That’s cause we were ripping off wood from a local construction site late at night before security showed up. You needed to get in and get the fuck out. Three ply is a luxury item.
What material is the last layer made of?
@@efecordero Hardboard Tempered Panel (3/16" x 4ft. x 8ft.) It's tempered and smooth on one side. Works great, but isn't completely weatherproof, so if your weather is like mine (UK), you have to keep it covered.

Kirby Dinglebear count each board they bring in, go to a hardware store and get an estimate.
If you cant build it yourself you take that material list to a contractor to get the cost or a few handy buddys if the cost needs to be lower.

Kirby Dinglebear I got pretty much the same size mini ramp built by a contactor and it took 4 guys and one in a half days to do it for 5 thousand.I'm just assuming but I picture a thousand dollars of wood and 1 thousand dollars for each guy since it was their own company.
On average it costs around $580 to build a 3 foot tall 8 foot wide mini ramp

What's the last material that they put on top?
it's called ramp armor. very smooth and durable. in this video they use the cheaper indoor version. there's a more expensive outdoor version which protects the ramp from enviromental damage.

the thing on top I think is masonite but it could be skatelite or ramp armor
As someone who has made a mini ramp, the extra layers are for protection. It always needs a lot of wood to compensate for how bendy the wood is

Awesome job guy ! I'm trying to build a miniramp myself, could you give me some tips ? I'm thinking to use 2 layers of MDF, 3mm each. And a harboard cover, 2,5mm. Do you think it will be enough ? It will stay indoors, low use... Thank you !

AndreCorner That black skatelite prob cost that much alone. It can be done for 300-500 bucks but it won't be like this one. diyskate.com will help you out.
If you are just considering the cost of materials, it is probably between $300-$600.

I wonder what type of wood used to cover the last layer of the end. I mean they put the dark wood at the end?
They used a thin sheet of fiberboard. It's like MDF, but it's very pliable and dense, so it can be bent to the contour of the ramp and it's very smooth to ride on.

how long did this actually take and how much did it cost
Took us 24 hours from the initial planning to completion. I think total cost was around $1500. But that is a ballpark figure, I can't remember exactly how much everything cost.

Mini ramp are amazing every skate park should have one, cause we all got to start somewhere, problem with my local skate-park is that you already need to be an expert to try anything... their is not skills progression in the ramps or anything for example you don't have smaller bank to practice and learn the basic skills.

Couple constructive comments. You should T the 4' 2x4s. It looks like you guys had to retrofit. Also, that coping looks really boppy. IMHO, You should shout for < 3/8". Looks really nice though!

Why did you guys build the Flat-bottom framing parallel to the framing on the Curved sections? Do you like 'washboards', or just trying to keep a skater's speed down?
You ought to have framed the Flat-bottom perpendicular to the 2x4's on the curved areas, that way you come off the transition down onto a fast, smooth surface. I have never built a ramp with the lower like that, and some of my ramps lasted for over 20 years.

+Matt Niell of course. But the point is that its yet ANOTHER clickbait video. I mean I was pretty darn certain it wouldn't be a 5 minutes build, I still gave them the chance to prove me wrong. Like I don't know, a challenge they would have done, getting 200 dudes to work in perfect harmony to actually do it in 5 minutes or something...
The thing is every body on youtube make clickbait titles... Which means that you end up spending hours whatching videos that aren't what their title says, and it makes hard to find the actual videos you would have wanted to see.
While the video wasn't bad, I still reported it for misleading title. If they had simply nammed it "Building a Mini Ramp - 5 minutes time lapse", it would have been clear. The problem is not THAT video. The problem is that they are ALL like this nowadays which sucks for the viewer.

Plywood should be run the opposite way,for strength,and im not just some fuck who can build a ramp,i been building houses since i was a kid,matter of fact i got my first job framing by getting caught stealing lumber of a job site,16 yrs old was riding the whole sheets down the road on my board,no car yet,and the boss man was driving around the hood looking for a hiding spot to smoke a doob,and what do u know said hiding spot was why we picked his job to "donate" materials.we had to find a spot with some woods in the vicinity,built a small half pipe.he seen us in the woods and came up to us like he was a dick and gonna call the cops,then when we started coping pleas he started laughing and fired it up!he complemented us on design,and offered me and my buddy a job cleaning up,and carrying the lumber round the job site!man we thought we were rich,i think i lasted 3 week's,🔥 summer killed our drive!plus we had a nice mini in the shade to skate!

@Kirby Dinglebear there price may vary from what you are wanting to build do to size differences and really with a little time and effort you can find out a rough estimate of price yourself simply find the size you want yours to be and the amount and type of materials you will need and add all the costs of material up now if they did tell you there price it would probably include labor since they get paid for the work they are doing to so your own estimate could also be cheaper than what they might tell you it costs to get a ramp like that. I hope this helps you find the answer to the price if your really interested in building it then you should at least know how to figure what you need this is a serious build compared to how simple they make it look
i dont like short halfpipes to be too wide. If i was to build one it would be less wider just seems more better ride and more proportional and when your doing tricks its nice to have a side to the ramp and has better air flow. Wide short ramps in my opinion are not as fun. I would of made it 30 percent more narrower.
