0:29 Every four legged animal does this and it's basically the exact same step order still, even when humans just walk on two legs. When running, this transforms into the same step order as a trot. In other words, humans naturally walk as if they'd walk on both legs and arms, just with the body upright and the arms not touching the ground. So it's a legacy of instinct that has survived ages of evolution.
3:22 Well, _his_ KGB days haven't ended yet, I presume...

It makes a ton of sense for him to be armed. He's a prominent world leader, one whom many have mixed feelings about. I imagine it's more being ready than an old habit. At any point somebody could draw on him, he needs to be ready to fire back.

@@tomcat8662 this makes sense, but in his KGB training he never mentioned why and what reasons. It's just his style because he was ready to give everything for his country. And no. I know lots of people who walk like this or similar ways. They carried pistols as side arms be it in war or civil times it's all the same. And years later without even carrying weapons anymore the movement imbeded into the mind.
I personally also had to learn to walk slowly and still to this day struggle with it, soon as I move, I make fast movements, ever since when I was a kid and young adult I was always in a hurry to school or jobs due to penalties etc, later when I retired, I just couldn't slow down. Often people tell me I look like I am charging an attack at someone and fear me even tho I just moved from A to B with a causal intend.
Also for people who don't know, it isn't healthy to walk fast all the time, body needs moderate movements the extremes and strains being a short burst only.

What comes to mind for me is that "hit" song from the 90's by Genesis; "I CAN'T DANCE" song just popped into my head while watching this video! Lyrics...
Hot sun beating down Burning my feet just walking around.
Hot sun making me sweat 'Gators getting close, hasn't got me yet.
I can't dance, I can't talk. The only thing about me is the way I walk.
    I can't dance, I can't sing I'm just standing here selling everything.
Blue jeans sitting on the beach, Her dog's talking to me, but she's out of reach.
She's got a body under that shirt, But all she wants to do is rub my face in the dirt.
Cause, I can't dance, I can't talk. The only thing about me is the way I walk.
    No, I can't dance, I can't sing I'm just standing here selling.
And checking everything is in place, You never know who's looking on.
Young punk spilling beer on my shoes, Fat guy's talking to me trying to steal my blues.
Thick smoke, see her smiling through. I never thought so much could happen just shooting pool.
But I can't dance, I can't talk. The only thing about me is the way I walk.
I can't dance, I can't sing I'm just standing here selling And checking everything is in place.
You never know who's looking on.
A perfect body with a perfect face.
These lyrics if you read between the lines ("just standing here selling and checking everything's in place," " you never know who's looking on" the hypervigilance of an agent!) and imagine it's really about secret service/agents, following their training, speaking in code!!! Funny it just "hit" me that way!!! 😎🚶🎶🤫🕴️👣💩-tin!!! 🤣

That, and word around is he has an old back injury, which is why his sitting posture tends to be asymmetrical too. I've seen video where he limps slightly, as one does when holding the back stiff to minimize pain. In combination with his early training, this could serve to exaggerate his gait.

Yeah a lot of people who carry tend to adopt a lotta subconscious behaviors like this. It's actually a big part of some police and secret service training to recognize those behaviors to pick out who may possibly be a concealed weapon threat.
Can be pretty good to actively train yourself to avoid doing them if you CC often, so you're not quite so obvious to people with the awareness to look out for it. Even some non-trained people can just subconsciously pick up that you're walking threatingly and just feel more uncomfortable around you.

He sweeps the room with his eyes as if he were the bodyguard, not the guy being guarded." The paper is about the movement pattern in general. The method used is video analysis. The reason why it spins around Putin and other Russian officials is probably that they exhibit this behaviour repeatedly and constantly, and videos of them are widely available, so they are a good study material.
Even if that was not the case, the health of the leader of the second most militarily powerful country in the world should be everybody's concern. Even more so, when all four doctors come from NATO member countries.

I have this "gunslinger's gait" too from my years in the Marine Corps. But I have it on my left arm instead, and it's from having a SAW, a highly portable 17 pound machine-gun also known as the "Squad Automatic Weapon," strapped across my back during four separate overseas deployments. If you sling one of these things across your back to carry it around all day, you have to use your left hand to hold onto the foregrip in order to keep it from bouncing off the back of your thigh every time you take a step. Even old Marines like me can bruise eventually :(
