@@jefflamoreaux682, That's quite simply a shitty thing to say. Stuff your blanket statement. Every 'upper middle class American' I know would be in sufficient awe of this beautiful and powerful natural phenomenon. You should know that America certainly doesn't have a monopoly on yammering and rude people. I'm an upper middle class American I suppose and I was immediately appalled (at the beginning of the video), when these people stomped down the ramp and started yapping and blabbering. The profanity was much the more rude of course, but the serenity was killed with their damn feet.
If you ever get the chance, go see a glacier in person, no video does it any justice at all, not even close. The glacier cracking is so insane sounding, it's legit like an explosion, you will never hear anything like it anywhere else. I cannot express just how amazing these things are in person, they are so much bigger than you think
I watched 4 minute of this and the moment it started happening I couldn't hear anything but some chick laughing. Damn it I just wanted to hear the ice break. Great thanks for that!
These glacier calving videos are so interesting. You watch the video closely and see the cracks, the ice face starting to crumble, it tumbles into the water, and then people start making funny noises.
I’m assuming the chunks of ice surfacing were the chunks that fell into the water and were just so heavy they spent a long time under water be for resurfacing? Is this right
My gracious! What a beautiful lookout! My dream is to see a glacier…meanwhile there are people in this world that drive by their local glacier, very casually, every day 😑 Your so lucky! Especially to see the ice calving for the first time in millions of years! This usually means.. the glacier is expanding ☺️
Glaciers never really stop calfing and they do not go millions of years without calving unless earth is in a snowball earth phase and our planet is covered in ice from pole to pole, which has happened twice that we know off so we can be certain that it can happen again.
I've seen some of these videos where huge pieces fall away and flip over to regain some equilibrium, lifting up 100s of thousands, maybe millions of gallons of water that cascade with a roar over its sides. ;-)
The fix for your “wtf” comments can be corrected by muting the volume when watching these videos or stick to documentaries on the Discovery channel. Guarantee the guy filming for them will not be swearing on those films but they will also not reflect the real interaction and feelings people have when as it unfolds in front of them. The real commentary actually makes this a more real and intimate experience.
Imagine having to. Traverse something similar to this glacier on foot. Having ropes and flimsy aluminum ladder stretched. Across crevasses. Now imagine you are over2 miles above sea level with a decreased oxygen concentration and temperatures anywhere from below 0 at night to 60 in the day. Imagine walking on a glacier as it creaks and moves. Welcome to the Kumbu Ice Falls. Your first stop on a trek to summit Everest.
It's amazing how quiet everyone is until the beauty of nature starts talking, then the rude ass, humans in the vicinity has to interrupt mother nature at some of her finest times!
I bet somewhere in this comment section somebody says something so intelligent about "global warming". What you should focus on is the intelligent dialogue. lol.
@@tejeilusion5460 amazing!!!! I think I’ll take a trip there soon!!!! When is best time for visit? I won’t be a typical tourist I promise!!! Let me in on the real good viewpoints lol!!
I'm from the south here in the great state of Tennessee and my language really can get pretty bad, but even us southern boys have enough respect and we're taught to keep that kind of offensive language quiet. Guess these videographers parents had no clue on manners to pass on to their children!
I know right and of all the STUPID questions to ask when a chunk pops up out of the water "Where is it coming from?" HELLO....ITS NOT COMING FROM THE SKY IS IT SWEETHEART
There are probably more powerful words to describe these marvelous events. But if one doesn’t have a good command of the language, then gutter talk and swearing is what’s used. Too bad the vocabulary is limited and not beautiful.
Gotta love how people in the comments completely disregard any level awesomeness from glacier collapses. They're clearly taking nature for granted at this point. Who cares about the subjective opinions. It's still beautiful and cool to look at. Lmao We could make diamonds in all these tight asses!
yeah, ignore the incredible natural drama unfolfing in those few moments and just complain about how the people laugh and oh my God, the humanity, they used some cuss words, stop the world so the Karen's in life can feel totally comfortable and not have to be exposed to such crudeness. Amazing how myopic they are, really no more than aged spoiled crybabies.
Oh noooo lets disregard global warming and ocean levels rising, and the ice caps that reflect sunlight thereby keeping the planet at normal temperature levels. 🙄🧐
Human 1: “What da want to do today?” Human 2: “I dunno, got any ideas?” Human 1: “Well, we could always go down to the ice field and bear witness to the destruction of the human species.” Human 2: “That sounds cool. I’ll bring the video camera.”
"Are you filming?"
"Yes, please stop swearing."
I agree.
If only they hadn’t talked
Upper middle class Americans always have to make a statement.
And it became sociopolitical for no reason ahah
Video nice. Blabbering profanity 😡🙅🏻♀️

Yeas, cause I never speak when I witness natural phenomenon of this scale.
I was lucky enough to visit Perito Moreno in 2015. It remains one of the greatest places I have ever visited. Great footage. Thank you!
I love how loud it gets when the waves start coming to shore. Drowns out the non-nature sounds. 😁👍

It's okay to watch without sound.
1:55 Just love how you hear the birds before all of that happen. Nature is really awesome.
I enjoyed watching the glacier but these people sounded like they're never been out of the house before.
first think I thought when I watched the video. All these "what the fucks" and "what is this?" like they don't know.
Foul language takes away from it. Had to mute it.

A miniature of this happens in my rock glass every time I have a whiskey.
Good scotch will do that
the correct title should have been "...miniscule calving".
It’s amazing how important it is having a giant layer of ice on the earth. And what it can tell us too.
What does it tell you?
@@oldnick4707 yeah I’m not gonna do this. Watch the video dickhead.
PSA…don’t smoke marijuana and then go watch glaciers
Incredible footage!
Imbecilic commentary.

Next time… keep the chatter and swearing down.

Humans can be so trite.
Why do people sound like yapping coyotes when they see ice fall?
Advice for the authors - think before you think, let alone say something.

Yall complaining about them talking. Dont act like you wouldnt be saying "Oh wow" and "omg" while seeing something like this... 🙄
No need to use that sort of speech,in the face of such greatness, great footage but you need to put some glacier in your mouth.
Did you just say -
Holy, Piss in a Pie, Batman...?
LOL
Wow, the splendor of nature is... well it’s splendorous. Or is it splendiforous??? 🤔
And a couple of weeks later at the shore of Battery Park NYC, no one noticed but.....
Why are they laughing. I don't see anything funny about this.
When you curse we stop watching. I can not show this to the little children.
Yea, the people ruined it. How about trying to enjoy nature and shutting your mouths?
ITS SO LOUD. Mother Nature is SO COOL!!!
No need to point , we see it ! 😂
