  • CSEM develops printed sensors for a range of life science applications. The life sciences need customized, flexible, disposable sensors. From clinical analysis to environmental testing and food control, our low-cost sensors meet these industrial needs.
Our specialized software is used to design meshes for screen printing. They feature customized properties for functional pastes and are suited to microvolumes and point-of-care tests.
The first layer of printing deposits conductive electrodes such as graphite paste with a resolution of 50 microns. CSEM's technology allows for high-throughput production, with many sensors printed on one sheet. The meshes are then cured and prepared for the next layer of paste. A different material may be printed with the second layer to engineer reference electrodes made, for example, with silver chloride paste. The layers are aligned using a high precision camera.
CSEM offers state-of-the-art printing technologies and the additional advantage of a small lab that can develop printed electrodes.
Our sensors are versatile in size, structure and electrochemical functionality, ranging from thin-film electrodes to thick-film 3D structures. We work with partners to provide sensors perfectly suited to the task at hand.
After another thermal curing, third layer printing deposits a passivation layer made of UV-curable polymer. The dielectric polymer defines the area of the working electrode and protects the sensor.
UV light initiates polymerization. The electrodes are now ready for adaptable biofunctionalization.
CSEM's printed sensors can be used for electrochemical immunoassays, monitoring pH, glucose or nitrate sensing and in many other applications.
These sensors are designed for the parallel monitoring of metabolites in cell-culture assays
From design to fabrication, CSEM offers the complete development process for printed sensors. Our flexible sensors anticipate industry's needs.
