Booby-trapped nail guns are the future!
It's horrible to think of these people breaking into these vans. We had a Ford Transit and tied the back door shut from the inside for added protection. I knew a guy who was a plumber in the U.K that got robbed while he was working, pinched the tools from his van.
I moved to Canada and it's very peaceful over here, no trouble at all and builders are treated very well.
Cheap ebay tracker. paint ball /airsoft smoke grenades attached to trip wires .Hidden switches for fuel pump and head lights etc
I had my tools stolen a while back. Afterwards I worked out how to put a gps tracking device into an 18v battery.
It actually works. I’m currently getting things in place to get it manufactured in China. Will be selling them on eBay soon as a modified product.
Works for dewalt, Milwaukee and makita batteries.
Hopefully it will enable people to recover their tools once stolen.

Found your channel today and a timely subject. Thames Valley Police have recently found two containers of stolen tools in Buckingham, this is after sixty five vans done in tha area in last month. A real plague and I know at least two locals who have been done. A proper firm doing a proper job for you and i am impressed, Thanks
Great to see skilled professional t work. The sight of some additional deadlock should put mot people off. Most thieves are opportunistic and don't want to spend too much time breaking in.

Alarms are useless. They only tell you ‘you’ve just just been robbed ‘. Those dead locks are ok but still not best. Best would be toxic gases , explozives or mad dogs inside the van

Hear far too many stories of hard working tradesmen having their livelihood stolen from their vans. It's appalling. I hear the police aren't coming out to speak to victims even in cases where they may have CCTV footage of the bastards that robbed them! Under resourced! Absolutely no deterrent.

I live in California but I hear in Texas you can shoot them
I could be wrong, but I think we blame the police when our government funding to the police is probably not sufficient so in cases where theft from a van is probably covered by Insurance the police will pay less attention to it. They will obviously do something if the tools resurface otherwise they'll focus use of funds in other areas. Shame really.

I'd have one going up into the roof frame of the doors too! I think that would still peel with that top hook lock it'll be tougher but it'll just bring the other side door down with it make a bigger hole! Put a hook lock to the roof latch to stop a stretch more never broke into a vehicle nor never will but did work in a scrappy for a few months and we had to get into ivecos with the top locks and was still pretty easy we fitted a top hook to the roof on our own and tested it on a scraper it worked great never peeled atoll

First van I had that was alarmed, I thought I was totally safe. Then one night I hear the alarm going off on the van parked right outside my house on a small urban street. I look outside to see another van in the street next to mine and at first think, he's pulled up so close its set off my alarm. But my remote wasnt turning off the alarm so i go out there and there is one guy in this other van and i see my back door open and glass on the ground. The driver see's me and starts driving even with me standing in front of him, then two guys are jumping out of the back of my van and now I know what is happening. It was all so quick and i didnt have the keys on me, so by the time I got them the other van and other guys were long gone.
Another time I was working with my big cube van parked in the back garden of this house, and I look through the bedroom window to see someone in the van robing it. Guy must have been on crack cause he heard me coming and we both ran, but he was much faster!
So after those robberies and many others, can you imagine how i felt when me and two of my guys were working late on a saturday on this house and suddenly this guy shows up in the back garden with a ski mask on and pointing his upside down 45 at me? He shouts out, "give me your wallets and no one gets hurt" yeah fuck you mate, i picked up a 2x4 and moved towards him. I was so close i could see the swirling of the riffling down the barrel. I'm thinking any minute now my guys are going to be at my back and even if he gets me he can't get us all, but no, the one time Id be grateful if they downed tools and they are still on the roof merrily working away! So this guy suddenly turns and runs for it and I give chase, but again he is gone in a second. Amazingly the cops were in the hood and six police cars came flying down the road within a minute of me calling 911. This story goes on for a while, but never did catch him. When i told a friend about it, he said, "haven't you ever played rock paper scissors? gun always cancels out 2x4!

Nice to know what those sensors are in the front, as a sparkie just picked up a nissan nv200 yesterday, noticed them and thought they were the microphones for the bluetooth, my alarm makes the same noise when it locks/open so perhaps a similair alarm as yourself. Great informative video 👊👍

Reminds me of my experience , I had a lovely T4 which I always parked nose in to a wall , for added security , but this obviously wasn't enough , the thieving scumbags, climbed through three gardens, over our fence , actually dismantled and removed the cat flap, fished around and found the door key, opened the rear access which was securely locked luckily the keys to our car were locked away so they found the VW keys came back in the house started to remove the computor , but then one of them decided to look in another room where our old dog was,, well by this time the old dog realised this was not one of the family so barked just enough to wake me and the old queen ,, so we came down to find all the lights on and the back doors open, looked out to find the van gone all my tools and an expensive mobility scooter that I was delivering to a mate next day, rang the police ,and fair play they were with us within 15 minutes ,, and they were able to tell us that their had been 3 other break ins in our area that night , , any way the police were not to bothered and gave me a crime number, waste of time as my insurance company said the cover was only £150 , I decided after getting no sense out of crime watch regards recovery of my van , I started looking for it myself , eventually after six weeks of searching I found it ,,,,,,, guess where ,,, in a little council house park just behind a police station, , it had been knocked about a bit , but the police wanted to carry out forensic checks on it because it had been used in in some illegal acts , well o/k but I had to pay £150 to get my own van back, well it just goes on and on , but then to add salt to my wounds my insurance wanted to give a derisory amount for the van as they said it was not economical for them to repair it , so I had it back and repaired it myself ,, But it was a very long time before I could go back up stairs to sleep, the scum should be put down , and until the punishment becomes a deterrent it will never stop ,

The way things are now I'd be going for a Brinks armoured van to keep the tools safe. The UK is in the grip of a crime epidemic and it only going to get worse.

Remember to think of tool safety when working too. My boss had a festool drill stolen in broad daylight when he put it down and was literally metres away from it

I was going to fit excenter locks with padlocks on the inside of my back doors and at the "bendable" sides of the sliding door., 2 on each. then i have a lockable bulk head, and my windows are all 4mm polycarbonate, secured with bolts
Can I bought had these dead locked fitted about 3 year previous .
Lost a key and bought a new lock for it .. when I took it off they hadn't painting the pmbare metal and it was all rusted .
Couldn't see them painting the metal either......... obviously nmmaybe not filmed but would hope they Did it....

When its a bit cold the lock can stop working ?? new one on me , been a Locksmith since 1987 never heard of that . often if the cylinder and deadlock are not 100% in alignment / or cheap quality locks, the cam on the lock will be of centre ... think you will find this problem , slightly slacken the cylinder screw and all should be ok. hopes this helps someone .
We all know the reason for them making the locks so shite isn't about time it's the fact they will make a killing if your van gets smashed or broken into for parts.

Secure system is good, but it cost too much time and $$$ to install Latch system and dead lock are too expensive . Cheapest solution is use two 2 x 4 with metal brackets on the ends or metal bars across the back doors . Alarm system with a camera is a must and tie to your phone apps with notice when break in.

Sorry to hear that feel for you and your pocket I know only to well the wankers have done my vans 3 times once on off my drive even with cameras up! Van makers really need to adjust there thinking on what tradesmen need from a van aswell as reliability 😡🤬

A lot of people missing the point here, no one is saying the van now can't be broken in to just that it's much harder, if 2 vans are on a street one has all this and one is factory standard which one is getting broken into first.

Had these locks fitted to my Vivaro, total waste time,still got in with a crow bar and did more damage because of the locks!!!!
Fit an alarm like the Smart360 one i've got that rings your mobile, works a treat and is loud as hell too

Take all serial numbers of your tools if the go missing they can prove there are yours if they turn up on eBay or car boot

Sorry to hear that. Like me you thought about security after the event. Best way to see it is that a van straight out of the factory is not locked in any meaningful sense. In fact it is not fit for purpose

Unreal that manufactures don't fit even the most basic stuff to stop the scum nicking out of the vans.
Because I park right next to the house, I can leave a Hive motion sensor in the van which sends me an alert if someone has a go at it...
My custom got nicked the fuckers broke into the house for the keys. Police dont care van theft is rife
Good chance the thefts are coming from the security guys themselves. They know how to break in easiest and also get the work fixing the damage.

If deadbolt is reachable with pliers you don't have much protection, they break easy with a little bit of force and than you can unlock it with screwdriver. Upper deadlock has a plastic cover but is still easy to grab, and lower deadbolt is sticking out so much that you can break it with no effort. I am commenting on this because if you do put a welded cover than it is not possible to break the deadlock with pliers. So all of this extra security is easily avoided with a plummer pliers and a screwdriver.
Just googled, look at this video, but applying force from left to right works as well easy, and you only need to be able to have a firm grip that is all.

It is very difficult to grab that lock with a pair of mole grips. It fits snugly in there.
You need the alarms as well so the thieves are constantly under pressure. As soon as the door is forced down that alarm goes off.
it's easy, I was doing this some 20 years ago, when I lost my key and had no other and decided that I will change mechanism. You do not need much, if you have 2mm sticking out it can be broken easy. You need to prevent pliers from grabbing the lock. And what ever is preventing that should be sturdy (if I have seen correctly plastic cover can't be removed by unscrewing. But it would be better if it was not plastic, since you can probably break that plastic apart easy). All in all good upgrade, I was just trying to comment that, not allowing locks to stick out would be improvement to it all. I would attach a screen shot of video but I can't, Upper lock you need to remove plastic to be able to break the lock, bottom lock is sticking out so much, that it can be broken easy.

you might fail or will need to be very strong, but leverage is doing all the work with first tool
@@tinsesnic2875 Fortunately your not quite correct. Yes, cheap euros have that failing, but if these are L4V locks, they are fairly safe against that attack.
Of course, if you want them upgraded to something special (since there are specialist picks for L4V locks now, as they get popular) you can ask a good local locksmith to sort you out with a set.
Had my van broken in to twice first time they just popped the rear handle off on my own drive went to work as normal went to get my tools whole van was empty £5000 of fes n maff, second time was doing a fit out in a petrol station in surrey again walked outside and my side door cut in half with a cordless grinder took 3 days for the police to come out to see me and all they said was heres a crime number see your insurance 3 days tools were well sold.
I live in Surrey and the police were great. They said "Oh that must be terrible for you, here is a crime number"
A few days later somebody phoned to conduct a long phone survery on my experience in the police station and then a victim support councilor also contacted me to ask if I wanted to talk about my trauma. They did everything except investigate the crime.

I am past retirement age and when I have a hard day it plays on my mind that I should be relaxing a bit more but I would have to sell my house and pull my belt in a couple of notches so, for now, I keep plodding on.
So why is nobody sueing the manufacturers for providing such piss poor security on a product they market for trade/commercial use?
What about secure fixings within the van? I know it's all about slowing them down, but could you put tools in a fixed and locked container?

Just wondering about the back doors on the hinge sides where the wireing loom passes into the doors .The were slipping a hack saw blade in between door and Piller and cutting the wireing loom the door would open and if the didn't it a bloody mess to sort out or they'll smash the window and hit the internal locking switch .anyway what can we do 👍☘️
The double lock on the doors remote renders door handles inactive. You can't open a door by smashing a window and reaching through

I did report it and they gave me a crime number and said no further investigation unless I have evidence
A few weeks ago my neighbour, a plumber, was on a job, the customer told him they could see somebody in the back of his van. He ran outside and was promptly told to get back inside by 2 brazen burley men, with accents. They said he could either go back inside and lose his kit or get his head kicked in and lose his kit.... The police didn't want to know.

The weak bodywork is and will always be the weak link. Chocolate tea pot springs to mind. Top job the guys done but doors still bend.

I think its atrocious how all the manufacturers make their vans as vulnerable as they are. I guess if they all had armor plate and armoured locks there would be an even more destructive way for them to get in.
Myself and a mate caught 2 pikies robbing the tools from my van...Best fun you could ever have with your cloths on!

I think, if you watch the video, you will see the corrosion protection on all cut and drilled surfaces. That is why you go to the professionals. They do thousands of vans and if they were rusting, especially on the coast we would see the comments.

Skill Builder ah. Makes sense. Love the Chanel. Thankfully in Wisconsin we don't have the "fold down" issue. We have people popping the plastic handles and attacking the mechanism internally.

I have heard of whole load of brand new cars taken including the lorry in day light outside a national hire car yard, a lorry was delivering the cars,, the lorry driver was threatened to hand over the keys

The deadbolts are almost useless. They used rivets on the outside to attach them to the bodywork. Dril the rivets out, pull the core and use a L-shaped piece of metal to turn the bolt. Takes about a minute. The lock shields should be metal and sandwiched using the original body metal and using screws from the inside.
Their heads are accessible from the outside (7:31). Drill the heads off and pull the lock core out.
Wow thieves giving honest advice. This guy seems to know. Must be doing it on a regular basis. Listen to the thief, he seems to know what he's talking about.

The rivets hold the lock in position for sure, but removing them when the lock is locked will not give you access. Why would this company make such an obvious error?
