Just made greens for the first time. Looked at their stems and realized this was a skill that I needed to learn from someone’s educated momma. You were my momma for 29 mins and I just wanted to say thank you ❤
I really wanted to watch this video (because we have a garden overflowing with collards) but I couldn’t because the smoke detector chirping freaked my dogs out! 😵💫
To everyone saying she’s too slow, that’s because you’re not watching her while actually doing it. This video is more the style where you have everything in front of you and follow along and it feels like she’s in the kitchen cooking with you and talking to you/guiding you
Thank you so so much. That's how I want my channel to be. People enjoy the way I do it and I don't care what they think. People that like it will watch it and turn it back on and cook right along with me because they wanna cook it right. Thank you for your comment and thank you so much for watching sweetie ❤
Thanks sweetie for watching. The idea is to teach people so they know how to really do it right. I'm so glad some of the people get what I'm trying to do. Thank so much.
Just harvested a nice bunch of home grown collards and turnip greens but didn’t have the energy to cook them today. I came to RUclips and discovered you. Thank you for being here and sharing your knowledge🙏🏼
This is my first time away from home and making dinner all by myself this thanksgiving and this was the BEST tutorial I’ve seen this far. Thank you! 🙌🏽
Thank you so much for making this video! I’ve always steered away from collard greens because I got nervous about cleaning them well enough and had no idea about how to make them, but you were super clear and amazingly helpful! I don’t know if you teach, but you’d be great at it.
Well you are teaching me. I recieved these in a box of other vegetables and had no idea what they even were at first....(band says Collard!) RUclips search brought me to you. 😁 Now Now this dumb girl from Massachusetts can say I was taught by the best teacher on you tube! Love your channel....Your the best! Thank you! Now I'm off to learn how to cook them. God bless 🙌! ✌❤💡🙏
As soon as I saw that Auburn shirt I knew she could cook as I’m from Columbus and have family in bama, I knewwww she could cook. This is how my mama taught me
I'm so glad I found this video. I have rewatched it so many times. I first watched this last year and I made the best ever collared greens for Thanksgiving. Now I have started including collard green for every holiday. Well here I am again this Thanksgiving watching you for a refresher course. THANK YOU! Happy Thanksgiving! Also, you are fun to listen to and watch.
Love the teaching. I'm from FL n love greens. Love how u cut them smaller. Being in warmer climate we wash greens before cutting them. Checking the back of them where green worms n dirt usually be. Then cut u n cook
Same here I wash each one with a small amount of dish detergent and clean towel then rinse them well and then I cut them. I like the way she cut her greens thin so they will get tender at a quicker rate good idea.
Thank You its 07/22/2023. I've cooked collar, mustard, turnips greens before. Each & every time i cook or before i cook them i always google how to clean & cook. Sending Love from Chicago Smooches 😘
I just came upon your channel today. I love it. My father is from Tuscaloosa and this is exactly how he taught me to cut, clean and cook them. Must be a Bama thang. 😊 I wish I would of been born and raised in Alabama. I love it.(My mom died when I was ten, I’m the oldest, of six, youngest was three) So Daddy taught me to cook. And he was a great cook; but not better than my mama.😊I appreciate you and all my southern sisters on RUclips. ❤️😊
You so sweet and thank you. So sorry to hear about your mom at such a young age sweetie I know that had to be hard for you. My mom always cleaned her and cut her greens that way so you know that's how I have to do mine. It kills me when I see people break them with there hands lol. Your dad showed you the right way, high five to dad. My dad is a great cook as well his teacher was is mom. Blessing 🙌 to sweetie 💖
Cooking for my kids at a children’s home! Thank you for helping me help them... thanksgiving was trash for them on the other shift so ima do it over for em ❤️
@ I filled a whole gallon size ziploc bag of the sliced, prepared collards “your way.” I’m going to cook some tomorrow and freeze the rest in that ziploc 🥰 I made them a few months back, an Indian lady on RUclips has a recipe where she sautéed fast with garlic, cumin, coconut oil, turmeric, served next to jasmine rice. We can do so much with collards and I love the flavor and how healthy they are for us.
I cut the stems out, but then I chop them up and add them first so that they get tender. I love the flavor of the stems and hate to waste anything too.
Hello E--I'm a City Girl, and today I'm learning how to properly: look, wash, trim, cut and put up Collards! 😀 Although I've eaten plenty, I never actually made them fresh from the Garden until this Thanksgiving😲! I was blessed with two HUGE bunches of Collards, and I set to work! Now I have your video😏
Thank you for posting this! My family is from Mexico so collards are not a traditional food for us but I love them! Gonna try to make some for Thanksgiving. I was looking for the bagged, cut, & washed collards but did not find any. So here I am needing to wash my collards.
So I normally boil mines for like 5 mins (blanching them) then I place them in the ziploc bag. I mean I never placed them in the ziploc bag like that. Does it ever have freezer burn or do you add water in the bag?
If I could make a suggestion, put your regular bowl with green inside the strainer. Let fill for rinse and when ready to drain, you only need to lift the strainer up all the rinse water will come out.
You are so funny. Thank you for showing me how to do this because I was going nuts. I’m 65 years old and never cooked greens in my life but this time I’m trying for the first time and I came across your RUclips page. I’m a musician so I was really digging the singing LOL. I’m going to call you the clean talking Auntie Fee lol. God bless
Thanks for the video I'm about to get in my kitchen and clean my greens and that's a good way to cut them up to never thought about that thanks a bunch ☺️☺️
I would have prepared my collard greens last week but I’m just now seeing this. I almost had to fight in the grocery store to get my greens for thanksgiving yesterday 😂 Great tutorial!
Thank you hunny I’m here just a few days away from thanksgiving and need to learn how to cut and wash them bc I usually buy the pre cut pre washed bags and their out everywhere! And just bought two bunches today and have no idea what I’m doing!
Ok, this is my first but I’m following you without watching the video 😮 I’m following because I like your singing 🎶 😅 AND you’re fun yet teaching me how to clean and cook greens 👍🏻
That's a great idea! I'll try it this way, because it seems faster! Thank you very much for sharing this great idea! I will take this into consideration, as I will add your video to my watch later list! Such a lovely person you are!
I would definitely eat her food. She’s like me. Clean clean and always wiping stuff down. I’m about to do my greens right now. Only thing I do different is I put my greens in vacuum sealer bags
Thank you so much for this video! It is very helpful. It’s Easter weekend and I’m cooking collards for the first time and I needed to know how to cut and clean them. Thanks a bunch! 🥬 😀Lol!
Can you show an example of elephant greens side by side with regular greens. Im wanting to see what to avoid. I don't know the difference yet. Thanks for taking the time to educate 🙏
I had mine for the New Year and they were tender and delicious! Thanks so much for the video! I learned a lot, and put it into practice, now I'm enjoying my collards!
Love the video! Just wondering how long you can leave them in the freezer like that before they go bad? Thank you again for sharing. Such a wonderful video.
You are funny!😂 but thanks for this. My fam was raised on mustard/turnips and I just developed a liking for collards so got some earlier than usual to freeze and prepare to cook.
I wish I would found this video before I bought some collard greens. I bought some elephant ones 🤦🏻♀️ I'm still going to follow your cleaning and cutting process. Thank you for sharing ❤️
I'm only 22 seconds into this video, and I've never been so excited to cook collard greens in my life!
Lol. Thank you so much for watching.
Yes, it’s contagious - I’m now looking forward to it! 🤷🏾♀️
I'm 36 and feeling the same.

The recipe I'm doing called for 3 bags of pre cut pre washed and I didn't find any so here I am. I think a bunch equals a pre cut/pre washed bag?
They leave a lot of the stems and don't turn out as tender when you do it yourself. Let me know how it turns out.
