those fun things with University rather than being stuck at a desk! Thank you for taking you're time to read this!
I feel like this was more showing and show hunter than dressage and show jumping 😬 just seemed really opinion based rather than actually how well you did
It is due to pain in there mouth or something wrong with there teeth the rider might not know about, it also can be due to pressure on the horses tongue and the more pressure the more there tongue hangs out.🙂The rider might not know so no hate🙂🙂
Yeh often due to resistance or that they’re in pain, some do just have it as a habit though. Obviously not my horse though so not 100% sure in this case 😬
Does anyone ever wonder what the constant of riders do to the horses? I'm very sorry for the horses. They do get attached their riders. My thoughts are with the horses. 🐎🐎💕💕
Having done bucs for 3 years completely agree about the judging, makes no sense half the time. Well done on team 4th

I died when Alex started riding the course with Beka lol!
Literally so funny!

Sorry to hear that, I have heard some uni's don't pick teams very well... You would have got in at Liverpool for sure!! X

Megan, you're such an accomplished equestrian! You are so awesome!
haha the girl complaining about riding the big cob but that horse is an absolute tank and i've had the best fun riding him in the past. such a good jumper.
Megan: I might put some make up on
Me: YOU DONT NEED MAKE YOU PRETTY THE WAY YOU ARE!!! ♡ ♡ ♡
You should do a video on the drills you did in the beginning! That was so cool. Wish I had friends who ride.
The judging seemed dodgy as! That's so annoying ugh. All yours and your teams' rounds in the jumping looked super smooth and well ridden. I've always found judging (obvs depending on the judge) unfair and bias ://
Yea it depends if you have BD listed judges (even if not affiliated!) they aren’t as they are highly trained but if not then can be annoying!
4th aint bad at all!!! bad luck on drawing the bug bay first- you deffo would have won if you were last as they only beat you by 5 penalties, also your sj round was really good! not sure why you didn't get through!!!!!
This looks fun, but stressful haha
Please change your intro music backkkkk I love that song !!! Love you tho well done that must of been challenging!!

Rewatching this is making me stress out for my BUCS comp 🤣🤣
Those calves in crates I presume are for veal. I thought they sucked like that cos they miss their mum and contact. Well done.
I'm not really sure, it's an agricultural college so I don't think they have animals there for meat though!
lyncheeseman that was my assumption too but maybe not

I might go into eventing when I start jumping would you recommend going into eventing :p
Yes I would it’s amazing!I know I’m not meg so sorry!
No offense. I'm on the side of the horses. They can do no wrong. I LOVE horses. 🐎🐎🐎❤❤❤
Welcome back to the RUclips world and you work at Aldi? 😀

Aldi are very popular and successful here in tbe uk
Yeh we have them in the UK, the sponsor a tournament at Uni so we get free shirts to wear! :)
@@elphick.event.ponies Ah cool I didnt know that! That is super funny haha
I prefer the old intro music 🙃 xx
I read that as unriding and wondered what the heck was that
I felt quite bereft when I left uni.
I live in Liverpool and I know what road ur in 😂😂
did u ride an akahl teke?... hehe something with akhal og akahl teke
I think we need the old intro music back....
Good God that gas price hurts my soul. As an American I thought our gas prices were high right now. Id be broke if it was that expensive here.
Your casic chestnut mare lol!!
my mum and dad both went to bishipbertan my mum for the horse my dad for some thing else
Do you ever learn the name of the horse you do the test on? It seems a bit funny for it just be "grey horse"
I feel like this was more showing and show hunter than dressage and show jumping 😬 just seemed really opinion based rather than actually how well you did
I’m back
I hope the university I go to let’s me board and ride my horse 😬
isa it just me or is she wearing an aldi top from australia yet she lives in like britain or somethingg lol anyway im a huge fan!!!
That was such an odd set up...and boots for dressage 🤨 weird! Well done girls
I drew a horse that had been ridden maybe 5 times before...I got bucked off twice in warmup and then got bucked into a wall at my hunter round-
Why was the horses tongue sticking out
It is due to pain in there mouth or something wrong with there teeth the rider might not know about, it also can be due to pressure on the horses tongue and the more pressure the more there tongue hangs out.🙂The rider might not know so no hate🙂🙂
Lauren Equestrian thanks I was just wondering Thankyou
Madyson Arndt or on another note - not to confuse you but sometimes they do it because they don’t want to be in a contact so they get out of it 😀
Yeh often due to resistance or that they’re in pain, some do just have it as a habit though. Obviously not my horse though so not 100% sure in this case 😬
Elphick.Event.Ponies Thanks I was a little bit confused
Haha!!! My uni!!!
Hey does anybody have any ideas for homemade cross country courses because I have no ideas. Also love the video
Does anyone ever wonder what the constant of riders do to the horses? I'm very sorry for the horses. They do get attached their riders. My thoughts are with the horses. 🐎🐎💕💕
Am I the first?? Xx
Nice Aldi shirt or whatever
😂😂😂😂
What did you study at uni
I think in her riding story vid she said it was geography. It might be human geography but I don't remember!
Lol u work at Aldi 😂
18:22 28:52 34:29 🤣🤣
Megan those darling baby calves so innocent will be unmercifully slaughtered for veal- very cruel in my values book-Debra
Ok boomer
The fearful fearless string functionally repeat because fountain pathophysiologically pine qua a berserk citizenship. magnificent, wandering cabbage
Those poor baby calves were sucking your fingers for milk because they have been cruelly ripped away from there mothers. Makes me so angry.😡
Can u just shut up
