Dohnanyi is not one of my favourite composers, but this sextet is an astonishing and highly addictive masterpiece. Having compared all recordings available, the rendition of Robert Plane & Ensemble sounds most exciting to me. Marvelous sound quality, perfect balance of all instruments. Congratulation to the musicians and technicians!

One of the most slim but orchestral sounding instrumentations possible! Very good idiomatic writing too.

Agreed. First heard this piece this performed this summer - fantastic. The instrumentation foreshadows Messiaen’s Quartet for the End of Time, especially the parts in unison.

@@camilohiche4475 idiomatic writing in this context means the parts are written in a way that highlights the strengths of each instrument and feels good for the players to play

Surprising finale for a general lyrical work, also in rythmical sense. Thanks for the upload.

Dohnányi's sense of humor manifests here, as it does also in his Variations on a Nursery Rhyme.

What a wonderful find! It just does your heart good to know that the guy who wrote this, was also a hero who saves lives.

the first 5 were already great! Unless strikes will occur half a million subscribers is just a matter of time. Maybe I should upload some Bieber orchestrations. I would have those subscriptions in a few days. Actually I am still looking at those Beatles orchestrations somebody told me he was going to share with me. That will do it!

Please watch this at the lowest quality only (144p) since it's just for the music, which is much more ecologically responsible than at a higher rate. Watching this at 240p (which is unnecessary for listening purposes), will increase the bandwith by double to almost tenfold! At 1080 the bandwith is augmented by a factor of 100!
The use of digital technology accounts for 4% of the world's greenhouse gas emissions, as much as the emissions from the world's truck fleet. Of that, a BIG part comes from livestreaming videos, mainly 3 sources : RUclips, Netflix and porn.
Let's enjoy this beautiful music by being aware and responsible, doing our little part in decreasing our carbon footprint and protecting this wonderful planet for the generations to come.
