This is an outstanding artist, and an outstanding record of some of his thoughts. Thank you. We should hear more of him and from him. I love his works, and I find it remarkable that somewhere like St Paul's should spend time and trouble to seek him out and listen to him. This, for me, is the spiritual future.
I have just finished watching a number of videos by and about Grayson Perry and this interview is by far the most thoughtful, probably because the questions were calm and well-poised and the answers were meaningful, thought-provoking and important. Thank you.
Thank you Saint Paul’s for demonstrating the ability of Christians to be inclusive and excepting and open to the opinions of everyone in this world regardless of their own personal beliefs or backgrounds. We are often seen as preachy and judgmental. Admittedly a lot of ‘Christians’ are. Not my kind of Christians though. I have to admit even I expected a slight tone of judgement from such a formal and traditional looking church. I adore Grayson (and Claire).I love everything about him! He is an extremely intelligent and articulate man who has been bestowed with incredible artistic talent and an ability to express himself verbally and visually in such a poetic way. He is unapologetic about who he is and I greatly admire that about him. He is authentic.
Grayson Perry, you are fantastic. I'm so glad that you've been Chancellor at my college, University of the Arts London/London College of Fashion. Rock on! PS I agree completely with your assessment about men and "outdated traits" and how men need to behave more like women.
I was put off by Grayson's dress and due to my masculinity couldn't hear him, until now. Something has shifted and now I can hear him loud and clearly. This is a truly exceptional interview.
Grayson Perry is so clever, thoughtful and can express his opinions and ideas very well. When we rear our children we try to teach them to treat others as they would like to be treated, for me this is the most basic 'law' or rule of living but not all kids are lucky enough to have had a stable upbringing nor to have had enough food etc. Of course there'd still be crime without men = women commit crimes too: sometimes from greed, too often because of drug addiction, other times because of poverty and feeding their children comes before the law - of course. Also it depends what we (or laws) decide are crimes! But (I think) most religions have a very similar set of things which in order to live together peacefully we should not do. I like (can't remember his words) how he said religion and poetry are similar. Well done St Pauls for inviting him to talk and thank you for making this and putting it up here for us and for helping me know what art is for: as an artist I doubt what I do very often, it's purpose.
Wow, fell into a trap there didn't he. Still his arguments where his own and he owned them. I just wished he'd stopped to reflect before answering, thus providing space for others too to have their own opinions. Very dogmatic and feminist without deep understanding of human connectivity. The only thing I agree on is the need for collective therapy/ reflectivity of what it means to be human. Humorous individual but his sociological arguments are to broad without deep philosophical grounds upon which to conclude.

Some excellent points and he does express what is apparent. Men's behavior has contributed greatly to the modern disfunctional world.
U can't see people like that on the street anymore. People like that have gotten old now.
