If I had a nickel for every time a European was poised to win a war only to lose to dogged attrition, well…
I think part of the problem was that Stone didn’t get any of the eco-based powers Isengard had (which would’ve really helped him tech up with upgrades) simply because he was already winning and didn’t technically need them. Once he began losing steam and the upgrades were needed to help him replace his losses and tank through those volleys, it was too late. Meanwhile Thena had free reign to farm points and get what he needed as soon as his fortress was back up.
