Hey y'all! If you experience some pixelation during this video MY SINCEREST APOLOGY! I've tried to import and upload this so many times and nothing I've found has been able to keep it from doing that! I spent so much work and time editing this video that I wanted to share it regardless, but once again I am so sorry for the loss in quality in some parts!
The quality of the video is good, even if there might be some places where it is dark because there is not much light when you are recording. Have you met Travelling with Tee? It is another flight attendant based in Charlotte and have a youtube channel ruclips.net/channel/UCX7tURN8tljA9UtFCgO53iw
You think you uploaded a video about commuting, but you actually uploaded a great video on how to roll with the punches. You attitude is always so fantastic! Btw, I leave for training in 3 days.
Thanks for sharing the not so glamorous part of FA life....too often RUclipsrs only film the fun, shopping, dining etc.; appreciate you keeping it real....like all jobs!
I will always try to be as honest as possible! The shopping and dining is a great perk, but there are other things like delays and reassignments that are absolutely not fun!
I disagree with you. I’ve done a LOT of research to this job because I am a stewardess trainee myself and people are generally so negative about it, which annoys me a lot
I’m a FA for a major airline and although the perks of the job are AMAZING they are not actually free. Flight attendants put with their heart soul mind and blood into their jobs, so seeing the world and having free tickets is not free. Nothing in life is free and the “glamour” fades very quickly Flying is not for the weak
I love that no matter how bleak things can get u always smile and find something positive to say. U really never complain even when the airline leaves u somewhere.
Oh my gosh I remember commuting for my first year of flying 😅 complete nightmare. HAHA I’m glad I’m not the only person who turns up the temp in the room!
Jesus girl, I’m tired watching that. I don’t know how you commute, that seems so exhausting. I hope you can transfer to Dallas soon. I now need a nap lol.
Amber Wish: If just listening to this makes you tired how are you ever going to become a flight attendant? …..Which I suppose is the reason you are here watching her. This is the reality for all flight attendants for many years depending in what airline they work for.
@@KatNesbitt : I just hope AA pays you good money.....you are hard working and give a lot for this much desired job by thousands of pretty boys and girls!!
genten777 Um no, I don’t want to be a flight attendant thank you. I have a career. I watch her because I like her. So you are incorrect. Please don’t comment on my comments when you don’t know what you’re talking about. Not every subscriber she has wants to be a flight attendant.
I spent 15 hrs @ CLT waiting for my flight and started to feel like Tom Hanks in The Terminal. I knew where you were at all times... a lot of roaming is possible in 15 hrs. Oddly, I felt a little nostalgic toward CLT during your vid.
A lot of similarities with working the extra list on the railroad; Dealing with crewcallers, figuring out deadhead and hours of service; what you can or cannot work; when you're rested; sleeping in crew rooms, etc. Except I'm home at the end of every assignment; I don't know how you guys do it constantly in a different city each night let alone a different time zone. The side of transportation the general public doesn't see. Hats off to you!
Kat, thank you so much for this video and others you have done. You have more than a passing resemblance to an ex who spent years trying to be an FA before she joined the Air Force. Listening to you vlog is like being in the room with her again. I miss the good times I had with her but what happened at the end is irrepairable. So, you remind me of the good times. Thanks again.
this is the first video I've seen of yours very nice I've been watching Stella and she makes it seem like it's a piece of cake I think you are really more realistic about it I don't know how you guys do it it's so tiring just to take one trip somewhere and to do it every day would be totally exhausting kudos to you guys
Oh man, I was grounds crew for my airline and even the "not knowing" of when you got off depending on the plane landing use to mess with me. My anxiety wouldn't let me be a flight attendant, my hats off to y'all.
The shhhweeeew noise you made as you threw your jacket on the bed made my crack up. Subbed just for that. Very entertaining and informative. I don’t think I’d ever be able to handle a schedule like that though my work as a musician can be kind of all over at times as well. Thankfully mine involves driving and less flying lol.
My dad is a retired TWA Capt. He lives in a small town just east of Kansas City. From the early eighties thru 2001 (when he retired) he commuted from home to St. Louis (KSTL) where he was based. Three and a half hour drive each way.
Bless you for putting up with that. I wouldn’t be able to do that! You deserve credit for that! I have deep respect for all of you. Stay safe and healthy!
Those are big plastic frame glasses. Do you like the larger size, they seem kind of big for your face but they let you have a wider field of vision. Narrower frames you can see over and under the frames when wearing them. Such as ones 35 mm tall. But 45 mm tall or more gives you more viewing area vertically and possibly horizontally if they are wider.
Sometimes it's cheap, beautiful vacations around the world and sometimes it's crazy schedules and spending holidays and birthdays alone. Pros and cons of this exciting mess of a job!
Wow! Commuting is hard! Thanks for showing us what it’s like so we can make better choices 😂 (btw, I’m waiting for my training dates with your airline.. super excited!)
thecockerel: You are right but most people think that flight attendants have a dream job that thousands of pretty boys and girls want badly!! Most people think that flight attendants are very lucky...they stay in the best of hotels , vacation for free in high end resorts, fly for free. It is considered a dream job and therefore that gives rise to envy in people which equals to not treating them with utmost respect on board!!
Just saw this one. Never knew what flight attendants go threw, I like how you stay positive even when overtired. U were in my back yard i am close to Springfield (BDL). Enjoyed this video Kat 👍.
Two comments.............firstly, I personally prefer your hair this colour for your face looks "fresh" with or without makeup. Secondly, I think you are just so refreshing to watch and listen to. It is a shame that we live in different countries for I would love to meet you and your husband.........maybe one day our paths might cross. Take Care and God Bless you and yours.
I feel like this is a PSA for travelers to give their flight crew a little understanding if they aren't 100% on their game. Because by the time you got on my ONE flight I'm taking you are three days past being over life in general. This is good insight for us, enjoyed the video. I wonder about the hotels though... do you have buddies in big airport towns that you can crash with, or is it always just easier to stay in the hotels? Seems like you could use some friend_time in the middle of longer runs.
X-wife was a flight attendant back in late sixties on TWA out of New York to Europe. She told me about layovers and how several ladies would share an apartment in NYC .
I use to work at the local Airport as a Security Officer and all Flight Attendants had to sleep in our staff room (which was not the most comfortable) or on the plane because someone complained about sharing a room and that ended that!...I did not envy them one bit...Proof that a bad apple can spoil the bunch!
Ah, commuting...I once lived in LA and commuted to NY (yes, seriously) and then lived in LA and commuted to SFO-I (back when AA had separate divisions for international and domestic flight attendants aka 2003). Love your vids!
All flight attendants deserve respect! I never realised what you all go through, but now I tend to take sweets as a gift for the team. Thank you for sharing your experiences.
My husband is a pilot so I've heard about these things. It was nice to actually "see" it. I was able to follow your commentary, which is shocking to me. My husband doesn't think I listen, but, apparently, I do. LOL He is "based" in Chicago, but commutes from LaGuardia. His commute is rough. Because of the weather, he usually has to leave the night before when he's flying the next morning. I really enjoyed your video and have subscribed. :)
Kat Nesbitt: Excellent presentation! I worked as an Airline Flight Attendant for over 18 years. During the last 7+ years, I was also a "commuter". Living in Florida, I usually flew out of Tampa in order to get to my crew base airport CVG. Then, when our crew base at CVG closed, I was based in STL. Then, GRR for 2 years. Then, CLE. Sometimes I had to take 3-4 different flights in order to arrive into my crew base airport! Not easy!
With the way my work/life is going right now, I wish I was a commuting FA so I could have just 5 flipping minutes to myself!! I hope your transfer gets approved soon so you don’t have to keep doing this.
So happy to see you posted a vlog! Commuting sounds like a nightmare 😑 hopefully you’re able to have a change of base in the new year! Wishing you and your husband all the best for 2020!
Lol when you showed the clip at Bradley in Connecticut, I knew it was Bradley right away because every time I see the “Lindsey Limousine” sign when you’re going down the elevator, I point it out!
Amazing vlog. I plan on watching more. That hotel in BWI was gorgeous. I know you can't disclose the name, but it was really great. Those wings looked good too.
After watching this...I am going to pray as hard as I can so that you get transferred to Dallas SOON... And with all the moving and going...you still managed to keep smiling, that was inspiring!!
If I wasn't smiling and laughing, I would be crying. You can't choose your situation all the time but you can choose how you react to it. I am just lucky to have a good support system who helps me when times get tough.
thank you guys for all that you do for us passengers . have a story about two wonderful flight attendants. During this flight to Rome it was me , my caregiver wadad and my good friend Tala. So due to my health condition I require a port to receive IV medications. I do not know how to this day but the needle in my port came out when I started complaining about discomfort in my port Tala was like let me take a look and see if we need to get Wadad or not. so she got her mask and her gloves on to protect me and once she took a look she was like yeah we need Wadad in my mind I was like oh no. This whole thing with my port took place during a Night Flight. nurse / caregiver told me we have to put a new one in that I couldn't go the whole flight without my IV meds she said I know your scared but you need your iv and she told me we'll get through it Tala gave me some support and she said you got this you may not like it but just think how much it's going to help you and how it's going to keep you healthy.. .Two flight attendants that I got close to Kathy and Mary came to check and see if we needed anyting I became good friends with them on our long flight and my nurse/ caregiver was getting the new needle and supplies out of her bag Mary saw the look on my face when my caregiver got the needle out and she asked what was going on and if I was okay and I told her that my caregiver has to put in the new iv and getting one put in isn't fun at all and it really scares me so Mary asked me if I wanted her and Kathy to be by me for support since they didn't need to do anything at that time since Mary was the Purser or cabin manager. I said yes please then Mary said well why don't we go back to the resting area so you can have an actual bed to lay on when she does everything. the reason why they offered was because turns out they both used to work in a hospital as nursing assistants so they were pretty much used to it so Mary told the rest of the crew that there's going to be a medical procedure going on and that we will need to borrow one of the beds on the plane since I'm getting a new iv put in. Before we all went back I asked Tala if she could go with us since she is like a sister and she's been there for plenty of IV pokes in the past . she told me that she has to stay back and watch our things but I'll be in good hands with Wadad, Mary, and kathy. Before i went back Tala told me that i got this and gave me a quick big hug. While my nurse and Kathy were getting my things and taking them back to the rest area Mary took me back and got a nice bed set up for me to lay on they came in with everything including my portable oxygen and all of my IV stuff. Kathy got an empty cart and we put a towel over it so that way my nurse wadad could have a good workplace. Mary and Kathy we're given masks and gloves by my nurse just to be more sterile and clean and to protect me from infection. a couple of the crew members were wondering what was going on since they saw two flight attendants putting on masks and gloves. They knew that they both used to work in a hospital and they let the crew know that they were helping out with a procedure. When it was time to clean and poke Kathy and Mary stayed right by me Kathy was the one that handed my caregiver the things she needed and Mary was the main person that was my support when my caregiver was about to do the poke Mary gave me her hand to hold and right before my caregiver was about to poke Mary told me when she was going to do it and to give me the heads up when my caregiver was about to poke Mary said that she is going to count and after she said three she said she was going to say squeeze and that was my cue to squeeze her hand my caregiver poked and was getting the needle in Kathy and Mary were both telling me that I'm doing really good and that we're almost done. My nurse was singing songs to me in Arabic while she was doing it. while I was holding Mary's hand Kathy told me to just keep breathing. since. my nurse was putting on the tape and Flushing it and getting me all hooked up it was getting a little hard to breathe after all of that so Mary and Kathy help me get my oxygen on and going since I mainly use my oxygen at night or when I need it during the day. After all that they let me lay there and rest for a little bit and they got me a nice blanket to keep me warm After we got me all set up and after they got my oxygen turned on my Nurse, Kathy, and Mary all told me that I did real good
I was really debating to switch bases and commute to get to fly long haul next winter, but this made me realize it might not be the best idea especially when it comes to home standby and I only get an hour to get there (250km lol)
Hi Kat ! I love your videos. You are so good at them. Youve helped me so much ! Ive been pursuing my dream job for some time now. But I finally have a F2F with my dream airline, AA , on 01/07/20 ! Ive watched all your vids about interviewing so I feel ready. Im so excited and grateful for the opportunity. If you have any tips for me besides all youve shared already, please feel free. Thank you Kat. Rob
Hey I truly enjoyed this video. Kudos to you for working with a bad leg and being in good spirits. P.S.- I never heard your Southern accent in previous videos but it is nice :-)
I felt this video on a deep spiritual level, I work for a regional owned by your company and I’m based in CLT, so I have to commute too. And let me tell ya, y’alls recliners are waaaayyyyyy nicer than ours 😂
Girl...I have not been getting your video notifications. 😱 Great video 👏🏼👍👏🏼 Hoping you and your hubby have a Blessed, prosperous and a Happy New Year!!
I know this is one of your older videos but I've been watching you for so long dude no I haven't I've been watching you for about a month and I've already finished all your videos about twice The first week I started watching you I've been I've been I was been watching you wasn't even coming outside like it's sort of weird cuz like ever since I went on the airplane from Atlanta to where I am right now they were like now I'm obsessed with wanting to be a business owner or a flight attendant or both at once so I'm I'm very happy about your videos keep posting
Kat Nesbitt I get so sick 🤢 on planes, I’d be terrible haha. I always think you guys do an amazing job and always smile ... even when you probably don’t want to at times.
Seems like a lonely and boring life when you are up late and early as well. Do you ever watch movies or read on your device with all that down time? Happy New Year!
Wow. That’s insane. I have a friend who is a pilot. He lives in My town in NJ and he was based out of LAX. That’s gotta be the worst commute. All the way across the country
flyewr1907 chileeeee that’s nothing I’m crew in UK and I commute to Caribbean. There are loads of us who live all over the globe but based out of London
Hey Kat!! What is your favorite carry on luggage suitcase? Do you have a favorite "personal item" bag that has the trolley sleeve so it can sit on top of your carry on suitcase? I love your videos!
Before we landed Mary told everyone over her little microphone that it was my 18th birthday today and my caregiver who is making it possible for me to go to Rome like I've always been wanting to. She didn't go into all of what went on during The Ivy poke but she basically said that I fight many battles everyday and that I've got good perseverance and as a little reward for getting through all of that she took me up to the cockpit to meet the pilot. Well I was meeting the pilot a couple of passengers went up to my friend and my caregiver and said things like you guys are wonderful people and my caregiver said he's the one I take care of and that's what you do for someone that's got it an illness like mine. And my friend said then I'm like her older brother that she never had and she would do anything as long as it's going to help me. When I came back to my seat this Italian lady came up to me embraced me and said Dio ti benedica e ti tenga which means God bless you and keep you. A couple of other passengers wish me happy birthday and hope that I'll have fun in Rome I'll never forget the way Tala woke me up she woke me up all nice and calm like saying my birthday wish came true and then I said what are you talking about and then she said in a really excited way her and my nurse both did they both shouted WE'RE IN ROME!!! They got the okay to do it from the flight attendants and a couple of the passengers since they knew how happy it was going to make me. That was before Mary gave me my caregiver and Tala recognition that was before I went up to the cockpit
Why do airlines not fly to the same destination for example one airline flys international and others don’t I know Maine line and regional are different but is their a definite answer

After all that they let me lay there and rest for a little bit and they got me a nice blanket to keep me warm After we got me all set up and after they got my oxygen turned on my Nurse, Kathy, and Mary all told me that I did real good
This is so much. Could never do, live out of a suitcase. Props to you girl
Im friggin exhausted just watching that #reallife. Thankyou for not glamorising being a FA. Heres to a relocation soon 🍷
Cheers to that! And I'll always try to keep it as real as possible!
I was really debating to switch bases and commute to get to fly long haul next winter, but this made me realize it might not be the best idea especially when it comes to home standby and I only get an hour to get there (250km lol)
That's a lot of work just getting to and from work! Whew. ✈
This was a whole different take than I’ve ever seen on commuting. Thanks for keeping it real...and hope you got some rest!

When you had this trip, you were 2 hours southeast of where I live
Hey I truly enjoyed this video. Kudos to you for working with a bad leg and being in good spirits. P.S.- I never heard your Southern accent in previous videos but it is nice :-)

why did you fly to DFW then back to CLT for standby?
why not just go to CLT and get a hotel or AirBNB?
Bollywood Media ~ those costs add up very quickly
The schedule literally gives me anxiety😳.. props to you 😊
Angela Muñoz, I feel the same way! I would have had a total meltdown. And gotten fired. LOL
I just got way too excited to see you were in MA. Even though Springfield is so far from me 🤣

It's a great job overall! And Happy New Year to you as well!
Those wings look good! I cheat on keto to. It’s boring after awhile!
BDL! My home airport 😊✈ Happy New Year and I hope there's a transfer to DFW soon!
Happy New Year Kat!🥳 Appreciate your hard work! Hope you get a transfer soon and I can relate to workout injury.😬
@@victoriasimpson8792 wait, what,
Ahh, I live in Westfield, Ma which is like 15 minutes from Springfield. I would have love to meet you!
Kat that’s plain crazy! All that would make me plain crazy! I feel bad for you!
Why do airlines not fly to the same destination for example one airline flys international and others don’t I know Maine line and regional are different but is their a definite answer
Hi Kat! I'm watching old videos!
Wow! Simply respect! This is a hard job 👏🏻
Keep it up ! Just found this channel and look forward to more content!!
Springfield MA...looks like the Sheraton!
