Not necessarily. The original rocket makers, the Chinese, didn't use math for that. There are plenty of people who have invented stuff without doing the math beforehand. Come to think of it, most of them were like this. Math is a representation space where you represent the real world. You don't need to necessarily think in terms of representations in order to make sense of the real world and invent new things. Otherwise, everyone'd have amazing ideas all the time.

Well, I guess that's considering they perceive, think or abstract things the way we do it. Remember that reality depends of who observes it. If an alien race, for whatever reason (may be the environment they've evolved in or how they've evolved to interact with it) perceives reality differently from humans, perhaps not even the fundamentals are the same, perhaps the way they understand the universe is not the same, and perhaps they don't even have a form of maths. And as far as we understand, life would evolve in a similar way in other parts of the universe. But since we're the only planet with life in it as far as we know, we can't be 100% sure. That's why I said that if for whatever reason, the environment that another species have evolved in or the way they've evolved to interact with it, is completely different, their way of perceiving things around them in order for them to survive, would be different too, then everything changes. High school I was failing math, I'm currently doing my post grad in mathematics. The factor that prompted the change that math is can be used to model and understand any situation. It takes time to understand but if you prioritise understanding over getting good grades trust me you will find a whole world of understanding

The funniest part about this is that math is definitely the thing that would be the fundamental commonality between us and an alien race, maybe not the notation, but the fundamental ideas and structures are symmetric universally
Well, I guess that's considering they perceive, think or abstract things the way we do it. Remember that reality depends of who observes it. If an alien race, for whatever reason (may be the environment they've evolved in or how they've evolved to interact with it) perceives reality differently from humans, perhaps not even the fundamentals are the same, perhaps the way they understand the universe is not the same, and perhaps they don't even have a form of maths. Not so sure of the last one tho, but their maths could be completely different. And I'm not talking only about the notation, which is obvious, but the way do it itself

And even if other life beings on earth don't understand it, also to them because of the way we've all evolved to perceive things around us. And as far as we understand, life would evolve in a similar way in other parts of the universe. But since we're the only planet with life in it as far as we know, we can't be 100% sure. That's why I said that if for whatever reason, the environment that another species have evolved in or the way they've evolved to interact with it, is completely different, their way of perceiving things around them in order for them to survive, would be different too, then everything changes. It's just a possibility

High school I was failing math, I'm currently doing my post grad in mathematics. The factor that prompted the change that math is can be used to model and understand any situation. It takes time to understand but if you prioritise understanding over getting good grades trust me you will find a whole world of understanding

I always had an A+ in math all the way until I graduated High School. Math is not hard for me, but you have to think that we don't all have the same abilities, passion, time, nor mainly INTEREST for something. For example, I know for sure I'm good at the guitar but you probably suck at it

No, it's essential to everything YOU do. For the rest of us, it was just a way to fill up those 5-6 hours we were forced to be at school. I forgot everything the day I graduated and my life has been better ever since.

Well, attending math classes won’t help unless we put time and effort into learning it. And yes, there are many flaws with our education system, but I don’t think teaching math is one of them. It can be very beneficial for people willing to learn it.
I actually used to think math was a waste of time few years ago, but now it’s my favorite. My least favorite science subject is chemistry. I am certainly not planning to use it for my career, but I still think students should be able to learn chemistry at school. Just like math and other subjects.
