I would like to point something out - This dog is not stressed, he is working in DRIVE. For those of you that don't know or understand that, it is when a dog is working at their highest level of "try" and energy is put into the behaviors. A dog who is trained ONLY using negative reinforcement (Like you are all claiming he is doing) does not wag his tail, shake, intensely gaze at his "mark" (The ball), ears up, etc. A dog who is trained with negative reinforcement will flatten his ears, slink, tuck or flatten his tail, and they may shake but it's from fear not drive. You can tell the difference. IPO and other protection sports need the dog to work in drive like this for focus. It is not uncommon for dogs in drive to be vocal. An e collar is a wonderful tool if you are educated enough to use it, as many of you clearly are not. It's not shocking the shit out of the dog just because - It's applying a correction to set "boundaries" with you as the pack leader.
Do you all also notice the reward is the ball? That is incredible focus training. The dog is working in drive for the ball. Telling him he can get the ball is his reward. If you notice as well, the dog ALWAYS bring the ball back to his handler. He wants to work again for his pay check.
exceptional trainer, one of the best in the world! Brilliant obedience, extreme focus, astounding drive! This is how a real working dog should look like! For all people who think this dog is abused or in stress: you dont know nothing about dog training! This dog works in high drive, the highest drive possible. He works for a ball and he is ready to do anything for that ball. He has involuntary vocalization, but not because he is in stress, but because he is overexited. He just wants his reward so bad that he whines from excitement. He knows exactly what to do and how to do it in order to get his reward and he loves the game and enjoys it to the fullest. His tail and ears are always up, zero sign of stress in the whole video, the dog never came out of drive, he was not interested a bit in his surroundings, never looked away, the whole time he was interested only in his trainer and his ball. Trying to diss Bart Bellon is pathetic, all you newbies cant never match his level, after all these years, this is still the best show up of the result of a trainer on youtube, the only other trainer that can show similar results is Nino Drowert, and it is not a secret that he was trained by Bart, so his results are no surprise. Bart uses eollars as a training tool and not to induce pain on dogs. Dogs that have been trained with pain dont look like that, they look pathethic, even if they are obedient, they are painful to watch. This video shows an example of how dog training tools can be used responsively to train your dog to the top of his physical abilities without the need to harm or abuse the animal. This is how dog training should look like and anyone who understands dog training can confirm my words
This dog is Thor, a bi-colored Belgian Malinois. The whining you hear is out of the Doug's eagerness to get his reward, the ball. Motivation is key when working with dogs, as is timing and consistency. Working dogs are easily motivated to work for toys and food, some prefer one over the other. With extremely toy/prey driven dogs, a ball or tug is of very high value and you are more likely to see this kind of enthusiasm.
Ever been with a dog that is SO EXCITED that they're whining? Like when you drive up to their favorite park and they're whimpering from how insanely thrilled and amped they feel just waiting to be let out of the car? That's how these dogs feel about the motivational rewards they get in this type of work- both the ball reward and the satisfaction of accomplishment and pleasing their handler. Punishing a dog all the way into a fear state doesn't build this beautiful eager excitement.
Bom dia! Diante doque eu vi neste video,e tamanha tecnica e dominio, cincronismo, alegria do cão em trabalhar;Caiu todo meu conceito de que eu sabia alguma coisa de adestramento!!!! Parabens!!!! É muito pouco para este nivel ! Não tenho mais oque dizer!
Well, at least he talk to people a language they understand instead of just offending like you do. This is one of the top notch trainers, maybe only Helmut Raiser has been as influential as him in recent times, just look at his results in NVBK.
I Loved this! This dog is truly amazing! This dog has the attention, the focus, the control. His response is immediate and and precise. And I don't think that tail could possibly wag any faster! THIS is a happy working dog! For the first while I thought it was a GSD, but looking a bit closer it looks like a black and tan Malinois? I didn't know they came in that color! =D
This is amazing! I've just started training my 5-months-old dog and she barely responses to "come here" :D I wish I could do at least third as good as this trainer.
he's in an excited state of mind. (very easy to do with working/herding breeds) I'm not sure if it was an E-collar or not but the dog's whining is kind of like a kid sulking. He, like most herding breeds, has high prey drive so the man is teaching him to control it. It's very tough for prey driven dogs but if that was a person the dog would have to let go the second the man says so.
@knorden That commands from bart is a mix from the most used commands of the Netherlands/Belgium/Deutschland. But it doesnt matter what command you use! But you need to use everytime the same command.
That is one happy doggy, i hope to have my american bulldog x red nosed pit that attentive one day but the bulldog in him may make this hard hehe. Thanks for the vid.
One more thing. I run my own company and train dogs on the side. I am the boss. I mentioned the excited state because sometimes the dog will develop a complex over using treats or toys. they can even gain weight with treats. I live in a big city and i can take my dog everywhere without a leash. My dog even knows how to cross a busy street without me. She will literally stop and wait with people trying to cross the street and wait till everyone walks. a few examples of what she can do.
wow!!!!!!!!!!!!! that's was a great performance. i'm now working on a 11month old gsd and trying to get the whole focus down. i got him to heel, sit, and stay for the most part just trying to get the focuse down. i know it's not gonna be a over night thing but i wanna be in this same position in a few. thanks for this video it gave me great confidence and motivation to stay intrested. would you pm me any tips on step by step to how i can get my dog to cooperate in this manner. thanks again.
Yeah I understand that. I was simply asking a question or two. I was responding to someone else's comment but thank you for setting up a whole picture for me. And i know E-collars aren't a bad tool but i was wondering why he had one on. Again, just asking some questions. I've worked with hundreds of dogs and even some wolves and i have a wolf hybrid that i rescued from a mill so I've been around all kinds of dogs. But i had never been around a Mali so i was curious as to why he was so vocal. :P
Esto es simplemente un muy buen perro DEPORTIVO, por eso no se ven sus perros siendo "perros".... desde que se tenga claro que se quiere, se darán Claros los resultados.
@peterl0815 Your comment shows you have never dealt with dogs with that kind of temperment. This is a game to this dog, and he is winning the game every time. Its about like playing 'Simon Says' and the dog always wins. If you didn't do training like this with this dog he would destroy your house out of boredom.
If this is Flik van de Leibeekhoeve, as everything seems to show, then this dog is a Mechelaar, the son of Zodt (another well known Bellon's dog) and Deva van Joefarm.
Maybe boring for you but not for the dog. I see a trainer with a very well trained and happy to work dog. I see a dog that will go to bed at night tired and happy. As for the empty human-dog relationship, I don't see it. I see a team, a trainer and his very young and very high energy and very well trained dog. And btw, not German. It's Dutch or to be more precise Flemish. Not everyone speaks English or gives their dog commands in English.
Creo esta prohibido el collar electrónico para perros ..creo que hay otro sistema en el que puede disfrutar más el perro sus aptitides positivas...sin ser lastimado o sometido...
dude it isn't even german... it's dutch it might be boring in this video but i'm pretty sure he's doing other things with the dog aswell ;) very well trained !
what kind of dog (breed) is this? Seems like a Malinois but the color is black and tan, would it be a croos of a German Shepherd with a Malinois or is it a Working line German Shepherd?
Poslušnost psa je vynikající. Ale..... , proč psovod má stále v ruce bičík . A vůbec , můj dojem vztah psovoda ke psu, jak k němu přistupuje je chladný. Alespoň pohladit psa a radost z výcviku by měli mít oba..........

Michaela Langston yes studies show most animals would rather work for their reward than have it handed to them

Still blown away by this video! A true genius at work.
I've seen this clip at least 10 times, it is still not boring, very impressing.
this is both incredibly precise obedience and incredibly good control for the prey object. Fantastic trainer! Simply the best!

Very nice work, Super!!!!
He's a German Shepherd/Belgian Malinois mix if I remember correctly.
What is the name of the dog and the pedigree ? Wow outstanding performance and look.

Not at all! This is Thor, an X-mechelaar!
And he s clearly not a son of Zodt! You can see it immediately if you know Zodt s bloodline.Thor is very different physically.
