You guys are still funny to watch, how you interact to each others comments. Living in a confined space like a narrowboat given you a different view on life.
Roydon is a lovely little village - Harlow is my home town so I know it well. I have friends in Roydon and I've spent many an hour whiling away the time either in the pubs or just wandering around exploring.
Your videos are so entertaining. Keep up the great work. As for water points being in locks and lock landings. It sort of makes sense from an historical perspective as the working boats didn’t have tanks to fill. They just had a Buckby can or bucket. They could then do that whilst waiting at the lock.
More immensely entertaining stuff from the three of you - and Perseverance of course (or Percy, as Lorna calls her!). Love our little chats, for that's what it feels like. Looking forward to the Great Terrifying Thames Trip :-)
Another great vlog thanx for entertaining us all. ah, and Jo, do the washing up, peel the tatties, sweep the floor, make my dinner and don't forget to do all the locks, when ya done all that come over here and tell me why you leaving?. hahaha. best wishes Bob & wendy Harlequin
That looked interesting and it is your video I’m talking about now! That was a lot of rubbish and it looked terrible but with the amount of traffic on the canal/river it makes me question if there’s enough waste disposal facilities especially if the boats don’t cruise far. Thanks as always for the update. I can’t wait for the Thames trip and to find the identity of the mystery crew member, I think it’s Cruising the Cut but who knows?
There were actually adequate trash facilities not far off, they just removed that bin apparently due to abuse of it by flytippers and some access problems. We're pretty sure the flytippers are the squatting boats on either side of that lock, and they just don't want to move their hulks and know it will be picked up eventually. As for he mystery guest, you'll know soon! M
Another great vlog, I'm saving for next year to have a Holly day, as I'm disabled I'll have to find the right boat to rent and we mite bump into each other, well not bump but you know what I mean lol.
Hello Peter Without a shadow of doubt the best boats for anyone who is disabled are run by The Lyneal Trust: www.lyneal-trust.org.uk All new boats based on the Llangollen Canal, they do a great job. We hope that this is helpful. B & K
Love your vids and the sense of humor you both bring. Have you ever thought of trying up for a bit and tying some walks in the Lake District? Seems to be a beautiful place.
Looked everywhere for the Dooblydoo but alas, I could only find the thingamabob... Sorry you suffer migraines Jo. You didn't sound quite subdued on the voiceover and not quite your spritely self. Always a pleasure both (+ slightly lesser fluffball of course).
Ahh, fly tipping is the British term for illegal dumping, where people dump trash in places not intended for that purpose, or dump hazardous waste at facilities that can't handle it. Sadly both are fairly common on the canals and rivers, when people don't want to bother themselves with the cost and hassle of visiting a proper waste facility. M
The fly tipping is unfortunate. Even more unfortunate is that when you recorded this there were no boaters’ bin facilities between Stonebridge and Hertford.

Oh M don't you know females are the better sex?. Zen is a state of mind. Jo I am so sorry you have migraines. I had them for 9 years (3 or 4 times a month). You looked and sounded better once you had your hands in a bucket of poo. Your marigolds are beautiful. I hope you get lots of herbs M can use to cook you wonderful meals. Thanks again for all the smiles. PS...I am old and enjoy poking fun at other humans so don't take anything I say as gospel.
I'm near here and that rubbish is a constant problem. Apparently there used to be a CART bin for boaters next to the elsan and they took it away, so people just dump on the ground now. They're planning to put a new bin in (access is possible using the private road) and another bin a 1/4 mile along the towpath so hopefully this will soon be a thing of the past. (not defending the flytipping by the way, just giving some context)
Just to add, it's definitely waste from boaters. There's an old chemical toilet there now, along with the usual rubbish bags that have been ripped open by rats and dogs. There are public recycling and rubbish disposal facilities within walking distance so it's disappointing that some people just leave rubbish on the towpath. It makes us all look bad.
Sadly I think the only solution is to put in some cameras, then start shaming the offenders. It's so obvious that it's boaters, and specifically the ones that squat either side of that lock... removing the bin is something they do when the bins get abused (oil waste, batteries, etc) or the contractor loses access, and putting a new bin back in won't stop It. Getting some nice posters up nearby of some of the offenders, followed by perhaps putting a few cartloads of the trash back on their boats, that might work. M
OK, you have passed in your journeys, several different, boats, good, bad and otherwise, I think it would be worth a comment, as to your impression. I do not mean in a judgemental manner but your impression. I think it is important to your viewers. Just saying!
Different people have different standards about how they keep their boats ... don't like to see boats deteriorate so far that they become unsafe or a leaking environmental hazard, but can also see that they're really just very practical objects and don't need to be all shiny and new to keep the water out in all the relevant directions. We've learned first hand that if you're actually moving the boat you can't spend that many hours polishing the thing, for one! M
You guys are still funny to watch, how you interact to each others comments. Living in a confined space like a narrowboat given you a different view on life.
Oh boy, does it ever! M

Wish we’d see a bit more of it! M

Ahh, true that... though the water points don't seem all that historical in age. Hmm.
You guys have the nicest domestics.
They do tend to go a lot better than the domestics we see others having! M
More immensely entertaining stuff from the three of you - and Perseverance of course (or Percy, as Lorna calls her!). Love our little chats, for that's what it feels like.

I think she got that name from us, we've been calling her Percy for a while, in our minds at least. M

brilliant vlog as usual as for the litter louts grrrrr
Grr indeed! M

We've no idea where we'll be on the Cut next year, but always nice to run into people who watch the videos, without actually running into them. M
Unbelievable how rude some boaters can be...couldn't wait for you to vacate the lock before bulldozing their way in!!!
Well, some folk are in a hurry! M
Bishops Stortford: I spent many days out there, before I moved to the US and always visited when I traveled to and fro.
Quite an interesting little place. And good chippy! M
Love your vids and the sense of humor you both bring. Have you ever thought of trying up for a bit and tying some walks in the Lake District? Seems to be a beautiful place.
Perhaps once we get closer to it. I've heard tell it's really nice. M
Let's hope the CRT look through the bags to see if they can find evidence of who is fly-tipping and can be fined.
Man, I wouldn't want that job. M
Oops. Not sure what happened there! The comment below was for Anna and Cath on the previous video but it’s jumped to you. Sorry.
Hah, no worries. M
Looked everywhere for the Dooblydoo but alas, I could only find the thingamabob...
Sorry you suffer migraines Jo. You didn't sound quite subdued on the voiceover and not quite your spritely self. Always a pleasure both (+ slightly lesser fluffball of course).
The dooblydoo is to the left of the thingamabob, right behind the whatsit. M
@@MinimalList Should have known really... Damned whatsit used to hide behind the whatchamacallit but times are a'changing I guess.
Ever since the arrival of the framistat. Damned Millenials. M
OK what is mean by Fly Tipping. I know there is an excess of garbage. what did I miss

IF we're still doing these videos in a year? Hope it's not an if, but a when!
Well, probably... all depends on favorable winds! M
I was married in that church in Waltham Abbey
Well that’s quite a memorable location! M
It is hard to get the right balance. We are cruising more than usual and it’s tiring finding new moorings all the time.
It really can be. But too little and it's tiresome being cooped up in the boat. Sigh. Balance, now! M
Great love it
Stewart William
The fly tipping is unfortunate. Even more unfortunate is that when you recorded this there were no boaters’ bin facilities between Stonebridge and Hertford.
Have you found the balance yet? 😊
Not quite! M
Sorry I couldn’t hear properly what was in the bucket Jo had her hands in? Great vlog though. Hope migraine didn’t last too long.
That was coconut coir, basically the carbon source and dessicant for the composting toilet. M

Yes you do look very tired, time for a rest

Thankfully that was coconut coir, not poo. M
👍🦄👍
the rubbish is absolutely disgusting how people can do this shows no consideration for other people but loving the vlog guys cheers
It kinda looked like someone got evicted and just dump everything without caring about where.
I'm near here and that rubbish is a constant problem. Apparently there used to be a CART bin for boaters next to the elsan and they took it away, so people just dump on the ground now. Does jo understand just how hard it is just being a male?
hehe, he said "hard". ;)
I kind of doubt she does... I mean I sometimes think I've got an idea, and then WHAM it turns out something ELSE can itch! M
