I had the great job of removing about 50. 2-56 screws that a guy used red 271 loctite instead of 222 purple. Drilling out stainless steel screws out of an aluminum piece really socks! If you don't know , 2-56 screws are about the size of a pencil lead
@@RobertSmith-tq6mfto see at that point you just get out the angle grinder or equivalent if you're not working with metal, and then just replace everything
That rivalry between Ford and Chevy is one of the best. My best friend was a Chevy guy. Of course I’m a Ford guy. after 50 years he finally came over. He Has a Ford Bronco now. Your channel,Matts off-road recovery channel is some really great stuff. Oh yeah, don’t forget the guy with the jeep 😂 and the other big guy trail Mater. Fab rats, you guys are the best. Love your videos. God bless. Oh yeah, your wife and family are adorable.
My brother in law is a farmer in northern Illinois. He was a diehard Chevy man. One year he bought a Ford truck. Now all the vehicles on the farm are Fords.
While you are correct in saying that the bottom of your differential casing is the limit of your ground clearance, what you have done with that low crossmember is going to destroy your ramp breakover angle. It's going to make heck of a difference to the Broncstar's off-road ability.
Robby, you're wrong. To clear the front or rear diff, you can drive up on a rock, log, or anything that will lift one side or the other. The mid ground clearance or your break over clearance is dictated by your wheelbase, and your tire size, as well as your static height of the lowest point of(usually) your skid plate. I am at 23"" on my skid plate, when my rig was 108" wheel base, it wasn't much of an issue, but when I linked it and stretched it to 120" wheel base, it made a lot of difference on break over which has caused me to turtle several times. I'd ditch the double cardiian (sp) joint, they just don't hold up. As short as the Bronc Star is, just make it a two seater, and run a rear radiator, which works great for an open rig like the BS, in the winter you can reverse the fan connections polarity and let it blow warm air into the cab, works great for defrost too.
You guys need to look at a timing cover, water pump and serpentine belt setup off of a 1996-2001 5.0 Explorer. It’s a very compact setup. The intake and heads from the Explorer 5.0 are also something you might want to look at. They are the “GT40” heads and intake, they make more power than the truck parts you are currently running. Best of luck with the build!
@@MrDan1509That's possible, but if you watch the videos where they are running these hard, they aren't exactly staying in the "low-end" for anything. Low-end torque or high-end horse power, aftermarket would be better than either stock intake for that. The Explorer acessory drive would be much better setup for that chassis though. I made the same comment on the last video, but I doubt they looked or cared. They'd rather beat their heads against a brick wall making what they have work. I know the type, I work with a bunch of them and can be one myself at times.
I laughed when Robbie said you guys should tap every hole. I had a 67 Ford shortbed hotrod and every time I worked on a different part I would chase threads. Always made next time easier.
The Broncstar is all Ford baby wooo! There is absolutely nothing wrong with a small block Ford! There are like a zillion aftermarket upgrades for that engine which im sure will happen in the future 🤠
Thinking back to Hillbilly’s Bronco daily driver, the transformation to become the Bronc Star is impressive. Further, it’s cool to see Hillbilly’s excitement in having a strong crawler. Thank you for sharing with him.
Have Hillbilly run that radiator over to Paul at Fab Rats. He moves inlets and outlets on a regular basis. Maybe get a little collaboration going with him. Great video, I hope Summit Racing helps out with a few items for the bronc star as well.
So this is why your floor is so clean and polished, you slide yourself underneath plenty of times Cheers Guy’s all the best from one of your newest subscribers.
Thank you for showing so many redos. I feel better knowing even the best have to make changes. As an aside, wasps love to live in tubes that are uncapped.
You can have a “alternate key” set up for your kids on Ford. That will limit speed, will not allow the radio to work if seat belts are not buckled”, and other functions. FYI. Great video’s … do you ever sleep? 😊

It’s soothing hearing Robbie endlessly quote fractions with his measurements. I have no idea what he’s talking about but it reminds me of my grandpa making things in his workshop.
Yes you're right when the front axle climbs over a rock it then disappears and will never catch on that cross member 😂 I'm going to coin a new phrase I'm going to call it "high centered" it's going to mean the middle of the vehicle is stuck on something and the tires aren't getting traction 😅 totally picking but you'll find out
Its true you only clear what your axle clears except for your break over like climbing over a large boulder and you belly out. But you have to do what you have to do wo make what you have work. But it would benefit if you were able to raise it. Belly clearance is completely different than axle clearance for different reasons.
Green loctite is permanent. Used for installing cylinder liners into engine blocks. Red requires heat to break loose. Blue is removable with hand tools
HillBilly !!! You stay with your Ford family !!! I have always been a Ford guy, then in 1975 I married into the Ford family !!! Of course it was the Pinto side of the family, not the Superduty, Power Stroke side, but all these years later it’s still worth it !!!

Robby, as the best painter in all of Ohio and possibly this side of the United States I would love to make a few videos of us painting either together or against each other no one does it right around here but me so it makes my stuff look that much better than others cause I simply do what should be done and don’t cut corners
I get that you take pride in your work, but to most, this comes across as very arrogant. I'm sure you're a good painter, but maybe you keep this out of YT comments.
OK Robby, with all the toy's and tools you have ,why not a inexpensive lathe, there is so much you can do with it. Turning rotor's, drive shaft's etc. etc. etc.
Not really, the higher you get things in the center of the vehicle, the more clearance you will have for your "high center" stuck point. If you know what I am saying. Your pendulum point is now taller.
Red Lok-Tight high strength, blue is medium, purple is low, green is shaft seal(almost impossible to get off) Orange holds like red but removes like blue. Great video!
Just chop the complete front section off and extend it a couple inches for a regular radiator. Transfer box seems to be tucked up/protected by the bar mountings? Might just need a skid plate to protect the casting just in case. That drive is a double cardan joint.
Good job guys 😊. And I’m interested in taking classes from Layton university. Actually I’ll send my wife. She cleans and polishes the cars and trucks and I fix and maintain them. Thank you.
Green is the one you need heat to get it out if your lucky , Blue is for screws ( Light duty ), there is red for bolts .(medium duty) 2 ,3 of each colour different applications for each. On a drive shaft the slip joint never goes to the diff end
In non vibration connections green is the hardest to remove you need both heat and torque to remove ….we used it on timers and any connections that once set they never need to be adjusted again…Red is similar to green but will also take vibrations so perfect for places where you can’t get a wrench on later to check tightness…Blue is a slight weaker then green or red..normally great for smaller bolts and install chrome parts etc where you don’t want to heat to remove….. I use red on my motorcycle motors and blue for frame fenders flares etc…still do a week tightness check on street rider..
Yes Robby you can only clear the differentials BETWEEN the tires. But everyone knows you need as much clearance as possible between the axles to roll over obstacles. So yes. That crossmember is really low.
No mechanical challenge is too great for Hillbilly and Robbie. If a part doesn't fit and mate up they just grind it off and reweld in a part that does!
Green Loctite is used to take up slack in a bearing fit. If you use green Loctite on threads you will remove the threads from the bore and fastener when you take it out, even using heat. I've had to use heat to take apart blue Loctite.
I forsee a video in our future where Robby and Hillbilly regret the excessive use of red loctite😂
Yes, soon they will be buying the special wireless bolt heater you use on new Fords to get the bolts out.
I forsee a video in our future where Robby and hillbilly just throws out the motor and transmission because they can't separate the two.

Take the radiator to Paul Cox. He can convert it for you, so the connections are in the proper location.
