    Wow that’s a fascinating guide to SE Asia hotspots not just for retirement but also vacation. Bali is still king after all these decades. Uluwatu is top10 surf spot worldwide. Also very interesting that you both rate Puerto Galera which is often overlooked. I visited PG 30 years ago and it’s very scenic with great beaches and convenient to Manila.

    Great video guys.
    I absolutely love all those places you mentioned.
    Ubud really is a special place. So relaxing and super laid back.
    Great place if you're into the arts also.
    I went to Panglau recently and fell in love with the place.
    I love that it feels like a small island 🏝 but is connected to Bohol and a stone throw from Cebu.
    I would love to retire there!
    Keep up the great content in your videos.

    Thanks for sharing, very interesting to see your choices. Ubud is a pretty special place and I also really like KL. A lot of those places are a mix of either too busy big cities or to low key small towns. The good thing is it is usually easy to travel in SE Asia so you can experience both. In se Asia you find people in the bigger cities wanting to go the smaller towns for the weekend and vice versa.

I've been here 6 years and you described it well. It is a big city and like any big city around the work it has it's issues with crowds, traffic, noise, and pollution but BKK is a vibrant exciting modern place to be that still retains it's Thainess at the street level.

    Good choices. I wonder you stay in Bali for so long and you have not yet seen the nearby places. Bangywangi is comparable to Puerta Galera, and its only a 30min ferry ride away. Malang is the Indonesian version of Baguio, just that it is much more impressive scenery with top excursions to Semeru or to Bromo. This is a one hour flight from Bali.

    Have you seen any land or other properties for sale in Ubud? If so what are some of the prices? If you don't know can you look in the local newspaper to see prices. I am just assuming is the rents are $600 and up per year to buy must be super very good too? If I am going to rent it would be off the beach but if I am going to but it most likely should be on the beach or so very close nearby. or a piece of land on and one off the beach so I can live in both places from time to time to balance things out. I've lived in Thailand for over 20 years off and on. The last six years in Phuket. The problem in Thailand is the cost of alcohol, from beer to wine to spirits. It's very expensive, much more expensive than the states. I have been staying in Bucerias, Mexico for the last six months and the cost of beer and all alcohol is at least 40% less expensive than in Thailand. My cost of living is less expensive here than Thailand. This new Vietnam visa thing is a bummer. I was planning on going there to live for a while. I think I'm going to go to Kampot now.

      Imported alcohol is expensive in Thailand. Particularly wine. Singha, Chang, Leo are all low cost anywhere here. And of course the expense will also depend on the currency exchange rate. In general, if you buy imported goods it is going to be more expensive here or anywhere.

    Hi, I am an American who has lived in China for 6 years and planning to relocate to Portugal. As a newcomer to your channel, I have found it quite informative. You mentioned using a visa agent to acquire visas before arriving at your destinations. Is it safe to mail in one's passport to an agent? Living in China, I am concerned about needing to have my passport.

    • @HoboVentures
      @HoboVentures  Год назад +1

      We just travel to the countries with tourist visa, and we extend our tourist visa by ourself in the immigration. We used one online travel agent to do Dan's Vietnam E-visa. (US citizen need to apply a E-visa before arrival to Vietnam) This is not request for mailing passport and you will get your visa once you arrival in Vietnam. We never mail our passport to travel/visa agent yet.

    There are no courts or judges. So you are guilty as accused, wheather you commited a crime or not. The police will take the word of the local person accusing you, wither you commited a crime or not. You have to pay the police whatever the police ask or go to prison. The U S embassy recogments that you leave the country asap because the local police will always believe the local person accousing you of the crime. There are no lawyers to help you.
