My mother was in the last stages of breast cancer, and could barely eat. She asked me to make chicken and corn chowder for her. She only managed a few mouthfuls, but you would have thought it was the grandest banquet from the joy on her face. Thank you for this lovely memory while seeing your beautiful children eating their chowder.
I got my Ana & Guin fix this morning before prepping my storm shelter for an Oklahoma tornado outbreak today. I just love those girls! They are so funny! (Well, all ya’ll are pretty funny.) Ya’ll make some pretty babies & we all so appreciate sharing them with us. They are the light of my day. 💕 💋 🤗 To the heart.

I don't think I've ever seen the twins more interested in playing with their food and less enticed to actually taste it. I always love Walt's humor, but even he couldn't inspire his girls to try a single spoonful. After hearing what a busy day they had, I think I agree with you, Alicia, that the girls were probably just plain tuckered out. I love how you both just go with the flow, not sweating the small stuff and moving right to Plan B with grilled cheese sandwiches. I hope that worked out better for the girls. I'm not sure they really liked it at all. It was fun to dip and pour though. I've never had corn chowder. It looks a lot like cream style corn though and I don't like that at all. To me, corn is supposed to be sweet and crunchy. Any other texture just ain't right in my mouth...lol. My Mom used to mix one can of cream, and one can of the whole kernel, together, in an effort to please both my brother and I. He could stand the crunch as long as it was mixed in with the creamy. Not me, the creaminess would make me want to 🤮. Anastasia was so talkative today, and very clear on pronunciation. I was impressed at how well she got her thoughts across. Guinevere just seemed chilled with not a care in the world except watching the corn slide off the spoon into the bowl. Honestly, I have had days like that where my thoughts were on something else while I stared at what I was doing. It does make me wonder what she was thinking. Some how, I don't know now, my parents and their parents raised children that did not pout, no niece or nephew pouted, no one loved on fear or abuse, I suspect it was the stoic way,passed down from !any generations . We ate what was cooked and served, with nothing else g available if we didn't like it, food came from huge gardens, beans for protein, chicken once a week. I suspect my cousins were the same. We had no fruit rightly available except Christmas, only banana for occasional banana pudding. We had plenty of wonderful meals.
Ana's pout is cute. And she looks adorable when she use that to exprime her feelings. It's part from body language. It's more than words sometimes 🥰 Her eyes are very expressive too . But after that always appear a smile or a funny " serious face". In the past children were taught not to show their feelings.
I love corn chowder, and I love chicken soup, but for some reason I don't like corn chowder with anything else mixed into it. Maybe Ana and Guin feel the same way. How sweet was Ana giving dad some of her soup - even the big chunk of chicken. When Walt said 'I know who's taking care of me when I'm old' and Ana answered him with 'yeah, dad!' . Lol later with her eye roll to momma. She has some very dramatic expressions! Then so cute when Guin dropped her milk, but decided 'Minnie milk okay'. She always exhibits such empathy. Yes, they still don’t seem to be that interested in soups, but good for you for continuing to try. Eventually they will enjoy. And Asian toddlers use those spoons all the time….they aren’t too big but they will need to get used to them. Also, they do make them in smaller size.
Loved seeing Ana speaking so much today, especially with Dada engaging her! Think they have a hard time balancing soup on spoons and getting it into their mouths. On the videos I've seen where soup is served they usually don't ever eat much of it because of difficulty and sticky hands! Maybe try putting it into one of their mugs? Can't make any more of a mess than they did here! Looks delicious though!

I’ve noticed that they prefer a broth as a base for their “soups” and if all the same ingredients had been in a clear chicken broth, I think they would have liked it more. I love creamy soups but they don’t seem to.

Well, at least they both tried it. They were having more fun playing w the spoons. Ana was eating her dipped Ritz. She had her knee up & scooping. Yes, they still don’t seem to be that interested in soups, but good for you for continuing to try. Eventually they will enjoy. And Asian toddlers use those spoons all the time….they aren’t too big but they will need to get used to them. Also, they do make them in smaller size.
Loved seeing Ana speaking so much today, especially with Dada engaging her! Think they have a hard time balancing soup on spoons and getting it into their mouths. On the videos I've seen where soup is served they usually don't ever eat much of it because of difficulty and sticky hands! Maybe try putting it into one of their mugs? Can't make any more of a mess than they did here! Looks delicious though!

I’ve noticed that they prefer a broth as a base for their “soups” and if all the same ingredients had been in a clear chicken broth, I think they would have liked it more. I love creamy soups but they don’t seem to.
I thought that too. Texture was unappealing.
