Human beings are fucking idiots. All it would take to excuse unusual walking patterns is "well, there was some sort of training to get to that pattern of walking, like how people who know what to look for can tell if you've been in the military. Putin was KGB, so that probably has something to do with it." and a bunch of people got paid for that shit. How the fuck can I get in on some of that money? Analyzing people is easy as shit.
What comes to mind for me is that "hit" song from the 90's by Genesis; "I CAN'T DANCE" song just popped into my head while watching this video! Lyrics... Hot sun beating down Burning my feet just walking around. Hot sun making me sweat 'Gators getting close, hasn't got me yet. I can't dance, I can't talk. The only thing about me is the way I walk. I can't dance, I can't sing I'm just standing here selling everything. Blue jeans sitting on the beach, Her dog's talking to me, but she's out of reach. She's got a body under that shirt, But all she wants to do is rub my face in the dirt. Cause, I can't dance, I can't talk. The only thing about me is the way I walk. No, I can't dance, I can't sing I'm just standing here selling. And checking everything is in place, You never know who's looking on. Young punk spilling beer on my shoes, Fat guy's talking to me trying to steal my blues. Thick smoke, see her smiling through. I never thought so much could happen just shooting pool. But I can't dance, I can't talk. The only thing about me is the way I walk. I can't dance, I can't sing I'm just standing here selling And checking everything is in place. You never know who's looking on. A perfect body with a perfect face. These lyrics if you read between the lines ("just standing here selling and checking everything's in place," " you never know who's looking on" the hypervigilance of an agent!) and imagine it's really about secret service/agents, following their training, speaking in code!!! Funny it just "hit" me that way!!! 😎🚶🎶🤫🕴️👣💩-tin!!! 🤣
First time I noticed it I thought exactly the same. “He probably walks with his right arm so rigid and close to his body because he once was an agent, he probably used to hold a weapon with his right hand”. I think it’s like a body memory or something like that, I don’t know about these things.
Greg Lopes Most of this big shots have at least something strange with themselves. Remember Obama, left handed, has very inspiring speech,Look at Trump's hair style, has no mercy, etc
He just has a gun on his right side under his clothes. Keeps arm closer so he can get to a gun quicker. Nothing special and if you even carry a knife you will pick up a habit of doing this also.
It's simple actually. But someone that doesn't carry a firearm or gone through firearms training wouldn't recognize this habit. Its used to quickly and effectively draw your sidearm, while also quickly being able to react to an assailant grabbing it and offering maximum protection. It has nothing to do with a disease.
That, and word around is he has an old back injury, which is why his sitting posture tends to be asymmetrical too. I've seen video where he limps slightly, as one does when holding the back stiff to minimize pain. In combination with his early training, this could serve to exaggerate his gait. Nothing wrong with his brain, tho. Per everything I've seen, the guy is super-sharp.
This is pretty common for people with martial arts training, military training, and experience carrying a sidearm, no matter the country. One example is being able to unholster, aim, and fire five shots in five seconds at the target in a three-inch cluster.
Funny thing is, me also walking like this with no millitary traning, just bit of aikido training and a lot of historical reanactment fighting training. I blame it all on use of shield - muscle memory overcompensate for heavier load of the left side and more stiff movement.
i like vsauce better tbh i think simon here is vague with alot of information and has been incorrect at time also which annoys me since he portrays himself to be this big 1 man news outlet. thats not to say michael from vsauce is probably incorrect at times
When I tire, I sometimes walk like a chicken (meaning moving my head forwards and backwards with each step). It’s not very pronounced but my mom bugs me about it. So don’t worry about it.
if your feet are slightly spread apart, dont worry, its something biological. I walk weird because of that and because of my bad posture from sitting too much infront of the computer.
Uh Huh yeah im pretty sure he does, he goes hunting quite often so he seems like he is still active enough, he is also a micro manager so he needs to be self reliant which would also call for the need to carry. The more interesting question is what gun does he carry
123 456 yeah i honestly think he is gonna carry something along the lines of a P-96 family weapon. Its a russian high capacity ultra concealable weapon.
@@user-ve8ry1xw8v He carries a 9x21mm (not 9x19 luger or 9x18 makarov!) Serdyukov SPS, so does the FSB (KGB) and his bodyguards. Looks very similar to the Makarov.
Lol he’s as ready to shoot and defend himself as his body guards. Hate him or love him you have to admit Putin is one of the few World Leaders who would make a good war time president
Yeah a lot of people who carry tend to adopt a lotta subconscious behaviors like this. It's actually a big part of some police and secret service training to recognize those behaviors to pick out who may possibly be a concealed weapon threat. Can be pretty good to actively train yourself to avoid doing them if you CC often, so you're not quite so obvious to people with the awareness to look out for it. Even some non-trained people can just subconsciously pick up that you're walking threatingly and just feel more uncomfortable around you.
I remember seeing him for the first time as he walked into a room. I told my husband (who used to work as a translator for finno-ugric languages found in the former USSR) - "I bet that guy used to be in the KGB. He sweeps the room with his eyes as if he were the bodyguard, not the guy being guarded." I had no clue at the time who Putin was or what he did, but that gait and the way he scans a room are pretty telling.
Did anybody ever stop 2 think put in is cleaning up a USA put in government? They r corrupt. Just like all government. 8 USA bio labs n government buildings gone. But not the utility? 1st thing an invaders do is take out communications n utilities. Oh rite. Ukraine gets their internet from......... Russia!!!. So why not turn their internet off? Maybe just maybe putin is taking out the 🗑?
Agreed. It just makes sense. I have noticed that I have a tendancy to not swing my left arm. I attribute that to my own equestrian training. The body and left arm remains straight and still while neck reigning with the right arm. This has become such a habit that even when I'm not riding .. I often maintain that riding posture. It becomes 2nd nature.
I have this gait also. Medical professionals sometimes pick it up. It is due to me carrying shoulder bags for many years, and clamping it to my body with my arm to prevent pickpockets!
M Johnsen thing is, he wasn’t a combative asset in the KGB, and so would not have been carrying a firearm. In addition, the manual is designed for KGB special operations units, not regular agents, so he would have had nothing to do with that manual.
Vlasta Molak I hear the CIA has a whole unit dedicated to analysing Putin and everything about his person, including his gait. Apart from that, anyone who is in at least some small way moved by his macho/everyman/dictator lifestyle would want to know.
Jesiah Mac I've always thought couldn't had a gun on him. I know besides bodyguards if I was the president of a country I would be packing all the time.
I bet he carries a concealed weapon and I can’t blame him if he does. I don’t even run a nuclear state, but can understand the need for self-defense. At the end of the day, you are your own last line of defense in a threatening situation. Adding the responsibilities and sheer weight of his position, only multiplies that about a billion times over.
before the video. I know Putin walks weird is because he use to be in KGB. KGB Teaches you how to walk while ready to fire. Your side the gun is on the arm doesnt sway so that they're always ready to pull out a gun at any time. Putin keeps doing it and cannot stop due to muscle memory.
TheGreenRobotProduct probably chooses not to also, because silent "Im super trained ex-KGB" halo is part of his image as the macho high efficiency serious manly man protector father of Russia.
Ari Takalo, My thoughts too. A spy who would reveal himself simply by walking would not be a very good spy. I'm sure everyone who's been formed at KGB can control that gait if they want to.
"Vladimir Putin was born in Leningrad in the Soviet Union. He studied law at the Saint Petersburg State University, graduating in 1975.[6] Putin was a KGB foreign intelligence officer for 16 years, rising to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel before retiring in 1991"
One of my older bosses was a major and did 2 tour's of Vietnam. He had a very upright sort of straight leg walk. A commanding walk is best way to describe it. It was ingrained in his subconscious and he never lost it after all these years. Putin is the same from, his KGB days, packing or not.
I can spot a military guy (and male cop) just by that walk. No matter how long they've been out and how much the rest of their appearance changed. The posture remains.
@ Louise skip That doesn't apply only to military officers Ms. Skip. Being an enlisted Navy veteran myself, One learns to walk upright and with purpose in the military regardless of ones rank. And for most, there's pride in the uniform and of one's service that shows in how you carry yourself. Confident and capable. ✌🇺🇸
The posture that kills me is the one where soldiers keep their heads pushed back with their chins very close to their chests. I wonder what longterm effects it causes as far as head, back and neck pain are concerned.
I also have a habit of swinging my left arm but not my right when I walk. In my case I picked it up by carrying a clarinet in my right hand while marching in a military band.
With no knowledge of the reasons Putin might do this, my first guess was "probably so he can easily reach a weapon ASAP". Also, a team of doctors spent time writing a paper about how Putin walks? Is that seriously the most important thing they could think of to do?
The paper is about the movement pattern in general. The method used is video analysis. The reason why it spins around Putin and other Russian officials is probably that they exhibit this behaviour repeatedly and constantly, and videos of them are widely available, so they are a good study material. Even if that was not the case, the health of the leader of the second most militarily powerful country in the world should be everybody's concern. Even more so, when all four doctors come from NATO member countries.
It was most likely just them trying to do the whole "this man who I disagree with politically has a mental illness and thats why I am right!" and then they grasp at straws to try and find semi-plausible evidence. They did the same with Trump on multiple occasions and those claims were just as silly and unlikely as this one.
+Garfield But they didn't find any mental illness. They faithfully published their findings. It's just a holdover from his KGB days, nothing wrong there.
I had never observed that in Putin, but as soon as I started watching this video, that was my first thought. He probably got used to walking that way in the KGB so he could quickly unholster his gun. Doesn't seem like you need a team of scientists to make that assumption.
Heck, I didn't even know he is former KGB and I even figured that he was holding a gun to his side; given the tumultuous nature of Russian politics, it would make all the sense for their highest leader to walk around packing so he could defend himself easier.
I have this "gunslinger's gait" too from my years in the Marine Corps. But I have it on my left arm instead, and it's from having a SAW, a highly portable 17 pound machine-gun also known as the "Squad Automatic Weapon," strapped across my back during four separate overseas deployments. If you sling one of these things across your back to carry it around all day, you have to use your left hand to hold onto the foregrip in order to keep it from bouncing off the back of your thigh every time you take a step. Even old Marines like me can bruise eventually :(
I wasn’t a gun toting service member but I was in the Air Force. I just sort of picked up this same gait after getting out. No idea it was so “different”
Why do you respect a thief? I live in Russia and I can understand russians who support Huilo - propaganda here is really strong. But you're from Indonesia.. :/

Yes what a joke this video is. Like they do not even have the "Putin walk" demonstrated by an actor.
Hence my down vote.
"Why no video of Putin actually walking you ask? Unfortunately, it's a copyright issue. If we used footage, then we risk getting the video flagged and getting a copyright strike. Three of those strikes and the channel goes away... So I hope you can understand our desire to play it pretty safe with this stuff. Indeed copyright is often the reason we won't show something that seems like it should super-obviously be included... " (pinned comment)
Go to videos that show Putin walking. Especially the one with Putin walking down a hallway to his inauguration.
If u read the video info you would know it's due to possible copyright infringmwnt
I wouldn't rule out the possibility that he still actually carries a gun from time to time

Wait, a bunch of doctors got together to figure out why a world leader was walking funny?
...Is that the scientific equivalent of paparazzi?
Timothy McLean Right? Don’t they have anything better to do? LOL
It's their area of interest. Using their research for real world application is something that is otherwise an unanimous positive, but in certain cases I guess that it can appear funny. But if it's a symptom of, say Parkinsons, it could be useful to know for MDs.
They do the same about Trump lmao
Human beings are fucking idiots. All it would take to excuse unusual walking patterns is "well, there was some sort of training to get to that pattern of walking, like how people who know what to look for can tell if you've been in the military. Putin was KGB, so that probably has something to do with it." and a bunch of people got paid for that shit. How the fuck can I get in on some of that money? Analyzing people is easy as shit.

there has to be a dance move in there somewhere... "it's the kgb walk."
shouldn't intelligence agents be as inconspicuous as possible? to blend into the general public?
"Do the KGB walk" is part of the lyrics of "Walk Like A KGB".... Cool tune ... Something like "Walk like an Egyptian" ...
Bear wrestling injury
If this were discussing Theodore Roosevelt, that might actually be true.
You mean a big hairy gay?
First time I noticed it I thought exactly the same. “He probably walks with his right arm so rigid and close to his body because he once was an agent, he probably used to hold a weapon with his right hand”. I think it’s like a body memory or something like that, I don’t know about these things.
Greg Lopes you watch too many spy films. Just because he was an agent doesn't mean he was armed
I think if I was Putin I would want to keep a weapon up my sleeve.
Greg Lopes Most of this big shots have at least something strange with themselves. Remember Obama, left handed, has very inspiring speech,Look at Trump's hair style, has no mercy, etc
maybe....
"I don't know about these things." Lol😁😂😅
I thought it is because he has a gun hid in his sleeve.
And I am probably right
He just has a gun on his right side under his clothes. Keeps arm closer so he can get to a gun quicker. Nothing special and if you even carry a knife you will pick up a habit of doing this also.
Damn that took all 12 chromosomes to come up with.
Wouldn't be surprising. Even though its near impossible for civilians to own guns in his country, I expect him to be well armed. personally.
One does not "concealed carry," one carries a concealed weapon.
"Like early case of Parkinsons" as now Putin has been seen trembling. All hail the Medior of Knowledge Simon!
Its not him walking weird. It is everyone else walking weird.
That's got me thinking; I wonder if crabs think we walk sideways?
@@Otacatapetl interesting thought! O.o
Hail!!
So what you're basically saying is, the president of the Russian Federation is packing heat under those clothes.
Alexander Reeves good observation...
Haha ok mate. Its because he has aspurgers. I have it too and have the same arm problem.
Per everything I've seen, the guy is super-sharp.
he injured his lower back back in 2006 or so. Look at anyone with this problem it's quite clear. Bulging discs or radiculopathy
This is pretty common for people with martial arts training, military training, and experience carrying a sidearm, no matter the country. One example is being able to unholster, aim, and fire five shots in five seconds at the target in a three-inch cluster.
Its called a "group" not a "cluster"
Funny thing is, me also walking like this with no millitary traning, just bit of aikido training and a lot of historical reanactment fighting training. I blame it all on use of shield - muscle memory overcompensate for heavier load of the left side and more stiff movement.
Your genitals are a three-inch cluster.
Yeah I knew immediately what it was from because I do it myself while I carry concealed.
Good, now I do not have to type out a comment explaining concealed carry tactics.

if your feet are slightly spread apart, dont worry, its something biological. I walk weird because of that and because of my bad posture from sitting too much infront of the computer.
It’s a trained walk. The KGB trained them to walk this way. Their right hand stays close to a weapon on their hip.
Short answer, he was a KGB agent for years and is used to keeping his hand by a pistol.
Soviet KGB officers used shoulder holster for Makarov pistols
Exactly.
Maybe he still walks the KGB way because he’s armed
Damnnatio i think your right
I’m sure he still carries a weapon, it would be foolish not to.
Uh Huh yeah im pretty sure he does, he goes hunting quite often so he seems like he is still active enough, he is also a micro manager so he needs to be self reliant which would also call for the need to carry. The more interesting question is what gun does he carry
Z_sub gaming do think he would go all classic Soviet with a makarov or would he use a super high-tech wonder nine like a glock?
123 456 yeah i honestly think he is gonna carry something along the lines of a P-96 family weapon. Its a russian high capacity ultra concealable weapon.

@@Grimmers That, exactly.
Daily for 17 years here so far and no odd walk, though I CC at 12:00-1:00 position(lefty). Might have something to do with it.
You are talking about Putin's physical issues, but your jaw pulls to your right as you speak.

VegasGirl35 I'm out, too. Cut to the Chase, already 🙄❗

VegasGirl35
P
I have this gait also. Medical professionals sometimes pick it up. It is due to me carrying shoulder bags for many years, and clamping it to my body with my arm to prevent pickpockets!
Me too.
The gunslinger's gait was literally the first thing I thought when I saw Putin walk; he's just resting his arm next to his (potential) firearm
It's clear he walks this way because he's accustomed to carrying a firearm.
Well, it's not said anywhere that he ever stopped, he was FSB (KGB successor) director in 1998.
M Johnsen thing is, he wasn’t a combative asset in the KGB, and so would not have been carrying a firearm. In addition, the manual is designed for KGB special operations units, not regular agents, so he would have had nothing to do with that manual.
Who cares how Putin walks?
Vlasta Molak I hear the CIA has a whole unit dedicated to analysing Putin and everything about his person, including his gait. Apart from that, anyone who is in at least some small way moved by his macho/everyman/dictator lifestyle would want to know.

I broke my right arm over 7years ago and during that time I didn’t use the arm much. Therefore ever since I walk just like this.
before the video.
TheGreenRobotProduct, I was gonna say that too. xD
KGB Has been disbanded for 10+ years. No point to not be silent.
@ Louise skip
That doesn't apply only to military officers Ms. Skip. Being an enlisted Navy veteran myself, One learns to walk upright and with purpose in the military regardless of ones rank. And for most, there's pride in the uniform and of one's service that shows in how you carry yourself. Confident and capable.

Is that seriously the most important thing they could think of to do?
no but that's what they wanted to do
The paper is about the movement pattern in general.
The paper was about slightly more than just Putin's walking behavior.
I know I'm late to this but he's probably still carrying a weapon on that side

READ THE FIRST COMMENT
I had never observed that in Putin, but as soon as I started watching this video, that was my first thought. He probably got used to walking that way in the KGB so he could quickly unholster his gun. Doesn't seem like you need a team of scientists to make that assumption.
Heck, I didn't even know he is former KGB and I even figured that he was holding a gun to his side; given the tumultuous nature of Russian politics, it would make all the sense for their highest leader to walk around packing so he could defend himself easier.
Its because he has aspergers. Not because he is james bond lol nice one tho
SOOOOL no one said he was james bond or anything remotely like that.
Even old Marines like me can bruise eventually :(
I do the same thing with my right arm after walking many miles with an m16.
I wasn’t a gun toting service member but I was in the Air Force. I just sort of picked up this same gait after getting out. No idea it was so “different”
Lucas Nielsen same here. I was in the Navy. People at work give me flak for it from time to time.
He was KGB earlier wasn’t he? First thing I thought is a tendency to keep his hand close to his gun.
