    Commentator at 6:39 : "It's a position where you cannot fight, it doesn't matter if you are the best player in the world or not."
    8 minutes later : "It's a draw."
    ...
    It seems that ultimately it matters :)

    Carlsen's problem solving ability is immense. Aronian came out nice and put him in a strange position where theory kind of went out the window. Only resourcefulness could of pulled out the draw for black.

    How come that the clock at 7:16 is at 0:00:00 already but the game continues? Thanks. I miss something. Thanks

    • @nouahlevi
      @nouahlevi 8 лет назад +3

      +Andreas Hoppe becuase the actual clock next to the players hasn't reached 0:00 yet. The computer clock doens't take into account time added back on after each move. So whenever Carlsen makes a move time gets added back onto the clock but the computer clock doens't keep acocunt of that.

  • @jayzinho1885
    @jayzinho1885 9 лет назад +2

    Can somebody explains how does the clock work please ?

    • @vanwan7610
      @vanwan7610 9 лет назад +1

      Well the animated clock you see on the virtual board only gets updated when the players press the actual clock, but the clock itself the person who is to move, their time starts ticking down, once they press the clock the other persons time starts ticking, and back and forth. If you run out of time you lose, unless your opponent does not have enough material to checkmate. Then it is a draw.

    • @jayzinho1885
      @jayzinho1885 9 лет назад

      Thank you Zach, but here it seems a lil bit different because they can earn time when they press the clock, how does it work ? Moreover, At the end magnus had no time left in his clock but he kept on playing, why ?

    • @vanwan7610
      @vanwan7610 9 лет назад +1

      I believe they are using an increment time system, where every time they make a move and hot their clock, they earn a couple seconds. A popular increment time control is 3/2, meaning you start with three minutes, and gain 2 seconds each move. I am not sure what increment setting they are playing though.

    Why did he go king to h8 and not Queen a6 and threaten that undefended c4 pawn. Then his knight and queen fork either the a2 pawn or the c4 pawn which could gain in material? Am I missing something? If white knight defends then black swaps knights and gains pawn, and an A file queen, or white allows black to take c4 with the queen.

    Save all the videos and all the games of MG. When he is gone, that is all we will have left. We are witnessing the greatest end game player of all times, to say the very least.

    • @N0lico
      @N0lico 9 лет назад

      +NIA Mac Yeah sure - this guy play good, he is "the greatest ever", and after 2 weeks you will see that GM from China - he is "the greatest ever" ... AT LEAST 10 CHESS CHAMPIONS WERE GREATER THEN MC, so shut up...

    • @naldebol
      @naldebol 9 лет назад

      I was very specific. MC is the best end game player of all times.
      Second, indeed, MC is the strongest player of all times. I am using his rating to back that up, and I am also using the fact that became the World Champion at the youngest age according to record. He reached the top before he hit his prime, which means a great deal. His improvement will still climb LONG before his age becomes an obstacle.
      He has not achieved as much as Kasparov, but MC is almost there. But make no mistake, you take any previous world champ and match him vs MC and MC will beat all of them. He is stronger than any other player right now, or stronger than any player who has ever lived.

    • @bektasuteubekov5788
      @bektasuteubekov5788 9 лет назад

      +NIA Mac Of course he is stronger. Level of chess games is permanently developing since it has been invented. Any IM of 1970-s could beat Capablanca, Morphy, Lasker. Any top player of nowadays could easily beat Fisher. Because everything is leveling up. Development of opening theory, ending games tables and most important Computer analysis of games. It's incorrect to compare players of different times with each other just looking in their playing level.
      In my opinion, we could compare them by their ELO's ratings relatively to other players of their time (and this measurement will also be not correct)
      My choices are Kasparov, Rubinstein, Morphy, Capablanca, Bronstein, Tal, Fisher, Karpov, Aronian, Carlsen. They are the greatest, imho

    • @naldebol
      @naldebol 9 лет назад

      Well, I do agree on, at least, the point that chess is permanently developing to better levels of play as time goes on. The thing is that level of play, the next greater level, is done only by the very very best during the specific period of time. So, for example, no way an IM from the 1970s would be Capablanca in a match of say 24 games (the old World championship format) in his prime. Nor would a GM rated 2400 today, for example, be able to beat Fischer in his prime. Casablanca and Fischer, for example are the two players in history who compare extremely well with what engines of today suggest for moves. They have the highest match of moves. They have an extremely high natural strength.
      Kasparov is another extraordinary example. His calculations are so deep, and his intuition so attuned, and his amazing gift for "smelling" the opportunity for initiative, attack, and counterplea, is still second to none (the closest rival in that category is Tal ). But his out of this world memory, which has been proven, also pushed him greatly to be the player with the best opening preparation of all times and who knew how to play any position as good as the other best players.
      Carlsen is a player that has no equal in history. His strategic mastery is still today so vastly deeper than anyone else. His extremely fast processor of intuition and strategic overload means he can outplay just about anyone in positions that are completely DRY, SIMPLE, or equal. He knows how to create something out of nothing with the speed of light, sort of speak. In his matches vs Anand ( the former king and holder of the title "fastest player" on earth ) Carlsen was almost always so so far ahead in time on the game clock.
      Also being the best end game player, BAR NONE, is evidence that his tactical and strategic ability is still several levels higher than anyone else. To be able to play the perfect end game in most of his games is a sign that his level is something which will be a hard thing to duplicate by any other player even in the future. It is also a sign that the middle game to him is as easy as say, learning how to develop.
      End games have the most complex tactics in all of the phases of all chess games. Carlsen can sift through all of it by mere strategic intuition which is proven by checking the tactics behind his ideas. The scary thing is he was already doing this while he was a very LITTLE BOY. For example, he navigated seamlessly through a very complex slav vs the world number one, Kasparov, when he was just a very very young little boy. He missed the WIN out of an inaccuracy. But wading through a complex slav like that vs the best "difficult positions" player of the world was a titanic feat.

      +jilow wrong estimation. simply rook down to protect bishop. pawn at e6 is immuned from capturing because of black's bishop will then be hanging. so that will be very stupid move and not a game.
