I Killed Every NPC in Baldur's Gate 3 (Act 1)

  • This is by leaps and bounds the biggest project for a video that I have ever taken on. Killing every NPC in Baldur's Gate 3 is a nearly impossible task, so I'm breaking it up into 3 sections: Act 1, Act 2, and Act 3. I could really use your help to track everyone down, so if you have any insight into NPCs that might be hard to find, or out of the way, then by all means please let me know! As far as Act 1 goes though, I think I've done a pretty good job. And of course I'll make any necessary corrections before we begin Act 2!

      As a secondary minor aside which I should have waited to comment for: you can keep Mayrina's brothers alive by usning non-lethal mode after siding with Ethel. There's even a special dialogue for it when you talk to Mayrina. However she still reacts as if they've ben killed and nothing further comes of it. Mirkon (the kid by the Harpies) will die if you don't activate the encounter soon enough, but he can also die in the battle against the Harpies, though it is up to random chance. While the Harpies rarely, if ever, directly target Mirkon for attacks, and he primarily uses the Disengage skill to flee the battle, if one of the Harpies begins singing on a subsequent turn and succeeds in luring him back, he can walk past one of them and trigger an Attack of Opportunity, one-shotting him. Happened to me just last night and cost me 30 minutes because I forgot to save, lol.

    You missed quite a big amount of goblins that can only be killed when you tell Minthara the location of the grove and then defend the grove from Minthara leading the attack as there's a lot of similar enemies that are in the camp, but they're not the same goblins. After you kill all the enemies in the grove siege you can go back to the camp and all the goblins are still there and they're auto hostile towards you.

    You missed out on being able to safely kill Gale by NOT cutting his hand off.
    This also locks you out of Elminster appearances and any of his unique quest characters, but now that Gale is in your world the only way to kill him is with the Netherese Orb at the end of the game, which results in an ending where everyone DOESN'T die.
    Cutting of Gale's hand traps him between realms with an open wound and no means of escape, and no way for his orb to go boom and end your game early.

  • @nuzzlebit
    @nuzzlebit 5 месяцев назад +5

    For killing playable characters: you can technically kill them anytime, but there are circumstances where they can die permanently.
    Lae’zel is the easiest, you get SO many opportunities to let her die, e.g. letting Shadowheart kill her. Astarian can be killed in the scene where he tries to suck you. Karlach is dead. Wyll can be killed if you raid the Druid grove with him and Minthara (who can be killed immediately after iirc). Shart can be killed in the Shadowfell if you don’t let her kill (spoilers) the Nightsong. Minsc can be killed in his initial battle, and I think as long as you kill Jaheira before the assault on Moonrise, you’re good.
    From what I remember, none of these deaths lock you out of any unique kills. Cazador, Voss, Lady DeVriska, and Ravengard all still appear iirc. However if you kill Halsin too early, you don’t get access to Thaniel. I’m not actually sure if Thaniel can die, so this might be moot. Orin can kill him later anyway. Lastly, Gale. He can die in the portal you meet him in, but that locks you out of Elminster. He can’t actually die, but where’s the fun if you can’t even beat up an old man(‘s construct he’s using as a body)? After that, you should let Gale explode during the Netherbrain fight, so both he and your Durge die. (:
    Also, nitpick, lorewise Shovel doesn’t really die. She’s from the hells, so she respawns back there, like Yurgir. But gamewise she’s effectively dead since you didn’t learn the scroll, so whatever.

    I will say Counceller Florrick *might* be required to be fed 2 tasty morsels due to refusing the deal Wyll is offered if you try to break his pact in act 2. I'm pretty sure refusing this deal is already required for Mizora to feed you even more morsels by trying to get what she offers anyways(since she summons adds to stop you) but refusing the deal also has Florrick bring her allies(which is another fucking quest you have to do to make sure she is free in act 3) and those allies *might* be unique to that encounter. Either that or someone else replaces her but if not Florrick has to live technically.
    I also don't think you can kill Isobel right away because you want to progress Halsin's quest to get his feeding frenzy of morsels from portal defense and that seems to only trigger after Isobel's fight which I think means the optimal strat is to kill the grove to 1 person, and if the raiders on the grove are unique raid the grove and betray Minthara to get those kills and if the raiders are not unique then make sure the last person in the grove is a druid who can complete the rite of thorns. If the grove is thorned off Halsin will join your camp but not if it's raided with you helping the raiders. You can also raid the grove with only Zevlor remaining since you can kill him later but don't fry him in act 2 since freeing him gives more adds in the fight than would be fried without freeing them.
    If you don't care about maximizing kill count ignore me and just make sure to clear the prison in Moonrise before and during the raid to make sure the guards there are dealt with

There was a spot near the stage in the Circus with three civilians, none of whom run away when you attack one of the others. Each one summons three Flaming Fist when you attack them. Finding this out was the worst time I've had in this entire game.
    On the other hand, I attacked the Murder Tribunal target outside of the Blushing Mermaid, aggroed the whole tavern, and had a blast. Attacking the bank instead of talking my way in was also really fun. Just maybe take down the Steel Watchers as early as possible in Act III.
