I purchased the JDM SBSA025 version of the new Seiko 5 Sports "fashion diver" that is the replacement for the SKX line of Seiko divers and decided to mod it using one of my 4:44BLK SKX dive cases so that it would have the proper water-resistance with a screw down crown and also a few subtle upgrades. I think you'll all be happy with the end result. Enjoy!

Looks gorgeous - I like how you didn't play around w the aesthetic of the bezel. OEM is very nice & fitting.
Honestly, for me, the lack of screwdown is appealing. I don't like unscrewing.

Hey man you said that the black movement spacer on the stock watch is bigger than the grey one on NH36 and that you will have to replace it in order to fit your case back with the extra lip but you kept the original black spacer until the end. Does it mean that the original black spacer for new Seiko 5's is the same dimensions as the grey one on NH36?

When you replace the bezel insert, do you have to put the exon on first so that the 12 of the bezel insert matches the 12 on the chapter ring?

Is there ANY way to fix the line-up of the hands without doing what you did? It seems Seiko commonly has this issue, as I have it with both my Turtle watches. Also, what tool did you use to take the hands off?
Pete G yes you simply have to remove the hands using a presto band removal tool and replace using hand pressing tools.
You didn´t showed where to open the crown. I can not open it. Where is the push button?
same as any 7s. or nh35 /36. u just pop. it our dont pull all the way like to adjust time.. theres tons of vids watch 1 on swapping in a nh36
I bought brand new Seiko SRPE71k1, and bezel is soooo hard to rotate. Do you have an idea why is this happening? I mean, I bought from the Seiko official store in my country. Everything is okay except this bezel thing.
Sometimes they are just tighter than others and will break in over time or sometimes they get worse. Unfortunately, you just have to hope you get a good one.

Looks great! Do you have a problem with the LumiBrite? I have this watch and mine doesn't glow unless I charge with lights. And then it glows, but still fades so fast.

Why not just buy a NH35/6 and build a SRPD clone from scratch? Case, movement, chapter ring, bezel, insert, case back, crown, hands and dial would have costed around $300 and this project would be pushing over $500.....the only part that is tricky to source is the face from the SRPD but surely there are some alternatives for a stealth build alternative.
Seems a little pointless to me, all for a screw down crown? Also still not ISO certified🤔

Nice job. IMO, this is what Seiko should have done with the SKX, as an update, rather than introducing the desk diver SK5 with a look alike case. Now, they are left with a hole in their lineup as far as an entry level ISO 200m Diver. I guess that spot goes to the reintroduced Turtle, which I like, but the iconic SKX case was/is more versatile and wearable, thus it’s huge popularity over the many years it was offered. Maybe Seiko will reintroduce the SKX case in the Prospex lineup, as they’ve done with the Turtle and others.
Will be interesting to see what they do.

baby wimpy rice no you would need an aftermarket crown as well so that it will have threads to screw down onto the case.

What crystal gasket did you use?
The right one for the SKX aftermarket case. The new Seiko “SK5” sports watches may look like an SKX ISO Diver but the case is different and they use a different crystal gasket.

Francoir Hugo Dimpfelmoser it should but you would need to change out the springbars.
@@FourFortyFourPM I assume you need the curved springbars to fit the Crafter Blue band to the 5kx case as well?
DeanM4chine yes but you also need to make sure the pins on the end of the springbar are the smaller size because the holes in the 5KX case are smaller than the holes in an SKX case.

DeanM4chine just bend the smaller tipped ones that come with the crafter blue strap by laying them in between two spoons and pressing them until curved. That’s what I did.
