My dad has this car and it's been in the family for 16 years and it never broke down , so I really don't understand why people say french cars are unreliable
@@chickmagnet3149 this. With proper care, they really aren't that bad. You just have to put in a little more effort than with German or Japanese brands. Hell, sometimes they don't even ask that. Some Peugeot models from the 70s and 80s are STILL wildly popular in the third world.
My grampa bought the 1.5dCi Clio in 2004 brand new from the dealership, since than the only "major" service done to it was the timing belt and a water pump. Never broke down, burns little to no fuel and wont ever let you down. It was the first car i learned to drive in, I am driving it currently and will be driving it for a long time. Love it so much
@@bogisa96 The adrenaline of you trying to merge and thinking is my engine weak enough to go behind that truck or fast enough to go ahead. And then you think there's no way I'm going ahead even if I floor it, and then a miracle happens and suddenly you are at 140km/h
I have this car since 2004 , I bought it new (I mean no second hand) and I dont want to buy another one in my 42. I absolutely love it. I take care of filters , oil, etc regularly and it works smooth. Some electrical problems only in all these years that were about 400-500 euros.
I got one like these, just with 1.2 engine when I got my license. I sold it like a year ago to my work collegue and it still drives without a single issue. I have Astra J GTC now, and it's night and day difference, but Clio will always stay special to me.
I have the 1.2 16v 75hp petrol engine, same kind, 3 doors, she has 247.000kms on the clock; she's a 3rd hand, what i can tell you about the Renault Clio 2: They have a '' sickness '' be aware that the Airbag light can pop up on the dash, it can appear randomly, or never appear; which is good, the problem is the wire under the passenger seat, to fix that issue you'll need to fix the wire, also there is a valve that tend to clog up and make the car lose some power; it might need a cleaning check it for time to time. the seat on some version are very bad; mine is okay-ish not great but not bad... Now for the other things; i have the 75hp but the car can be quite noisy at 130kmh in 5th gear, she doesn't like the wind at high speed, might wanna lift the feet a tad on highway with wind. She has amazing economy of fuel, 95 or 98 petrol is okay, 95 with E10 can be good as well for her, my tip before putting full Ethanol on her is put more and more 95E10 when you wanna go full Ethanol on her, change her fuel filter, also the Ethanol is good; but you might wanna consider the fact a car that does not drive often with Ethanol can be harmful against the engine. Other than that? Nice car; i had an AX before it she had 1.0l engine with 50hp, and i think that Clio has a distinct lack of personality, don't get me wrong, it's a nice car! but here in france, everyone has it, even more i have it white... i mean sure you can add a few things if you want to make her prettier like new era front light, newer wheel, heck even an RS steering wheel; but yeah.. paint job might be the answer maybe if you have the money and like the car has much..
Another failure point of the airbag system is the airbag control unit getting damaged because of liquid getting into it (it's located behind the cupholder)
I have a 2007 Clio mk2. I love the engine sound and the comfort, doesn’t rattle at high speeds, even at 80mph it’s all good. However the gearbox and the driver/passenger windows are not the best
Loved the "sport" version of this generation: It didn't look much different than your mom's shopping car but would destroy many supposedly sporty cars of its day. By the way: I'm pretty sure NO Clio 2 weighed 1435kg and the base price wasn't 17'800 either.
2:16 , 2:34 , 4:37 - at first I thought that it seems to me, but the car has a very heavy detonation ... it seems that someone poured high-octane fuel where it was not needed ... horror

how is 58hp on highway fun? wtf is wrong with you

@Daniel Agostinho ok lol
I have 64hp Fabia and its very bad for highways. It needs a bigger engine and 6th gear for that.
