  • God is an interactive God. He chooses you-picks you before the foundation of the earth. Then He allows you to choose Him. And, It doesn't end there: He gives you gifts that you can use to serve Him and one another. In this text we see that God provides for the priesthood through the people of Israel and learn that Jesus is our kinsman redeemer-He was related, willing, and able-to buy back the title deed to the earth.
This teaching is from our series Leviticus - 2012 with Skip Heitzig from Calvary Church.

Hahahaha totally agree with you. My husband and I have been following since Genesis too and we are not disappointed with Leviticus, in fact just the opposite, we have some real gems now scribbled all over Leviticus in our Bibles and a much greater understanding of who Yeshua is. What an amazing God we serve! WOW!

    I would like to make a correction on 22:11, It's not 1 Cor 6. It's 2 Cor 6:14.

That only pertained to farmers harvesting their crops.. we all aren't farmers..Isaiah 56:1-9 so in order to enter into the kingdom Age we will have to be keeping the Sabbath.

Very much appreciated this, thank you! (However, keeping Sabbath is one of the Ten Commandments, and it says not to forget to keep the Sabbath, so I'm not sure about that part.)

Hi Stephanie, Jesus is the fulfilment of the Scriptures, He is Lord of the Sabbath. The commandments were given to the Jewish people under the Old Covenant. We are under the Blood of Christ the new Covenant. The early church celebrated on the First day of the week which is why we follow on and do the same. They did not have names for the days as we do, it was the first, second third day of the week etc. They celebrated the resurrection of Messiah which is what we do today while at the same time remembering His death until He comes. Hope this helps you to understand and not to get stuck into legalism.

My view - for what it's worth. The Sabbath was made for man. A day without work where we stop and spend time in prayer and worship to the lord is a good thing. Now clearly some people have to work on a Sunday (doctors, nurses, care workers etc). So what I think is more important is that you have that time to a) dedicate to God and b) not work.
I am self employed and one of my businesses is always closed on a Sunday which is awesome because even when I'm not there, if it's open its on my mind and also I know I may be required to do things for it. Sunday is beautiful in that regard. However for another business I end up working 2-3 hours on a Sunday every 2 or 3 weeks. However the day is the lord's so while I will work, I do so listening through commentaries such as this or music dedicated to the lord.
In conclusion the Sabbath is great for our soul and our relationship with God, however it should not be as a mill stone around our neck.
