Few things I love about a 50. No recoil, super cheap to shoot & easy to find ammo, no need for ear pro, and an easy light weight platform to carry around in the woods all day. 😀

I got kind of emotional when the video came out, my wife made fun of me and i said... I feel like i got taken along for the ride in the development of--if nothing else--a very cool piece of history. I watched from the beginning, i missed few if not no ak50 update video... I feel like i was a part of it to some degree.
I think the spring on the Barrett is so large because it's a long recoil action. The spring has to stop and cycle the barrel and bolt. The AK 50 is gas operated and has less cycling mass, so the spring can be smaller.
The Barrett is short recoil but your intuition is correct. You have much more control over how much energy is put into cycling the action in a gas-operated gun.
The AK-50 has better recoil control because of the way its action works but it’s very heavy. The Barret was made to be a .50 cal that was feasible to carry with you in the field. So the recoil will be more harsh but it is a more simple action, easier to clean and more lightweight. AK-50 is still incredible from a fixed position. And the recoil control would make it better at destroying light vehicles like trucks and enemies behind cover just because the recoil is less harsh. Biggest problem for the AK-50 is probably barrel flexing though for accuracy.
I have to say, I am very proud of Brandon for sticking with it and ending up with an incredible product. Everything about the ak-50 just feels so much cooler than any other .50 cal out there.

Two very different guns. The Barrett is recoil operated and the recoil spring needs to handle the bolt moving under the full force of recoil. In the AK or any other gas-operated gun, the gas system only needs to harvest enough energy to operate the action so you don't need a beefy recoil spring (which is really kind of a misnomer in that case).
@@KyussTheWalkingWorm Not just the bolt; the entire barrel of the Barret recoils back before the bolt opens, so the spring has to dampen that as well. To anyone who has not held an M82A1: They weigh about 18lbs and most of that weight is the barrel itself.
I dont think so. The Barret coil spring isn't that bigger than the AK50. It just has a bigger spiral diameter. But the size of the steel material pretty small compare to the AK50 🤷
Anyone who knows how to disassemble and assemble AK can do it. I've seen a little differences from old AK in the disassembling, like extraction of the spring. Brandon do a fine thing scaling up the AK without major changes of construction.

Yep, just like almost all AK's. AK's flex fore, aft, and in the middle. You can see this in many very slo mo videos of regular AK's. They are much like a helicopter in that they are an assemblage of highly machined parts flying in very close formation.

Yep, just like almost all AK's. AK's flex fore, aft, and in the middle. You can see this in many very slo mo videos of regular AK's. They are much like a helicopter in that they are an assemblage of highly machined parts flying in very close formation.
