TV shows and movies are relatively new in human history. Every year the total amount of recorded content increases. This makes it harder and harder for broadcast TV to compete with the internet (with the exception of sport and news - where timely content is important and old content doesn’t provide the same level of competition).
We opened our economy to the world in the 80’s. The consequences are still present. Many businesses have gone bust because business models weren’t sustainable and now we go cap in hand to the government. Why? Media, car, eventually banks and potentially many more industries will struggle because we’re a small population that doesn’t innovate. Commercial television isn’t competitive in a world where consumers can customise their media coverage. It’s not the government’s fault. Innovate or perish. Technology companies succeed because they place the customer first not profit margins. Good luck and enjoy the journey
I'm from Tasmania. Most of these channels just broadcast seconhand content from Melbourne and Sydney. They're not protecting regional communication. Streaming platforms like RUclips however are doing a great job of broadcasting regionally produced content which traditionally would have never seen the light of day.
Stop blaming your failure on Facebook. You wouldn't have any traffic to your boomer content without social media. Why can't you compete on equal ground with other online Aussie creators? Maybe you should consider why that is.
Surfing all the TV Industry forums It wasn't just that MDV wasn't making a profit but also their transmitters were close to needing a full replacement due to age no doubt due to the loss of profit they didn't have the money to do this, Now It's a wait & see what will happen with the licence It could be just desolved & deleted from the Mildura/Sunraysia TV1 Licence Area Plan.
@@kreagle the landscape of TV has evolved significantly in the last 10 years as internet has sped up and streaming has come online. Channel 10 not airing in Mildura is not just indicative of how many people are watching but archaic tax structures as a result of old laws that haven’t kept up with an evolving landscape. Country viewers pay the price for this, not the network. Is that fair?
Pity networks aren't able to produce content that people want to watch.

They can but it's all about $$$ they simply don't want to.
I’m gonna cry if channel 10 goes bankrupt 😭. They are the only network that can properly produce Survivor to stay on the air throughout the years :(

Good. If more broadcast moves to the internet, frequencies are freed up for other use.
No good at All have you Say that
Its all on Ten Play isn't it better to watch shows when you want not when these stations tell us?
They will have to go online to get their "the project" propaganda and news stories that are just commercials.
1.7b goes to the ABC, yet the government won’t keep the lights on for channel 10, which would be
Didn’t realise tax payers owed commercial industry welfare.
@kreagle taxpayers' money is gifted only to Qantas, banks and businesses the government deems too big to be allowed to fail 💰😉
Channel 10 has plenty of US money keeping them from bankruptcy. That's why non ratings primetime show like the project is still on air.
