I own both Guidance and Lineage, and for me, Lineage is the true love of the two. It's a scent that is very hard to define. It smells like the color of the bottle. It's not an aquatic scent, but it does have a kind of salty seafoam quality to it. Mineral...like a blue/grey rock jutting out of a cold ocean. But it's also warm, in a weird way. Like you're standing on a chilly shoreline, but from somewhere, slightly far off , you can smell someone burning resinous wood in a fireplace. My husband actually pegged the scent for me in a just a few words, he said, " That smells like a Nor'easter. " And it does.
I always love the descriptive pictures you create to describe fragrances. Linkage sounds like a good warm pick for someone who loves Black Phantom by Kilian, which is cool.
Guidance seems to be quite mass appealing. It’s easier to understand than lineage. Lineage is a scent you have to sit with for a bit and try to understand it. It’s spicy,fresh, airy and to my nose „cold“. Also somewhat salty. „clean vibes“ is what comes to mind. It’s airy, but packs a punch. quite alluring in my opinion and very interesting composition . I think it’s gorgeous…❤️ very Amouage and as usual not for everyone…
I had a chance to test this and guidance recently and I actually like this one much better! I wonder why Guidance is the one that got popular. I don’t hate it or anything but I’d say Guidance was a like, Lineage was a love.
What Season is this best for and can you wear it all year round? Does it have a soft projection and is the longevity good? It sounds intriguing and I love the picture you painted 🥰.
Hi darling, I love your description of the fragrance and I feel the same, first I bought odyssey collection sample to check Guidance and when I smelled Lineage I felt in love with that more than Guidance and decided to buy a bottle of Lineage, and definitely that was the best for me
I waa scared coz my bottle is on the way. I read and watch review saying its not good. When i read you comment. I felt better and im a man . cant wait for the bottle to arrive.
I love crimson rocks. CR smells amazing on skin in the winter months and stays true to what you smell on paper and in the ingredients list. Caution though, it’s not for the faint of heart. Lineage smells amazing on paper/air but turns in to powdered cough syrup on skin. Perhaps it’s just my sister and I but definitely recommend getting a sample/decant prior to splurging. Big waste of money for me.
Lineage smells amazing when sprayed in the air or on paper but smells like powdered cough syrup on my skin and my sister’s 🤢. Make sure you wear test this before u purchase. I regret purchasing it at all.
I haven’t smelt this yet but, from the others I have tried I can’t say I’ve been impressed by Mr. Salmon’s efforts so far. Enclave was horrible, just my opinion of course 😅 And I usually love Amouage. One of my favourite houses. Thanks 😊
@@patr70 I am so very familiar with Amouge (since the company's inception), in addition to the fact that I come from the same part of the world (culture, climate, environment...i.e. The Arabian Gulf) frankly saying I personally do not own any of their fragrances (yet).... may be in the future I will find the Amouge fragrance that speaks to me. Thank you for sharing.
I am planning to sample the latest 4. But I definitely feel Amouage releases have not been nowhere near as good as before since the new creative director took over.

I smelled lineage, material n guidance side by side by side a few days back. My fave was lineage, then material n lastly guidance.

Amouage is better than most fragrance houses. Maybe those reviews are from people who's nose isn't as evolved as they could be..
