Thanks for this, John! it can be difficult working out exactly what makes these modules different from one another, even if you read the blurb! It was good to hear them in action! I guess the story with all of these is "chuck a load of modulation at them and make them sing!" (just like the lovely BIA does!)
I suspect the reason for the square wave icon under Grit is because saturation and some distortion techniques tend to square off round shapes, introducing higher harmonics
If you are after an idea a comparison of kick drums would be cool. Seems like there have been quite a few similar ones released recently (Patching Panda Blast, Shakmat Battering Ram, Planktronics DassBrum) as well as classics such as Ultrakick, Maelstrom Mandrake.
Several years ago Noise Engineering was a favorite brand, over time their prices have creeped up so high I can’t justify using this stuff unless I can get it off Reverb at a proper price. I wish the would simply take about $100 bucks off the top and id be pretty dedicated. But yeah, I love your videos. They just cut right to.-“What does it do” - “how does it sound”. No long sales pitch, to the point, you’re the first place I go looking for demos. And I love those Giallo gloves man!
Thanks! A lot of eurorack has gotten pricey, but one major selling point for me on Noise Engineering stuff these days is the swappable firmware. You buy one piece of hardware, and it can become a whole bunch of different things depending on your need. Really like that. And of course the sound is awesome as well, they build a lot more character into a small space than most.

They are a way better bargain now with swappable firmware, I sold all my old NE oscillators and now have them all on a single alia module. Not at the same time of course but each one is so powerful you just need 1 ( max 2 ) at a time. And it's only a 20% price increase compared to old version. I think it worth it. Eurorack is crazy expensive I agree but second hand market is doing very well too. Got the 3 swappable modules and it's now 26 modules and 8*8*10 = 640 modules combinations. Not bad considering we're getting new ones every couple months
That’s a great point, I forget that about them, I’m not going to be grabbing their stuff new though but what ya said will have me scanning reverb more for them. Keep up the good work! Your videos have been deal breakers/makers on almost every oscillator and filter etc I have. No shill shit from you,, you just wring them out, take them through every extreme, such an essential channel man⚡️💙⚡️
@@JohnSchussler iPhones have focus lock. Instead of a quick touch to choose your focus point, try pressing and holding (about 2 secs) where you want to focus. iPhones call it "AE/AF LOCK." This way, the camera wont try to refocus every time your glove passes in front of the lens.
@nomdeplore7604 That, plus they spent so much on eurorack modules, they're forced to use single use bulk gloves. One cannot expect somebody working in a visual medium to use something reusable and esthetically pleasing.
Please stop with this ridiculous trend of repeating the same inane comments that contribute nothing. Why does it really matter if he is wearing gloves. It is all about the music!

Man, the Debel Iteritas Alia sounds killer! 🔥

Interesting theory. Makes sense.

does your camera have a function called "focus lock"
It's an iPhone. So, not that I know of.

So which one would you say is the more percussive/ drums module
Could we do a fundraise to get you some nice velvet gloves or something? The disposable ones look a bit tawdry.
Why are you wearing gloves?
Why you wear gloves? I see dust on the mods. 😒
Please stop this ridiculous black rubber glove trend.
Some people have hand tattoos and don’t want to be seen.

@@mwmacp but they don’t like it and must make it known
