I made my Ride 17's my everyday walking shoes as well. I didn't love them for running as much as my other shoes but for every day walkability and comfort they're so good!
Full retail prices are not always the best guide. Puma Magnify Nitro 2 has a full stack of nitro foam (unlike the velocity nitro) and can be had for prices of less than 100 us dollars / 80 UK £ if you look around. For that price you will have a shoe that will be a great trainer option that will get to 500 miles / 800 km. Can't really see that being beaten on the basis of cost per mile / km (with quality ride and materials) which should be the real measure of value imo.
The Puma magnify 2 has to be the most underrated shoe. I prefer the ride to the velocity and I use them for easy and long runs. Over 400 mile, some wear to the amazing grip but still going strong.
I have to go on retail price for this type of video, mainly so it’s a level playing field and a proper baseline… but I do agree, and did even mention when talking about the velocity that puma often have great discounts on… the magnify nitro original was a great shoe, I loved it! Might have to try the 2 if I can get a good discount!
The best daily trainers I’ve tested and ran in them so far are the SL2, Novablast 4, Mach 6, & VN3. I have mixed feelings about Cloudmonster 2 & hyper because of the price. I didn’t love Rebel V4 as much as the 3.
Jumping in right away to say the Brooks Hyperion 2 - I got the GTS version for $115 when I was over in the states and it has really impressed me, can do everything you throw at it!
@@TheFODRunner with your love of the Hyperion Max I think it's a must! Same stack height, marginally narrower in the midfoot (why I appreciate the GTS version, it also has more rubber on the outsole I noticed for added stability), foam is a bit softer out the box, and the heel/ midfoot transitions are much smoother (I found the max pitched me into the midfoot very abruptly). Aside from the Elite I'm very impressed with the Hyperion lineup this year!
Ran London Marathon in Adidas Boston 11's , what would you advise for my next one Manchester next year? Had no problems with them but wondered if I could do with more cushioning?
I've never had a Hoka that has worked for me. Purchased the Mach 6 (2E) and love them. Of course, your channel got me to try a shoe from a brand that I loathe! I don't watch much running content anymore. I have always loved your channel. I keep up with you, the Doctors of Running guys, and Stephen Scullion. You're up there with those warlords!
I have the Mach 6 and SL2 and I've had the fit issues with the Mach 6. The under foot feel on that shoe is great but it's not a shoe I want on my foot for 2 hours. The SL2 is so comfortable for me and much softer. It doesn't feel as quick as the Mach 6 but I can wear it all day. The forefoot also feels more protective. I'm looking at the Noosa Tri 16 as, possibly, the best of both worlds.
I scored a pair Puma VN3 for 40% off the other day, haven’t run in them yet but will be my next daily. I had great success with VN2 and put loads of Km’s in 2 pairs. Looking forward to getting some Ride 17 on discount, for Ride’s just get the odd numbers.
Have you ran in other Asics? If yes, how would you compare it? I'm intrigued by the low price while having decent foam and Ahar+ outsole and a wider base for stability...
@@JTD33 I've had some trail ones for years and some cheap asics from sports direct that did 100s of miles no problem. I'd say the gel pulse is a little firmer than maybe a higher priced shoe but was softening up on my 2nd run yesterday. Only minor things I notice is noisier when running as the outsole is quite firm but it probably means they will last ages. I'm hoping they are a cheap replacement to my Saucony Triumphs which were brilliant, so far so good.
I’d love too, but I’ve given up on Nike for the moment, I’ll see what others say but I have a feeling I’ve got other shoes in my rotation that’ll do the job better and at a cheaper price… I think! But I’m happy to be proved wrong 😂
I'm glad to see you're not ANTI-NIKE. I find 98 percent of UK reviews totally ingnore Nike! Thanks for including the Nike Pegasus!!! A great value for the durability!
Have ran around 800km in my Hoka mach 6 and seems to go much longer. Have done couple workouts but mainly easy or easy-steady runs. Great shoe! I weight around 60kg so helps for durability.
I have! Nearly got them before the noosa tri… with a 15% code I could get them for under 100 quid! But then I checked the specs and it’s not the new super critical EVA like what we have in the Machs, so decided against it
Waiting for the Hyperion 2 review anxiously
I want this to happen, but noosa tri 16 is up first
Waiting for Noosa Tri 16 review
Next Thursday 👊

@@liamglasper1127 yes not an intervals shoe but will go to 7 minutes a mile / 4 minutes 20 a km . Easy miles and long runs are the sweetspot

@@TheFODRunner I get you. The 2 is a good improvement with the full stack of nitro foam.
Good morning. Interesting top. For me: 1- Saucony ride 17. 2- NB fuelcell Rebel v4. 3- Asics superblast 2. Like to Andy. A nice weekend for everyone.
Brilliant! Thanks buddy
great vid Andy! if you did another one like this at the end of the year, i'd be hyped to see the noosa and hyperion 2 in the mix.
Adidas SL2 is a great daily trainer. Definitely my favourite of the year and was under £100 for me with a discount code 👍🏻
Amazing!

Great feedback, thanks for sharing! Interesting on the rebel….
Puma Velocity Nitro 3 ❤

I will definitely try and test this! Sounds like a glowing endorsement!

Ah thanks buddy that’s really kind, appreciate it!! Glad you’re enjoying the machs!!
Saucony Tempus or ASICS Novablast 3 for me, both under £100 if can source your size.
Are you getting the new Brooks Hyperion?
Noosa tri 16 first 👌

Sounds like we are the opposite with the Mach and the SL2!
I tested the noosa today, it was sublime

Hey, where did you find the pumas for 40% off? Wanted to try these shoes, but pricey
Bargain!!
@@michaelmcnally3813 a few weeks ago the Puma website had their end of financial year sale, at least in Australia anyway.
Just got Asics gel pulse 15 for £70 as my easy shoe. Can't really justify over £100 for an easy shoe, the prices are getting silly now.
Bargain!

Fantastic miles in them 👏
Have you seen the Rincon 4? That might fit in here. Welll, if it lasts longer than the Rincons in the past...
I had rincons, foam is crap, went like a brick after a short while, put me off Hoka for life
@@JoeMcGrath-ht9cc Yeah, mine really firmed up after less than 300k as well. Had the same experience with the Cliftons as well.
