@sylas yufayyur The person who made this video included subtitles... they intended for them to be seen and read and understood. This is a video for educational purposes, not a real life interaction. It should be written correctly if its included in the video. It is important if someone is writing in English to know the difference between using "to" and "too".

I wouldn't show this video to my ESL class, those schmuck customers didn't say please and thank you once. There's enough rude English customers already, smh.
Questions: What did the guy choose for a drink? What did the girl choose for a drink? What did the guy order for the main course? What did the girl order for the main course? Does the guy like spicy dishes? Who ordered a cheesecake? Did they like the food and service?
When I started planning my lesson the first thing I taught them was that they must say please and thank you. I would consider these customers to be quite rude.
Yes, I carefully studied real conversations at nice restaurants to get this dialogue. If you want clever dialogue study great movies. It takes years to learn to write great dialogue, that's why you won't find any in textbooks.
Kyle Cott So, there should not be a question mark after 'check', is that what you are referring to? Also it would be better to say 'have the check' rather than 'take', but maybe that's American English to say 'take the check'.
Storm4155 yeah, this is a common American phrase. At least in the Midwest "I'll take the check" is more common than "I'll have the check" (I often ask "Can I get the check?")
Advice to the next class: Play this at .75 and it sounds slightly better. Also subtitles do need a rework, but that's been mentioned before. These aren't actors, so its understandably not going to be a quality performance, but there are a few errors which make this not work well for its purpose. It is almost a requirement to slow the playback speed for this to be usable for beginners as the lesson mentions.
Don`t like the hair hanging over the shoulder. I worked in a restaurant where the waitresses carried the trays on their shoulder and sometimes their hair would a actually touch the food! Sooo gross!
great!!, with this grammar and pronunsations we can speak fluently...please sharing us more videos like this...gracias amigos, esperamos estar mas en contacto
This is good, covers all the basics. The restaurant experience is different in China and this really shows how a restaurant meal is different in terms of interactions with the waitress.
It's really agood vieo and covers all aspects of the conversation at restaurant for ordering the food. The costumers and waitress are the beautiful. I love watching your videos cos it's short and so sweet too. Pls prepare more such videos on other aspects of the English conversation.
The title, "Diner Full Movie" is a a trashy, irresponsible ploy. And until you learn to edit your summaries, you probably shouldn't be instructing anyone on how to use the English language.
We use both words interchangeably. In the Southern part of the US you may even here the word "ticket" used to refer to a bill or check but you would never hear "ticket" in other parts of the US.
I'm from the US, and I prefer the term "bill" myself. The term "check" seems strange to me, but it's commonly used, so you kind of have to get used to it if you're in the US.
This is a terrible video. It's incredibly fast. The text is not accurate. And when the gentleman asked for the check, his text read "We'll take the check?" That's not a question. In the beginning, the waitress asks if they would like bottled or "regular." What's "regular" water? TAP?
Often it is, yes. It depends on the type of restaurant. High-end/expensive restaurants will expect you to sit for a long time and will not ask you if you want the bill/check. Less expensive/more busy restaurants will have many tables throughout the night. Americans do not generally sit for hours like Europeans. Usually the server (we no longer use the term waiter in most big cities) will ask if you would like anything else and you will reply "just the check, thank you" or "just the bill, thank you." Sometimes a server will ask if you would like the check in very casual circumstances. Servers are very attentive in North America (they work mostly on tips) and they learn when it is appropriate to ask or not, or sometimes just bring it for "when you are ready to pay". Americans get frustrated when they travel as the custom (in Europe at least) is to leave the customers alone for long stretches of time. This would be considered rude/neglectful in North America, but it is polite in Europe, as they are allowing the customer to enjoy their meal/relax.

On behalf of a tired ESL teacher-- Thank you!!
omg thanks!!
Bless you!😍
It's impressive that a two-minute video can feel like two hours. Yikes.
Great video, thanks. Only one small correction, it is "I'll have some too" not to.
MotherDust why don't you mind your business bitch
Lyokonite lol
@Lyokonite thank you
Great, but it should be "I'll have some too" not "to"
@sylas yufayyur True! But its also important to see it written out correctly when you are learning :)
@sylas yufayyur The person who made this video included subtitles... they intended for them to be seen and read and understood. This is a video for educational purposes, not a real life interaction. It should be written correctly if its included in the video. It is important if someone is writing in English to know the difference between using "to" and "too".
This video sucks and yet I have to build a class lesson around it as homework. Terrific.
Me too. And I totally feel your pain.
Same..... ITA?
lol we all must have the same class, because yeah I'm there as well. I loath having to watch this multiple times to get this lesson plan together.
me TO. lol :P
Anyone feel like sharing their LP for the rest of us ITA students? lol "no need to reinvent the wheel"...

He ruined the steak by ordering it "medium."
My personal favorite is the woman ordering grilled chicken and salad with dressing on the side, and then cheesecake. :P
no, he ruined the steak by asking for a knife and not eating it like a savage.
Questions:
What did the guy choose for a drink?
What did the girl choose for a drink?
What did the guy order for the main course?
What did the girl order for the main course?
Does the guy like spicy dishes?
Who ordered a cheesecake?
Did they like the food and service?
When I started planning my lesson the first thing I taught them was that they must say please and thank you. I would consider these customers to be quite rude.
Excellent point for teaching culture !
For critics: try recording yourselves the next time you dine out. I think you'll discover we all sound equally banal - if not worse - in real life.
Yes, I carefully studied real conversations at nice restaurants to get this dialogue. If you want clever dialogue study great movies. It takes years to learn to write great dialogue, that's why you won't find any in textbooks.
This is the way people really talk. Very good for my students.
yes, these are the real conversations between the english speakers
What is the actress' name (the customer) in this video? I swear she is famous now.
dat waittress is beautiful 😍😘
" I'll have some to "
Storm4155 and also "we'll take the check?"
Kyle Cott So, there should not be a question mark after 'check', is that what you are referring to? Also it would be better to say 'have the check' rather than 'take', but maybe that's American English to say 'take the check'.
Storm4155 you can also say "Should I get your bill?"
Storm4155 yeah, this is a common American phrase. At least in the Midwest "I'll take the check" is more common than "I'll have the check" (I often ask "Can I get the check?")
Right? OMG...
The acting is like when you step on a lego
Yep. PAINFUL.
oh my is very fast, but if they took the left over food to go, why they ordered a dessert???
Some of us have a "separate stomach" for dessert :D
We can always eat ice cream or cake ;)
This is a very useful video for English speaking activities.
Advice to the next class: Play this at .75 and it sounds slightly better. Also subtitles do need a rework, but that's been mentioned before. These aren't actors, so its understandably not going to be a quality performance, but there are a few errors which make this not work well for its purpose. Waitress is beautiful 😍😊
It's a bit embarrassing to watch. I'm thinking of how I order stuff and the waitress having to be all polite about it all...
Vengo por tarea de ingles AaaAaAah!!! Cuántos drinks ordenó el señor
The word "the check" is called in American English. But It's called "the bill" in British English.
Don`t like the hair hanging over the shoulder. I worked in a restaurant where the waitresses carried the trays on their shoulder and sometimes their hair would a actually touch the food! Sooo gross!
Perfect!Thanks!
great!!, with this grammar and pronunsations we can speak fluently...please sharing us more videos like this...gracias amigos, esperamos estar mas en contacto
thanks for making this type of restaurant video

THANK YOU. Ms. Waitress must be a mind-reader. Who forgets steak knives.
The title, "Diner Full Movie" is a a trashy, irresponsible ploy. And until you learn to edit your summaries, you probably shouldn't be instructing anyone on how to use the English language.
Did it say...produced by Fat Rat Education. Idk about y'all but that's the best name for something I've heard in a long time
we'll take the check?
I subscribed your video but I need to know more in this video like welcoming geust plz make a video.....
Great lesson for ordering at a restaurant! thanks for the effort :)
Using this video for a class; the content is okay but there’s a grammatical error. They use the wrong form of the word ‘too.’
top notch, thanks. Will use it in 30mins for student who is probably sick to death of my voice.
so goooood i like mens
They don't say "please" to the waitress
they do if they arent an asshole
Paulux de lux
What they call the "check" is called the "bill" in Britain and Australia.
+Jason Bolster Thank you for share :)
We use both words interchangeably. In the Southern part of the US you may even here the word "ticket" used to refer to a bill or check but you would never hear "ticket" in other parts of the US.
I'm not familiar with calling it the "ticket."
Confirmed. Been to South Carolina and heard "ticket" a few times. Not common though.
I'm from the US, and I prefer the term "bill" myself. The term "check" seems strange to me, but it's commonly used, so you kind of have to get used to it if you're in the US.
thank you so much. For your video. Because I learnt so many things. how to take order. when customers arrived.
Cool !!!! pour reviser :p

Is there a version without subtitles?
SuperMelibelly Great idea. I will be moving to China in September and rebuilding my site then and add it.
Awesome! I'm actually moving to Madrid in September myself. I'll stay tuned. Good luck!
+Brett Brown Do you teach English in China?
I just have ss listen but I don't have them watch the first time. The second time we watch, and subtitles can be helpful.

Yes, it should have been tap water not "regular"... No one even knows what that means.
🌷🙏
Just perfect for the class I´ll do tonight!!!! :D Thanks!
😹
Very good, realistic English used in this situation. :)
I wonder if ITA would still send us to watch this video if they knew the blonde actress was in the film "Bar Hopping Hotties."
Im sure ITA choose this video because of her well renowned career
hi you speek very fast I scarcely understand some phrases could you speeking ...
