About the garments , when a factory receives an order to make products for famous brands they tend to make like 1% more of the products than the original order. Because at the end there could be some rejections , although before that the products goes through various inspections. The cause of these rejections are so unfindable for a regular buyer.
So the extra products, as well as some rejected products ends up in local market. But these products don't have any defects in it. The deference between these and a Official Brand shop product is somewhat like 99 and 100.

Hey Doug, just finished binging your videos on Bangladesh, gotta say this was the most raw experience I've witnessed any vlogger capturing so far!
If you do plan on visiting again I think you should continue exploring the rural and raw areas, since you have no trouble blending in. It's a way better experience of the country as a whole, plus you're from New York, the metropolis should get boring pretty soon. Same with most of the mainstream tourist spots, they're mostly packed with tourists rather than regular people . The regular people are the charm of the country so do continue going on unconventional adventures to get the full package

Dear Doug Barnard. Hope you have enjoyed your time in Bangladesh. The time you expended in our country has been also a great time for us. Coming from USA and adjusting in a totally unknown country is a matter of something special. And yes, you have been really special. You even visited many remote area without any guide or so (though sometimes it could have created an awkward experience for you, hopefully not!) and tried to explore a country in your own way.
You have been great in terms of your very very polite, multi-culture-friendly way of mingling with any people anywhere. That's a rare and great virtue, friend.
Bangladeshi people are in some cases may seem to you funny, but they are overwhelmed with very little thing like seeing a visitor like you all on a sudden. But they are helpful enough when you need them anywhere in Bangladesh in any situation. Hope you will consider their naiveness or simplicity towards your by far journey here.
And yes, you have visited a beautiful land of soil and water. The riverine beauty of Bangladesh is a thing-- unique and justify your valuable time. It's really a different experience when you visit the villages of Bangladesh- so pure and authentic to hold the raw beauty and experience of soil and water and greenery.
Bangladesh has nearly 90,000 villages having being so much diversified also.
We have been a very nice visitor indeed!. We regret that we couldn't provide you good guidance or support in your journey. It would have been better if we could give company in your journey. Hopefully in your next visits, you will find someone every time with you. However, We will love you always. We wish for your good health and wealth and for an enormous and ever-increasing number of subscribers! also. We are with you with your other country's vlogs.
Thanks to you for your very Good and cordial jobs in Bangladesh and in other areas of the world, already done and which are upcoming .
Our invitation to our Bangladesh is always open to you. Next time you can visit the sea islands of Bangladesh (which are really different compared to of other areas in the world).
Thanks Man. And lots of love to USA people.

    Hey Doug,
So I’m a resident of Bangladesh. Basically in Bangladesh as you may already be aware of that we tent to produce a lot of products for exports. Often time Products are over produced hence causing a surplus, these products are then bought by high end stores such as Artisan and Astorion. On the contrary there are also products which are not exported due to defects or other issues. Those products are bought by wholesale who then sell them in way cheaper prices at a place khown as “Nurjahan market” or opposite of New market or opposite of Dhaka College. I hope I your question was answered.

Loved your videos. Safe travels. Thank you so much for exploring our country.
Btw, the branded export quality garments end up in the shops like that primarily because of some defect in the production of some batch, so the entire order/lot gets canceled. So the manufacturers dump them at the local market for a very low cost. Also, some other reasons are shipping delays and overproduction. You can find knock offs too. I would have suggested trying out some local brands (like Freeland, Ecstasy). They have original design and quality is superb. Prices there will be higher though than shops like Artisan.
You can find shops like these in almost every place in Dhaka.
Near the Jamuna future park, there is one called Anannya Shopping Complex opposite the diplomatic zone. Never forget to bargain.

For foreigners, if you ever visit Bangaladeh, I know everyone talks about Old Town, but try these specific places:
Fun Factory (a 20-storey game zone)
Shahabuddin Park (another park in Gulshan, has a different vibe from Gulshan Park. It's a bit more chic, I guess? While Gulshan Park is traditional (Both are great)
Ramna Park (another really pretty park, the pier on the lake is amazing)
North end (their chocolate chip cookies are S-tier, a lot of people like to get work done there)
German Club (a chill place to relax, you can get drinks, play tennis, swim in the pool etc)
Chef's Table courtside (you should try the karting races there, it's really fun)
The laser game zone on the top floor of the Gulshan unimart

These branded clothes are surplus after completing shipment to the buyer.
When a foreign buyer orders a certain number of garments in a garments factory. The factory produces few thousands extra pieces for precaution so that after final quality inspection they are not short of their desired quantities.
