The Los Angeles Lakers recently announced the hiring of new members for their coaching staff, in addition to head coach JJ Redick. Among the hired names are former head coaches Scott Brooks and Nate McMillan, along with Greg St. Jean, Lindsey Harding, Bob Beyer, and Beau Levesque. These additions bring tremendous experience and diversity to the team. Michael Wexler was also hired as the chief video coordinator, further strengthening the Lakers' coaching staff. In a press release, Redick highlighted: "Through an intentional and thorough process, we have assembled an experienced, diverse, and dedicated coaching staff. Our goal from day one is to foster a high-performance environment of player development and team alignment through relentless work, daily collaboration, and innovation. Players and staff are here to embrace the pursuit of excellence every time they step on the court. The expectations are clear, and my staff and I are committed to doing whatever it takes to ensure success at the highest level." Scott Brooks brings 12 years of experience as a head coach in the NBA, having led the Oklahoma City Thunder during the Russell Westbrook-Kevin Durant-James Harden era and taking the team to the NBA Finals in 2011. He also had a significant stint with the Washington Wizards. Nate McMillan, with 19 years of experience as a head coach, has been with teams like the Seattle SuperSonics, Portland Trail Blazers, Indiana Pacers, and Atlanta Hawks, where he helped orchestrate the Hawks' run to the conference finals in 2021. Greg St. Jean, who has worked with Frank Vogel on the Lakers and with Jason Kidd on the Mavericks, returns after a stint with the Phoenix Suns. Lindsey Harding, the current G League Coach of the Year for the Stockton Kings, brings strong experience and was endorsed by Redick for the head coach position of Duke men's basketball. Bob Beyer, with 17 years of experience as an NBA assistant coach, has made stops at nine different franchises, most recently with the Charlotte Hornets. Beau Levesque will be a development coach, bringing his experience from the St. John's University Men's Basketball Team and the Brooklyn Nets, where he worked in player development and video. So, Lakers Nation, what do you think of these hires? Leave your opinions in the comments!
