+aguyandhiscomputer oh dear, I'm flattered. The movie, as with just about everything produced by Studio Ghibli is really beautiful and the soundtrack is just lovely. I really don't think we've done it justice here (well, my harpist friend nailed her parts so just me) but I'm glad you enjoyed this. =)
~nanyen Thank you! Is there some sort of Chinese version of the cello as well? I remember seeing one slightly bigger (but that might be my mind playing tricks)
Roman Arriaga Sort of. There are different sizes/versions of the erhu, the "viola" version is the zhonghu, and then there is also a large version of it the "da hu" which would i suppose be your cello version? and there are others that are similar but not played the same way as well...
thanks, I think it might've been the zhonghu, I saw some images of the da hu, which seems bigger. I've always wanted to incorporate them in my songs. And I see they're not that expensive :D Now all I would need is to learn how to play it... Thanks for the info!
Ohh, that's cool! It's definitely not something you hear everyday, the zhonghu is the much less known version and it's pretty rare to have anyone focus on incorporating it into most compositions. I'd want to hear what you've got!
Hi! I'm guessing you mean the instrument other than the harp? It's called the "Erhu"--a traditional Chinese bowed string instrument. It has two strings (which gives it its chinese name), and it's pretty much the equivalent of the western violin in Chinese music. =)
Actually we use piano sheet music for the harp! Try searching the piano sheet music and that should be easier to find. I cant remember where we got our version from though, I'm really sorry about that!
Congrats. You just made a grown man cry. Such a beautiful song and movie. Watch it with my 2 girls all the time.

So beautiful, so tenderly. Thank You!
It's a Chinese version of the violin, more or less, called the Erhu. =)
