I do a lot for my local small 100yr old church as far as broadcast and audio as a tech director. This video helped so much as I look at transitioning to digital like we use in my day job mixing for large scale corporate events. The church I attend is small (40 people live), and their budget has been like non existent, so I lent all my own gear to run the livestream. It is like doing gymnastics on an old analogue console to get the broadcast to sound decent with just a stereo feed from the board. The volunteers we have on the audio side are always tweaking gain and faders live, so it gets challenging surfing the faders in Vmix or on my Atem as I feed Vmix from the Atem where the audio comes in from the board. Looking forward to upgrading to digital, and I may just buy something simple like a Behringer X Air 18, but....I prefer something like this, a Midas M32, or a Behringer x32....like the Wing 48 but with what we have going on at this old church it probably is not going to ever rise to that level of need (Unless I am wrong). Anyway, your videos are so well done, and so intuitive, I have learned much from Churchfront. I just wish we could get a tech grant, or had actual funding to improve our audio setup.
Our board and Dante system are doing well, but they are older and in a semi-open environment. I don't want to say we need to consider buying something new in the near future, but also I somehow keep getting surprised at how fast technology moves. And I still need to change my mental model that Tascam are the funny people that just make audio recorders 😅This is a serious piece of kit!
How is the multi-track recording setup? Meaning I have a Tascam DP-32SD does it us the MTR like that where you can punch in and out record your vocals and lay overdubs on them? The reason why I ask is because I recently bought a Model 24 strictly due to the MTR functionality on it and it does not function like a "Pro Studio" solution rather more like doing a live performance. I do not wish to record live performances I am simply wanting to add a multi-track recorder as my centerpiece in my studio will it work like this or is it just another live performance piece? $7000 is a lot of money and there will be not "trial and error" on this much money. Can you help because there are VERY FEW videos on RUclips about the SONICVIEW and they are not geared towards somebody like me that just wish to record without having to use a DAW. Thank you.
Great review, so is this YOUR new go-to (or personal choice) for a ~$6K mid-priced console? You were a Wing guy as I recall, and, at twice the price of the Wing is it your opinion it's worth the jump? I'd have to sell off my DL32 and also go with a (Dante) stage box that is also twice the price. Thank you in advance.
Looks good, is this video a paid advertisement? I've been following this channel for a while now, and often wonder how many of the products presented here are ads or provided by the companies for free.
Hey Jake thanks again for the in dept video. Keep them coming. Two thing i’d like to add. 1st : can you please turn down those cymbals. 😂😂😂 just kidding. 2nd: Whats Your thoughts comparing this Tascam with the Wing. I know the Dante is a big thing. Outside that wich one would you choose?
Great video. Im thinking about moving from Pro Tools to this for my recording format. Tired of the constant updates and CPU overload. This just seems to work. Plus I still have the option to go to Pro Tools. What are your thoughts? Can you record to a external hard drive instead of SD card? Thanks again 👍
Hi Jake, we are thinking to upgrade to this mixer in our church and considering also SQ series, which one will you recommend? we are running TF series now
how do you like the dugan auto-mixer? ... oh nevermind.... how about the multi-band compressor? ...oh... nevermind..... maybe those will come in a firmware upate....
I tried to do good at my church. I left about 4 months ago and haven't been back to church since. If I learned anything it's that church for the most part is not about your desire to be called from sin. It's more about power structures and hierarchy. Just my observation.
Keep searching, Chris. They're not all the same. And remember churches are filled and run by people. And all people are sinful by nature. We can only hope that as they are filled with the Holy Spirit, sin is diluted and has less impact on their attitudes and actions. But it will always be there until we are together with Christ. Tbe best way to let sin grow is to avoid fellowship with God's people. Don't do yourself that disservice because of a few people who might be managing the wrong way. You'll only be hurting yourself while having no impact on them.
Really enjoyed your review, thanks. The Sonicview has been out for a year, but there aren't many reviews on it. It looks like a great unit.
Not bad at all! the onboard dante is a definitely highlight for me

How reliable is the 'record multi-track to SSD' feature? (ie. is it easily choked by multiple signals and then fail to record?)

You can record over usb to a computer if you so desire!
Any comparison thoughts about the Sonicview versus dLive?
This thing looks awesome! BUILT IN DANTE and 2 card slots?!?!? So awesome!
Great Job. But come on over to the Wing Compact Family. ❤
Wow looks like the Allen&Heath SQ Series 😮

Why not try this sonicview?!?
How long does it take to train a volunteer and do you lose volunteers because of complexity?
I work for TASCAM. I train people on this console all the time and can get people feeling comfortable with in in 15-30 minutes no problem!
how does it compare to SQ?
Sick board!
how do you like the dugan auto-mixer? ... oh nevermind.... how about the multi-band compressor? ...oh... nevermind..... maybe those will come in a firmware upate....
Are you seriously comparing a $30,000+ console to this?
@@mnretrogamer oh sorry, i was just pointing out features a $700 behringer XR18 mixer has that this tascam sonic view does not
you should drop the tracks so we can practice mixing!
He should run through the recording process so we can see what that is like....! Nobody else has done that on here that I have found.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
