Honestly, I felt like Pearl was the out of touch awkward mother, amethyst was the fun slightly older sister, and garnet was the much older sister that is more mature and wise than the mom on some modern things
It's so cool seeing Pearl drawn in slightly different styles. You can see from the proportions and shapes when a different storyboard artist worked on an episode. Especially looking at the thickness of her arms in comparison to her hands, or looking at how circular vs oblong her head is.
Some artists hate it though, I've heard a lot of people complain about the inconsistencies in the art style. Some of them even say the entire show is garbage because of that! I personally don't care, i love Steven universe not because its consistency in art style, but because of, well, everything else.
That one scene where pearl was looking up at pink diamond in the moon base and then quickly looked away when pink looked back at her always melts my hearttttt she’s so cute

Sometimes I forget why I used to love this show so much and still hold it in high regard. The characters are off model, the story has some weird pacing, and there’s some very good videos outlining the major problems with the show, but somehow, every time I see a clip or collection of clips it’s incredible. And it’s nostalgic. This show is incredible.
People seem to not be able to get over the characters being off model, and it always seems strange to me. It's not like it was just animation mistakes, as it was done on purpose to show case the story board artists. You can know which story board artist boarded what episode just by looking at it, and it gave me a new appreciation and I even have 2 favorites out of the group. c: Jeff and Lamar. I used to watch the new episodes and try to guess who boarded it.
@redballoon yeah Lily Orchard is not a credible source. While unrelated they got so many things wrong on their Pokémon “retrospective”. They said that X and Y were too hard. Those two are widely considered to be the easiest games by FAR.
I also believe at 7:18 pearl isn’t actually talking about actual pie she’s talking about “pi” which is a term of numbers used in math that looks like “3.14159265359 “

@@karsenloveskartoons im glad u found solace in this show! a lot of people dont like it when she gets emotional or cries in the series, but i feel like when characters in any show cry like that, it shows vulnerability and how in tough times whether its real life or fictional, crying is okay. there are times when pearl acts selfish, but i think her flaws only make her a more realistic person. sometimes, you hurt others while you self-loathe and you don't notice. it makes her character development more satisfying in the end, if that makes sense! also i like this show bc wlw fighting magical rocks and banger ost im never not looping that one su relax playlist in case noone told u yet, ur doing great whatever it is ur going through. im looking forward to whats next on ur channel :DD

What ever did happen to that one human that looked like Rose? They kinda made it look like there was a story point being made there for Pearl before the series was close to ending. Still, I like where Pearl is where she ended at.

On a Steven Universe panel that aired before this season did, someone in the audience asked Dee dee Magno-Hall, Pearl's VA, what was one thing she liked about Pearl's new design in the upcoming season since it was said Pearl's design would change. Dee dee said "Without any spoilers, I've got one word: Bolero." AND PEARL GOT A BOLERO JACKET AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!! Also, notice that as the series went along, Pearl moved further and further away from skirts in her outfits. Her very first design when she was with Pink was a ballerina-type dress with ballet flats. Then her season 1 outfit had a transparent silk skirt over ballet shorts and a unitard with long socks and ballet flats. After being poofed by Holo-Pearl, she got her teal tunic with a sash, and ballet shorts with long socks and ballet flats. This latest outfit is a sleeveless tube top with a short-sleeved bolero jacket on top, capri leggings/pants and ballet flats with no socks.

I just had my birthday this past month (22 🥳) and a dear friend of mine gifted me something I'll NEVER forget! It was a personalized video from Cameo, from Dee Dee herself 😆 My friend knew I'm a diehard fan of SU and that if it weren't Steven, Pearl would be my favorite character. I cried ALL the tears and had ALL the feels and memories 😭 😂 🥰 Best. Surprise. EVER!

@@karsenloveskartoons im glad u found solace in this show! a lot of people dont like it when she gets emotional or cries in the series, but i feel like when characters in any show cry like that, it shows vulnerability and how in tough times whether its real life or fictional, crying is okay. there are times when pearl acts selfish, but i think her flaws only make her a more realistic person. sometimes, you hurt others while you self-loathe and you don't notice. it makes her character development more satisfying in the end, if that makes sense! also i like this show bc wlw fighting magical rocks and banger ost im never not looping that one su relax playlist

@@1OO495 omg i agree with you! despite her being selfish at some points, we all have our flaws. she's imperfect, but we all are. i love that they showed such an amazing character with flaws, it just means so much. but the fact that she kept improving herself proves that she is a good person. her getting emotional is something i find absolutely heartbreaking because i feel so bad for her and it makes me cry along with her. however, it really does show that vulnerability and being not okay is okay. that means so much to other people, as well as myself. she's just so cute and aaa i just love her- it's so embarrassing to feel this way about a fictional character but ejjrhfj

@it's karsen i agree so much omg i love how you said she's a good person because she's trying her best and it does show! there are times when she cant control her emotions and that happens with people who are struggling with grief and such. i cant describe how much i adore her and im glad to know im not the only one that cried over a fictional character lmaooa 😭 deedee's voice is sooooo i cant imagine pearl being voiced by anyone else her voice acting is so calming and heartbreaking in the right moments that makes the scene more emotional than it initially was. and pearl IS cute i absolutely 100% undeniably strongly agree . i have urges to talk abt her iconic tuxedo and jacket outfit all the time. and omg yes i forgot abt peridot being confirmed aroace everyone cheered that day!!! other reps are also well done and im glad they included that to make as much people as possible feel included. im kind of down bc of how they rushed the show and the story arcs just feel incomplete because i feel like the art style ost voice acting and others is already a 10/10 to me.
but its fun to talk about the positive things they did well in the series, which is a lot! dont feel bad about ranting bc i love hearing other peoples perspectives on things. hope ur doing great!!!

Dee dee said "Without any spoilers, I've got one word: Bolero." AND PEARL GOT A BOLERO JACKET AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!
Also, notice that as the series went along, Pearl moved further and further away from skirts in her outfits. Her very first design when she was with Pink was a ballerina-type dress with ballet flats. Then her season 1 outfit had a transparent silk skirt over ballet shorts and a unitard with long socks and ballet flats. After being poofed by Holo-Pearl, she got her teal tunic with a sash, and ballet shorts with long socks and ballet flats. This latest outfit is a sleeveless tube top with a short-sleeved bolero jacket on top, capri leggings/pants and ballet flats with no socks.

I just had my birthday this past month (22 🥳) and a dear friend of mine gifted me something I'll NEVER forget! It was a personalized video from Cameo, from Dee Dee herself 😆 My friend knew I'm a diehard fan of SU and that if it weren't Steven, Pearl would be my favorite character. I cried ALL the tears and had ALL the feels and memories 😭 😂 🥰 Best. Surprise. EVER!
