    Love the stipple whitewash…looks more intense than the hair spray style…for the head light housing check out any craft paint brand “Oyster” color then add your clear lenses when dry…gives a nice reflective look to it…enjoy your Old School techniques…

    Much appreciated, the diorama looks very good, very convincing. Plus you got me laughing with your Florida reference to the snow. I'm from the Netherlands (where we do get snow during winter) and the look you have now is when snow has melten and froze up again. Not bad at all for an early spring atmosphere. I do recognise your feelings towards the amount of work it takes to get these project done. I've been building models and dioramas for 45 years and my whole approach to it has aimed itself to getting alot done fast. Preferably 5-10 figures, black primer, hit them 360° with white from a 80° angle to bring out the shadows and highlights. Hit them with 50% (all acrylycs) Fieldgrau, 49% thinner, 1% flow improver. Use that as a base for your detail painting. Add washes, glazes etc etc. Anyways, thanks for the video and inspiration my man.

    "Gizmo it" is a term I have not heard for a while. Shep Paine called having to improvise "Gizmololgy" so I thought it would be fun to make note of those just in case that can become a term again! The video is quite well done, there are some cool techniques you use like telling us what you are going to do, and then showing before in insets while showing what you are doing at the present, plus honest commentary about enjoying the process as well as it becoming monotonous. I learned a couple of things even though I have been doing modeling for decades! I am inspired by this! Thank you! Oh by the way, yes, it does become monotonous, what I do is put a model aside and work on something else. I am working on an AVF Club Churchill MK 3R (the R stands for it have been through the Great Rework Scheme when the Churchills were put through a rearmoured and up gunning process to make them more suitable as tanks and the R was added at the end of the identification number). I needed hours of Gizmology as I wanted a full interior around the inside of the hull where the driver and gunner's position could be seen through open hatches, as well as in the turret followed by lighting. At one point during the weathering I got weary and put it aside and make a Tamiya Panther A using a Tamiya Panther D and G, and ended up doing the same thing concerning through the hatch detailing and lighting. I the case of the Churchill I put the battery under the turret basket and made the turret removable to be able to turn the battery on and off, in the Panther I ran the wiring under the turret basket and put the battery and switch in the engine compartment. I also did the same thing with a Tamiya Sherman M4A1 that has a 76mm main gun, which was the easiest to do lighting as I was able to use the engine hatch as the method of getting to the battery and switch. The kit was backdated from an Israeli Sherman to an American Sherman from the time of operation Cobra. I received more "likes" on Facebook for the Sherman than on any other kit, so I know the sense of achievement a person gets from receiving likes and I want to tell you again that I definitely like your diorama here! Great work!

    Brilliant work.
    No way.I just primed the twin mg version of this vehicle last night by ICM , I was really impressed with the kit. I had to have me a smile as it looks like we both hit the same problems with gear shifter & door handles.
    Think I'm going to do mine in a Afrika Corps scheme sprayed over the german grey.
    Liked the zeltbahn idea . Keep up the excellent inspiring work.

      Not sure about the timeframe of that vehicle in North Africa, but you could also do the sand mixed with water and smeared over the German grey. I've got the ancient Tamiya 232 8-rad I've always wanted to try that on.

      Why not ? It was used by the Luftwaffe ground units during their 1940 invasion of Greece so I don't see why it would not of been in the North African campaign of the invasion of Sicily for that matter.

    Great diorama with a very well arranged scene. Excellent weathering, Glenn and a good eye for all the details which bring life into the diorama.
    Nice to see the way to this great result. Best wishes, Joachim

    Your "pretty good" Glenn is exceptional for some of us; you are a modeler's modeler. Oh, thanks for the comment on the eyes. I quit painting them years ago. I felt I could accomplish enough with a careful wash to present an acceptable quality, especially with really good figure sculpts. Great diorama!

      Shep Paine used to point out the most of the time we are depicting soldiers outdoors, and they're likely squinting. Better no eyes than a pair of Googlies lol.

    Ohh!!! I've got to try the Computer print Zeltbahn!!! I used to use Baking Soda for snow but switched to Vinyl Spackle! Put it on and smooth it with a wet brush. This Dio is Great!

    Glenn,looks great. Love the idea about printing the camo and dullcoating and soaking in water! You would think that a company that designs and engineers a kit would look at the Instructions and then have someone build the kit and double check the pics and letters and numbers all jive. The different kinds of models and hobbys I do I see it alot. Sometimes its like trying to find a puzzle piece that fits in an all black puzzle.

    I have that ICM vehicle kit, as well as their radio vehicle of the same type. I suspect mine is their original product. I just bought the ICM US patrol truck with US Army figures and it looks much better engineered than the Kfz-1. You dio looks really good. Thanks for the tips and video.
    By the way i grew up in Palm Bay Florida went to Melbourne High School because Palm Bay didnt have a high school. I know live in Reno Nevada. Havent been back to Florida since 2004/05, my buddies have been bugging me to come east for a visit. Will have to see maybe next year.

    That wall and cobblestone road look fantastic, I actually grew up in a street with cobblestones like that... the car on the other hand, tbh I don't understand the white stuff, is it a form of camo ?

    • @ArmorModelsbyGlennBartolotti
      @ArmorModelsbyGlennBartolotti  29 дней назад

      Yes, the white on the car is camouflage for the winter that was applied whitewash. Thanks for your comment. Glad you enjoyed it!

    How do you find such great reference photos? Do you type in the type of vehicle you are working on? I use Google but rarely find such good results.

    • @ArmorModelsbyGlennBartolotti
      @ArmorModelsbyGlennBartolotti  9 дней назад +1

      Yes, that’s all I do! But I keep at it and keep at it finding newer and newer ones. It takes a while. I probably spend four or five hours just getting reference before I start the model.
