I agree. But from my experience, every good decision I have made has brought me peace in the end. Like If I make a bad decision. I am restless and can't even sleep
@tondaniraluswinga2590 honestly when I have made a wrong decision,I don't have peace about it. The peace doesn't come until the right decision is made,at least that's been my experience.
This is so good! I might add that spending time in God's presence and developing a relationship with Him involves surrendering our life to Him. If you spend time in His presence you'll have the discernment to know whether it's your flesh or the spirit. God is always speaking in our lives. There is no situation that He'll not respond too if you lay it at the altar.
Spot on! We left a church recently and it was painful. I cried for days but we knew we needed to. They were unwilling to let the enneagram go just hide it a little better. No repentance.
I’m a little conflicted or maybe I should say I don’t really understand if my thought to cut my friend off is selfish or selfless according to Jackie’s definition. I thought I was being selfish and ok with cutting her off because I can’t remember when I wasn’t drained and even yelled at during/after our telephone conversations … no matter how sweet I talked. As we get older (grandmother), foolishness becomes a welcomed distance. I just cannot. Told her in recent talks that I love her but I can’t go back there. Is this selfish or selfless?
God had actual sent me wise counsel through a trusted coworker, but i rubbed it off and ended leaving my job for another one i thought would be better. I remember thinking i felt peace about my decision, but i know now i was operating out of fear.
Jackie, I love how you drop wisdom and say, "Hopefully, that's helpful, bye!" 😂 But seriously, the fact that we might be okay with a decision because it is pleasing to ourselves, that's so true! We often choose the easiest, most painless, and self-centered decisions, and we feel justified in our selfishness. I also agree that not consulting others is a form of arrogance. We always think we know way more than we really do. We all need to humble ourselves and seek wise counsel from God and the godly men and women he has placed in our lives. I've been studying Solomon, who started out wise but ended up being destroyed because he did not consider what was pleasing to God. Choices are so important! Thank you for sharing!
I agree that you should ADD - is this pleasing to God, does this honor my neighbor, and seeking wise counsel where available. However I disagree with ignoring your emotions. God gives you alarms for a reason. If you are saved and praying on a regular basis I think you can trust those alarms. You should also heed closed vs open doors. Sometimes Satan will open a door that looks amazing but you still need to ask God to close doors that aren't for you and still need to wait and pray. Also you should know that any mistake you make while trying to seek Gods will - He will correct it. If you honestly think you should go right and thats the way God is leading you, but it turns out He wanted you to left He will find away to turn you in the right direction in a way where you will know that its Him. And normally the way that you know it's Him is PEACE not fear, torment or sleepless nights or scriptures that make no sense. Satan can quote scripture and you it to lead you in the wring direction - like he tried to do to Jesus. Im not saying everything has to be comfy and perfect for you to know its God. NO, it can be uncomfortable, difficult, hard ect but your heart should feel soild and still deep on the inside. Ask for confirmation like Gideon did. Use ALL these tools and your confidence in the decision you are making should improve drastically. And lastly step out and find out. Go on that first date, go to that interview, tour the campus ect. Trust that in those moments God will reveal whats good or whats bad. At some point you have to take action, if theres an explosion turn around.
Really interesting point here. I remember praying for resignation, I was asking God for a confirmation that it's the right thing to do. I wanted to resign because my work was consuming so much of my time that I have less and less time for God and the ministry. After 2 years of praying, I woke up with a peace in my heart and I took it as God's confirmation and that He's saying yes resign. Was it comfortable? No. I was resigning with no work awaiting for me, but within me there's peace. Am I pleasing myself? Not really because I was actually placing myself in a difficult position of losing an income. Cut the story short, I sent my resignation but my boss bargained and asked what do I want to do in life. Told him everything I want to do, and he said to me, 'Well how about we make a job in your own terms?' Fast forward, I'm still in the same job and growing. Let's not forget that peace is still a valid sign of God's confirmation but I agree that it must be accompanied with wisdom from the Lord to interpret correctly.
This is NOT RANDOM my sister! It's an important word I needed to hear. I thank God for you...this is so true..."I have peace" is NOT a safe technique to make decisions.
Thank you so much Jackie! I’ve always struggle to “feel peace” when making decisions & often have to do what seems to honor God best. I’ve felt like something was wrong with me because I didn’t have the “peace” other people had, but this illuminated the real issue. God was teaching me to not walk by emotions & to learn how to walk in wisdom. Thank you for that. ❤
This video came at just the right time, there's a decision I have to make by 7pm today and I just prayed about it. Praise God! So grateful for Pastor Perry's ministry.
The “when I stole @ JC Penny’s I had peace” took me out! I’ve heard this story from Jackie before but I still think it’s hilarious! 🤣🤣 Thank You God for transformation and honesty.🙏🏾 Man!!! 🗣️SPEAK!!!
Yes, Amen! I'm also convinced that we've made peace a feeling when the bible speaks of it as a state of being, a noun, and most importantly a fruit of the Spirit. I agree that our decisions should be made according to faith - for without faith, it is impossible to please God.
Truth!! Thank you! It's amazing how subtle wrong theology can be. I accepted the ”have peace” theology as if it was biblical . Thank you for shining the light on this.
I see how in some cases, feeling peace about something could be the same as saying it just feels good. Maybe our perceived peace is just relief because we're avoiding something God wants to use to grow us.
Too many have not been taught how to make wise decisions by seeking what God wants. Honestly our parent generation went by their emotions often and called it God.
“Hopefully that was helpful…” ARE YOU KIDDING???! This is THE content the disciples need. The quality of our life-and discipleship-boils down almost exclusively to the DECISIONS we make. Spot on, sister 🎯
Jackie always comes through with that rock-solid word that dismantles our sand castles (whatever we thought was right and working). She digs up the lies/false beliefs, exposes the root, and then gives us that good soil (alignment with the word) so we can get to planting (sowing the word into our life through action/application) and living a life blessed by God for God!
Farrrrr from a Christian but I absolutely love this message as it resonates and it’s so practical to be put into action and applied to my everyday decision making process.
I have been living in a valley of many decisions to make and this afternoon before I meditated on God's Word I prayed asking Him for guidance and to order my steps because I don't know which decisions to make and this was literally the video that popped up when I opened RUclips to play a worship song before I meditated on the Word of God. This video was an answer to my prayer, thank you and yes it helped so much! May God continue blessing your ministry and put His words upon thy lips.
You said hopefully is was helpful? HUNTY I woke up and saw this and it's EXCATLY what I needed to hear. When I say EXCATLY, I mean exactly THAT! HE most certainly did lay that on your heart for me. It's 6 am here in Berlin, Germany!!! GOD BLESS U! B.A.N.G.!!! B.A.N.G.!!! ❤❤❤
Girl, preach! This was so rich and on point. All your points were excellent. I believe you represented the mind of Christ in this post. Thank you for the reminders of good decision making; governed by the Word, in community and not in isolation. Awesome!
Thanks a lot Jackie. I found this really helpful. While I was watching, Rom 12:2 came to my mind.. I now see better why a renewed mind is important to discern the will of God. A mind that is not renewed can have 'peace' making a decision that is not the will of God.
Hi Mrs.Perry I loved the way You Teach My mind is that level sometime like I just get talks with god and talk all day about what I just read and on RUclips and god pointed me to you and you hit head on what makes me happy is that God is Real in our everyday life and your messages es are out of this world your teaching helps me at night what I like about you is that you bring everything to life or light all I can say is stay yourself you are very good person to me that moves and open door to unlocked chapters at a very good what i call bible study so be bless and and be DONT stop WE HEAR YOU!!!!
Thank you God for giving me strength to keep trust in you. . I know it’s important to trust God no matter what we are going through. Blind faith and the Love of Jesus. My husband passed years ago I miss him dearly. As a single mother things are hard on me. Both of my sons are autistic. I’m constantly struggling to provide for them and now that I’m home schooling them my hours to work are limited. I’m overwhelmed. Father God hear my prayers. My faith in you is strong! Even as I constantly struggle to pay my rent. And I constantly struggle to provide groceries for my children. Jesus I call on you for strength. I will keep faith. Walking with faith is the only thing I can do. Thank you God. Father you have provided this far and for that I’m so grateful. Faith over fear.
Hello @ChildofGod98765 , this was the scripture verse that came to mind for you after reading your comment. Matthew 9:22 KJV But Jesus turned him about, and when he saw her, He said, Daughter, be of good comfort; thy FAITH hath made thee WHOLE. And the woman was made whole from that hour. Please note: To be whole means… To restore (someone) to a sound, healthy, or otherwise favorable condition. I pray the LORD makes you and children whole as it is written in His Word in Jesus name. Amen. Be encouraged and keep the faith. 🙏🏽
I just LOVE her! This message came to me right on time. God loved me so much that he brought me back to church, reading my Bible more, just having an overall connection with him again after YEARS of not being obedient. God STILL didn’t give up on me and for that I am grateful and obedient to him! Off subject just wanted to share my testimony. ❤
This helps me so much! I thank God. I've always had an issue with this because I'd only encountered it when it was just something the other person WANTED to do. Then there have been times where the Father wanted me to do something and I had no peace whatsoever because it was new and out of my comfort zone. I would feel bad because I didn't have that "peace" people spoke of, BUT I did see God fulfill his promise🤷🏾♀️. I decided not to go off feeling but the Word and be confident in His Word and not me.
Our feelings should NOT be the discerning factor in anything we do - that always comes back to our sin. We have to use our minds, which God gave us to use to decipher His word, and to talk to wise elders. And you're so right, we should seek to glorify God in everything we do.
This reminds me of that old saying: only God knows. Clearly, God wants us to know, too. Thanks for simplifying how we can determine how He tells us what He wants us to know.
4:42 I love that you said that we don’t necessarily have to follow the counsel of another, but the counsel should be considered and it can clarify our decisions. I had a situation a few years ago, considering retirement. It was unclear to me if God was leading me to retire or if I was just being whiney about my life. God delivered a godly friend who I consulted with and he gave me his thoughts. I did the opposite because his thoughts gave me clarity. My decision to retire was absolutely what God was leading me to do, and it opened up new opportunities to serve.
This was soooo good! Thank you so much. You know Mormons are asked to pray and have peace in their bosom. Our whole society has gone crazy being led by feelings and emotions. It’s time to grow all the way up, and move away from “trusting our hearts “ like we some childish Disney princess.
Look…I did not have peace about buying a house for my family 7 years ago…BUT…I considered other factors, like it was the perfect size for my 6 person family, the payments were still beneath my means, and a very wise investment. I sought God in prayer and trusted that, no matter how I may have felt, it was what was best for my family. It wasn’t about me, I prayed, I sought counsel, and it was something I pressed forward with. I am glad I did!
Also, Listen for the Holy Spirit that to me is the absolute perfect advisor. Everytime I didnt and I tried to reason by my own logic it wasnt the right choice. Something could be morally right or even pleasing to God or even with a right heart posture but still outside of His will for whatever the reason. God knows ALL things therefore it is so important to follow His guide. Jackie this is a really great topic and descernment in decision making is so important in this walk. It is key to the direction our lives take and also others that are connected to us. Blessings to you in Jesus name. 🙏🏽💝
Years ago I sought counsel about joining the military after had already finished two college degrees. I kept asking people I knew who were believers and veterans what they thought about that decision. They all said no. Years later, the Lord reminded me of a prophecy. Someone spoke to me when I was a teenager, that Christians would tell me not to do something but I needed to follow God. It was then,!I realized I missed the Lord and I missed a call and God had on my life. I also missed my heritage because I have a very strong military heritage in my family. I don’t have many regrets in life, but I regret not joining the military when I was single and childless. Considering counsel isn’t always the same as listening and following them. During that time, I never took what they said into my prayer closet and asking God what he thought.
3But when the people of Gibeon heard what Joshua had done to Jericho and Ai, 4they resorted to deception to save themselves. They sent ambassadors to Joshua, loading their donkeys with weathered saddlebags and old, patched wineskins. 5They put on worn-out, patched sandals and ragged clothes. And the bread they took with them was dry and moldy. 6When they arrived at the camp of Israel at Gilgal, they told Joshua and the men of Israel, “We have come from a distant land to ask you to make a peace treaty with us.” 7The Israelites replied to these Hivites, “How do we know you don’t live nearby? For if you do, we cannot make a treaty with you.” 8They replied, “We are your servants.” “But who are you?” Joshua demanded. “Where do you come from?” 9They answered, “Your servants have come from a very distant country. We have heard of the might of the LORD your God and of all he did in Egypt. 10We have also heard what he did to the two Amorite kings east of the Jordan River-King Sihon of Heshbon and King Og of Bashan (who lived in Ashtaroth). 11So our elders and all our people instructed us, ‘Take supplies for a long journey. Go meet with the people of Israel and tell them, “We are your servants; please make a treaty with us.”’ 12“This bread was hot from the ovens when we left our homes. But now, as you can see, it is dry and moldy. 13These wineskins were new when we filled them, but now they are old and split open. And our clothing and sandals are worn out from our very long journey.” 14So the Israelites examined their food, but they did not consult the LORD. 15Then Joshua made a peace treaty with them and guaranteed their safety, and the leaders of the community ratified their agreement with a binding oath. 16Three days after making the treaty, they learned that these people actually lived nearby! 17The Israelites set out at once to investigate and reached their towns in three days. The names of these towns were Gibeon, Kephirah, Beeroth, and Kiriath-jearim. 18But the Israelites did not attack the towns, for the Israelite leaders had made a vow to them in the name of the LORD, the God of Israel. The people of Israel grumbled against their leaders because of the treaty. 19But the leaders replied, “Since we have sworn an oath in the presence of the LORD, the God of Israel, we cannot touch them. 20This is what we must do. We must let them live, for divine anger would come upon us if we broke our oath. 21Let them live.” So they made them woodcutters and water carriers for the entire community, as the Israelite leaders directed. 22Joshua called together the Gibeonites and said, “Why did you lie to us? Why did you say that you live in a distant land when you live right here among us? 23May you be cursed! From now on you will always be servants who cut wood and carry water for the house of my God.” 24They replied, “We did it because we-your servants-were clearly told that the LORD your God commanded his servant Moses to give you this entire land and to destroy all the people living in it. So we feared greatly for our lives because of you. That is why we have done this. 25Now we are at your mercy-do to us whatever you think is right.” 26So Joshua did not allow the people of Israel to kill them. 27But that day he made the Gibeonites the woodcutters and water carriers for the community of Israel and for the altar of the LORD-wherever the LORD would choose to build it. And that is what they do to this day. JOSHUA 9: 3-27NLT
Ugh! I've been using the word "at peace" for the past week about a decision at my job. The Lord will call you out oh so subtle. Thank you Jesus for using your people to speak to us. Now I pray for mercy and grace over the decison that I made. Lesson learned!
Such a good word and so needed in my current state. Thank You God for placing Your truth upon the lips of those who are willing, committed, and called to serve. Glory be unto Your Name!
I was one to use peace also as a benchmark, how crazy we never question where something comes from. But I think it comes from galatians 5v23. But we just pick out peace only, as we do, we pick and choose. Gal 5v19 is also a good benchmark to use.Emotions can't be trusted definitely.
Wow. 💜 Having peace about something is not a determining factor of discernment. Nor is it the thing to rely on when making decisions. What is the Holier Choice? Am I being selfless or selfish? What is the choice that honors God? What is the choice that honors my neighbor?
This is right up there with thinking that what is from God will come easy. I hate when people say it, because I dont know anyone in the Bible who had it easy when making the next move. Some things are indeed difficult and not externally peaceful.
This was good to me. There have been many times in my life where my decision that I believed I had peace about really was self centered. Many times the Lords decisions regarding my direction is opposite of my personal feelings. I still have to obey. Thank you for sharing Jackie
This might have been random for you Jacky but for me it was right on time!! Thanks so much for sharing. This topic you're talking about is an answered prayer.May God continue to increase in you.❤
I saw this video pop up in my RUclips recommended list a couple of days ago and I have been ACTIVELY avoiding it. Probably because I wasn't ready to listen, but gratefully, I am today. I hear you that you didn't want to turn this post into a mini workshop, but so many of us are glad that you did :) Thank you Jackie
we can ask all the right questions but are we spiritually positioned to receive direction? That’s why Prov 3:5-6 is so paramount. There’s your 3 step process right there and PEACE is a byproduct of God’s direction. I’ve always used it as a stamp of approval that I’m on the right path and sometimes the peace is on the side that I personally would not have chosen for myself, but I can’t deny where God is leading me.
Loved when you said, “Sometimes we have peace about a decision because the decisions are self-centered” 🙏🏾 hard truth
I agree. But from my experience, every good decision I have made has brought me peace in the end. Like If I make a bad decision. I am restless and can't even sleep
@@tondaniraluswinga2590yes, I agree with this explanation of it!
@tondaniraluswinga2590 honestly when I have made a wrong decision,I don't have peace about it. The peace doesn't come until the right decision is made,at least that's been my experience.
Yeah, that hit hard! 😰
BIG FACTS!!!
OUCH, OUCH, OUCH! Just used the "peace" line yesterday. Prayed about this subject this morning! Wow...thank you!
LOL & I just used it last night! God is good!! I’m thankful for this teaching.
This is so good! I might add that spending time in God's presence and developing a relationship with Him involves surrendering our life to Him. If you spend time in His presence you'll have the discernment to know whether it's your flesh or the spirit. God is always speaking in our lives. Thank u for saying this. I needed this comment.
And you will have peace from God...as the Word says, He will give us peace not as the world gives....
Something that my pastor said is “Will God be comfortable there?” Changed my like in 5 words!
“Is it a selfish decision, or a selfless decision?” AMEN 🙏🏾
I’m a little conflicted or maybe I should say I don’t really understand if my thought to cut my friend off is selfish or selfless according to Jackie’s definition. The amount of awesomeness in these 5:42 is mind boggling 🤯🙏🏾✨ Thank you God for giving us Jackie Hill Perry ✨
God had actual sent me wise counsel through a trusted coworker, but i rubbed it off and ended leaving my job for another one i thought would be better. I remember thinking i felt peace about my decision, but i know now i was operating out of fear.

Literally my story stumbling across this. Prayer answered IMMEDIATELY!
"We shouldn't make all of our decisions in isolation." Seek wise counsel!!

"The wise counsel" is the message....for me. Thank you God for sending this word from Jackie to reassure me
Biblical frameworks that are more developed, more mature...Love this!

These are great principles to apply. Scripture also says, seek peace and pursue it. In all decisions there must be a Godly Peace!
That’s talking directly about turning from evil and becoming a peace maker

This helps me so much! I thank God. I've always had an issue with this because I'd only encountered it when it was just something the other person WANTED to do. Then there have been times where the Father wanted me to do something and I had no peace whatsoever because it was new and out of my comfort zone. I would feel bad because I didn't have that "peace" people spoke of, BUT I did see God fulfill his promise🤷🏾♀️. I decided not to go off feeling but the Word and be confident in His Word and not me.
Jackie, thank you for once again dismantling false teaching and filling us instead with the word of God. I wish every Christian could see this 🙏🏿
Our feelings should NOT be the discerning factor in anything we do - that always comes back to our sin. We have to use our minds, which God gave us to use to decipher His word, and to talk to wise elders. And you're so right, we should seek to glorify God in everything we do.
No matter how much the devil throws. I just can't let the devil have authority of my life.😇🙌💜
This reminds me of that old saying: only God knows.
I’m so glad I came across this message. Thank you for allowing God to use you. 🙏🏽
6When they arrived at the camp of Israel at Gilgal, they told Joshua and the men of Israel, “We have come from a distant land to ask you to make a peace treaty with us.”
7The Israelites replied to these Hivites, “How do we know you don’t live nearby? For if you do, we cannot make a treaty with you.”
8They replied, “We are your servants.”
“But who are you?” Joshua demanded. “Where do you come from?”
9They answered, “Your servants have come from a very distant country. Go meet with the people of Israel and tell them, “We are your servants; please make a treaty with us.”’
12“This bread was hot from the ovens when we left our homes. But now, as you can see, it is dry and moldy. 13These wineskins were new when we filled them, but now they are old and split open. And our clothing and sandals are worn out from our very long journey.”
14So the Israelites examined their food, but they did not consult the LORD.
From now on you will always be servants who cut wood and carry water for the house of my God.”
24They replied, “We did it because we-your servants-were clearly told that the LORD your God commanded his servant Moses to give you this entire land and to destroy all the people living in it. So we feared greatly for our lives because of you. That is why we have done this. 25Now we are at your mercy-do to us whatever you think is right.”
26So Joshua did not allow the people of Israel to kill them.
Amen!
Wow. 💜
Having peace about something is not a determining factor of discernment.
This is an answered prayer, praise You Lord!
This is spot on timely for me!!Thankyou HolySpirit of God!
This was good to me. There have been many times in my life where my decision that I believed I had peace about really was self centered. Many times the Lords decisions regarding my direction is opposite of my personal feelings. I still have to obey. Thank you for sharing Jackie
I approve this message, always telling young adult this message. It is better to obey then to use your feelings. Especially in worship

That message came at the right time. I needed that in the season I am.
This was soooo for me! Thank you❤
Amen, Amen❤❤❤Is it pleasing to the Lord 🙏🏾 Thank you Jesus for Your Word❤
