Danie the finished product was phenomenal, it was better than it's ever been. That being said, from one furniture flipper to another, the sheer amount of prep work you put into that is so easily glossed over in a video. You put some SERIOUS hours of hard graft into prepping that piece. Even just stripping of the old varnish is a long & messy job. Huge kudos to you. You worked so hard & have created a genuine treasure.
You just create magic. I was stunned when I saw that wallpaper. Your effort and demenor to get the result you dreamed of is oustanding. Well done girl. Its time to build your own steady work table now. 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I love how this turned out. I have one that was my Great Grandmother's. I don't even know how old it is. She had it as far back as I can remember and it passed from generation to generation. Its a deep dark walnut color and I love it. It never occurred to me to change anything, but I absolutely love the wallpaper and stationary sorting insert you added. I may have to do some updating to mine! Thank you for sharing!
I am in love!!!!! I bet your MIL is too!!!!! You couldn't have found better wallpaper either!!!!! It looks like it has always been there! I love it!!!!!! ❤❤❤
Ok...now I want one! Danie - this is gorgeous! The wood stain, so beautiful! It was the perfect color! Would love have seen your mother -in-law's expression. Yet! I can probably say she loved it! So fitting with the antique picture and frame right above it. I continually stand in amazement with your skills and your abilities. Your family is blessed to have you! ❤ Enjoy your day and have a fan-tab-u-lous weekend!!
I can't believe my luck .... I have one of these in pieces in my basement as I've been thinking about what to do with it. Mine isn't as good quality as yours, but I'm going to borrow some of your ideas to make it look 1000 times better. I absolutely love how you improved it while still being true to the spirit of the piece. Phenomenal makeover!!!!
loove the wallpaper, looks so beautiful, and the stain, finally someone who appreciates reddish darkish wood colors although one thing using peel and stick copper tiles would have made things so much smoother.
Wouldn’t change a thing! So so so very beautiful! I have a barrister bookcase that I wasn’t even able to sell at my yard sale. You’ve inspired me to keep it and make a project out of it!! ❤
Fantastic job! I love Cooper!. I have used a torch to antique it Cooper before but the finger and salt gives a total different look. Thanks for the tip. It warms my heart to see the younger generation either restoring or up cycling old furniture. Its been my passion for many years.❣❣
This piece looks amazing. You did an excellent job taking your time and doing all the necessary prep work to insure such a beautiful finished bookcase. The only thing I would have done differently would have been to test the copper aging on a piece of the copper tile that you had originally tried as a top solution. That way in case it didn’t work out, you didn’t ruin the entire good top.
So I just found you yesterday and am already a subscriber and am addicted to watching your vids! I don’t think I would change anything about this fabulous book cabinet! Your hubby is right- it looks like it was always this way ❤
Love this! I have a barrister bookcase that is almost identical to this. Luckily, it hasn't suffered the same treatment over the years. You've given me some new ideas. I love that wallpaper detail!
I had been looking for a barrister bookcase for a long time and eventually gave up and used a midcentury hutch (which still looks great), so when you found this I got so excited! I have watched all of your videos and my husband and I get excited to see his name at the end of each video. This flip was soooooooo good! I totally agree with Geoffery that the wallpaper looks like it was made for it. And the copper top!! Btw - I also loved the Zelda hutch! I don’t even play video games because I have absolutely no hand-eye coordination. Great job! You are so funny!
I would not change a thing!!! I love how you embraced the history of the piece and made it useful for the present. I would've liked to see your mother in law's reaction.
Great piece! The wallpaper is a really good idea. Only one thing, I would have done differently. I would have use that moulding you used for the front as edgebanding on the stationery organizer. . Best wishes from Germany
Love, love, love!!! I have a four piece that my father bought for $25 per piece in 1967. I used it as a doll house when I was young and now I use as an adult beverage cabinet!!!!
Wow! This turned out so well, you did a phenomenal job. I’ll bet your mother in law was thrilled and very impressed with your skills. Congratulations 🎉
That looks *incredible!* You did an amazing job! I have a 5 section antique barrister bookcase in near perfect original condition but you have inspired me to make a few improvments on it anyway- Love the cubbies and the wall paper you chose! SUBSCRIBED!!!
I love this bookcase refresh! My mother has an old 4-tier case, but unfortunately all of the glass fronts have been broken (probably by my wreckless self) over the years. Perhaps I should attempt an upgrade!
I don't mean to be a downer (and maybe someone can help me) but Danie, do you have any say in the kinds of ads YT puts on your vids? I saw a disturbing one and will be contacting YT myself, but wondered if I should email you directly so you can alert YT as well?
I wasn't exactly sure how this was going to turn out when you were describing what you were going to do. However, "MIND BLOWN" this turned out to be absolutely stunning. That choice of wallpaper, was spot on. LOVE IT!!!!
Videos like these are like the grown- up version of Saturday morning cartoons. 💛🙂 thanks, Danie !!
the best compliment ever
You are my Saturday morning cartoons!!!
Couldn't have said it better ! I agree 100% ❤
That's an astute observation!
I say the something every weekend!

Those hours are always worth it though!!! It’s tough in the process but you forget it all in a second when you see that finished piece 😍
@DIYDanie absolutely, without all that prep the finished piece would look substandard. Great work.
Gorgeous piece absolutely brilliant The only thing I would have done different is I would have put a clear coat on the copper
Gorgeous! You did a fantastic job. Jeffery was right the wallpaper does look like it’s always been there!
So cute how much the neighbors dog loves you ❤ Beautiful job on the bookcases, wallpaper is gorgeous.
unbelievable transformation!!! Love the copper and the wallpaper!!! Great job!!!!!
You made a vintage piece of junk look like a million bucks!!!!!🎉🎉🎉🎉 Great Job!!!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

This turned out so beautiful!! I LOVE the wallpaper. Your mother in law is very lucky!
