      I just use the self timer with a 10 sec delay and the remote! But this is a great idea if you are trying to get different poses or something!

      I do a lot of modeling for my stock photography sessions and I do it with an external monitor and the creators app. Or simply with bluetooth shutter and trusting the autofocus 😂😂😅

    It’s so weird that we don’t have an option to let the camera focus right before the photo gets taken instead of when the shutter is pressed using the timer. That could actually be a selling point for many people.

      There’s actually an option. I forgot where it is but you can make the shutter not fire if it’s not in focus. Then just do af-c

      Using a handheld trigger works well to focus while you’re in frame.

      @@Apollo_Of_The_Artsthat’s unfortunately not how cameras work when set to a 2 second or 10 second timer. As soon as the shutter is pressed it locks focus.

    • @alexmcdonald5708
      @alexmcdonald5708 15 дней назад

      @ yeah mate. I find 1 second is great as it means you arent waiting a long time to pose for each shot. Making it beyond 5 secs means that you arent waiting likely needing to wait/count up to 8 odd seconds to pose so go for a smaller number. I will adjust the focus area on screen with tap area so I know where it will focus and where I need to be and then you can put it on area or wide tracking or all. I think your best success will be taping the area you expect yourself to walk to for greater success

    Great video Teppo! Just a small suggestion: the title could be simplified to ‘How I Take Self-Portraits’ since ‘self-portraits’ already means they’re of yourself. It might make the title a little clearer and more concise. Love the tips you shared-very inspiring!

    I have a Nikon z6 II and a z8. I don't think either camera will keep focus without pressing the bbf button or half press on shutter button. The focus box will follow the subject if it detects it even if it's slightly out of focus but i don't think it will auto focus on its own. The z8 does have a mode where you can make a customized box and set a focus trap. It's great for birds. It won't take a photo until something is in a specific area where the box is before it will take a photo. You can leave it ruining like that for hours untimely the battery runs down. That may be what I have to do. I know in video mode the focus will track automatically. I'll have to look into this.

    My Fujifilm Xt3 is the only camera I’ve ever used where when it’s on a timer it still tracks your face to focus. So I’ve always been able to get awesome shots with it. My EOS R I usually connect to my phone to get the timer. The focus point tracking on it works great!… went it works lol 😂
    Teppo, can you make a video about how to pose for self portraits and things like this? It’s like, I can pose other people for photos but I myself have a hard time posing for the camera 📷😂

    Hey Teppo I have the Sony A7RIII and I use RMT-P1BT remote commander while using interval shooting. the only requirement is to AEL/W Shutter turned on in the camera and it allows you to refocus. Hope this helps.

    • @_roshi

      hi! how are you using the interval shooting and a remote together?

    • @RealBennyMars
      @RealBennyMars 17 дней назад +1

      @@_roshi You technically don't have to use the interval shooting. I only used it to take burst of photos. if you want to take single shots you can use the RMT-P1BT remote commander with the "AEL/W Shutter" turned on and that should do it because at least for the Sony A7R3 it will use eye-autofocus.

    • @_roshi
      @_roshi 17 дней назад +1

      @@RealBennyMars gotcha, was just wondering how you’d use both together. the benefit of the interval shooting is not having to have the remote in your hand. I will have to look into options for the a7cii as no intervalometers work with it afaik.

    Ooooh, that’s a really good idea :) too bad sony doesn’t have a setting for autofocus on/off for time lapses, but that external thing came in handy :)
    Since I’m still using my phone I just use a bluetooth trigger and lock in the exposure, often triggering the bluetooth trigger on the floor with my toe when I need my hands in the shot, it’s handy but it works :)
    Oh, and happy new year :)

    Thanks a lot for the video. It is helpful, but there is only one but ... do you know any intervalometer for Sony A7C mark 2? I bought this camera last year hoping for the great AI focus... to discover the problem you mention in the video... I couldn't find any intervalometers for Sony A7CM2... I am considering finishing my Sony adventure and move back to old good reliable Canon. Thanks a lot for any help!
