Watching these videos is delightful; they inspire me to think about what to cook for dinner. They also show that airports can be a place for an afternoon out without going anywhere.
Perhaps I misunderstand your post; thankfully Narita and Haneda are not like US airports where, if you do not have lounge access, you are forced to eat basically mall food at inflated prices. So you can arrive early for your flight with some pleasurable anticipation. But you would never want to go as an alternative to a meal out in town. Narita in particular is hard to access, even for people living nearby. Urban Japanese train stations, on the other hand, are places that have a concentration of eating places, so you might go there without necessarily needing to take the train.
"I'm ready to eat" 😂😂 That omelette with the pork and onions etc looked amazing. I watched that segment twice. Eggs with rice is also just a match made in heaven, eggs are almost pure protein and rice is almost pure carbohydrate.
I have not been to Japan yet so everything will be new to me but, I did like the coffee house Tillies since like you said it was less crowded than the Starbucks' restaurant. It was cozy and you were able to see the planes. ❤
I remember two decades ago, I had a canceled international flight on a Japanese airline. They provided a free night's hotel near the airport, as well as dinner and breakfast since the flight was rescheduled for the next day. I think it was at the same dashi chazuke en where I got a tuna chazuke. The worker there was very kind and explained how to eat it.
Just realized every time we go home from Japan, we didn't have time to eat cause it's close to departure 😂 the one time we eat before we leave is at kansai airport in Osaka. But least we eat first before we go to the city when we arrived at Narita Airport
On our last trip to Japan, before we left, we were planning to eat at Narita, but because check-in took over 2 hours, we didnt have time. So my first meal on this trip: It was a ramen in Kagoshima. I was ill the day before and trowing up a lot, and the flight from Narita to Kagoshima was therefore awful for me. After 24 hours of not eating, the ramen was like a life saver, and my friend said that she could literally see the life returning to me, as I started eating the delicious ramen.
9:21 the autistic part of me wants to play with that spoon! That is a thing of beauty! The artistic craftsperson part of me appreciates how well made it looks, smooth and so well balanced. I don’t do egg, they make me itch & I think the white & yolk combined 🤮 it’s horrible, so I’ll be happy with the spoon 😁
Thanks for this!! I arrive and leave from Narita here in a few months...what wonderful food I'll have for a welcoming first meal and a bittersweet last meal.
One thing you immediately notice is that the name of the dishes are in both Japanese and English, mostly because they are operating in an _international_ airport terminal.
Oh, Japan, I wish you could create a way for everyone to simply reach out and discover the wonders of your incredible cuisine! It’s truly sensational and adds so much joy to my life. I dream of the day we meet, my friend; we could share countless moments together and enjoy all that life has to offer!
I ate at that ochazuke place last time I flew out of Narita. At some point I noticed everyone else eating there was a woman. I'm curious if it's not popular with men except maybe after drinking?
The last meal I had at an airport was a very mediocre cheesesteak in Newark that was almost $25 (¥3,850). Basically everything there looks good compared to that.
"Osaka International - this is Narita!" "Yes?" "A man is going to come and eat all the food in the terminal. He is not a threat, I repeat, not a threat to anyone but his digestive system" "Wait, wasn't he at Haneda last week?" "Yes....they had to ship more food in"
The takoyaki is the palate killer. I had them in Asakusa many years ago and burnt my mouth because I did not know it was extremely hot inside. I believe you traveled to the United States before? Count your blessing that the takoyaki is not up to the standard in Japan. It is MUCH WORST what they give you in the US when you order fast food!
He stated he was eating at restaurants before security and couldn't eat at the restaurant he originally wanted to eat in because it was on the airside, after security, where you must present tickets and boarding passes to enter? Standard for an international airport to have dining and shopping levels. Is there an adult in your home that can explain it to you?

When I come to Japan I plan to stay and visit the airport for a while thanks to STJ's videos :)
I'm a pretty decent cook, but I would find some of those dishes very very hard to do. That's a major compliment.

I so enjoy that you share your misadventures too
You can’t go wrong with sushi! Nice video STJ 😊👍🏻
I feel so happy when I see !!
I love the Takoyaki from Donki! I can't get enough of them!
I wish I could try all the yummy food. This is such a great reference for travelers.
i would be having fun eating at all those wonderful japanese food places, i love chazuke aka chagai!!!!
Glad to see all the !! marks.
Aaaaww yisss. I really enjoy all your videos.
+1 for this recommendation! I ate at the ochazuke place two years ago when I was coming home from Japan!

Great looking food. Made me hungry even though I have just eaten. I don’t believe that our airport has nice places to eat except for the air side.

This would be a good first meal option too.
Beautiful ❤

Thanks for always supporting me!

Thank you for making food video for Narita too😊
You ate well!! Wow….where do u put it all?? 😋
Honestly I found the salad to be the most appealing item you consumed.
My last meal in japan was tonkatsu and fried scallop at T2 Narita 😢😢
A vlog on vegetarian food in Japan would be nice.
In 2023 there was a Seven Eleven after passport control with normal (not airport) prices... Got my last meal in Japan from them

2 friends of mine got bacon and eggs at LA Airport (LAX.) $70!!! For _bacon and eggs!_
Thanks for this!! I arrive and leave from Narita here in a few months...what wonderful food I'll have for a welcoming first meal and a bittersweet last meal.
I don't suppose you could do this for KIX?
Ah. Takoyaki. How I miss you so. Oof. The price of that salad bowl is what I'm used to seeing in any random airport.
Last time I was in Japan the leaving meals were omurice and of course Curry!!
Last airport meal was egg sandwich, sake and earl gray chocolate mousse cake.
"Next..." 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Salad? Meh. Happy New Year Solo-san
Look at you ordering a salad! It looked really tasty! 😋

I wish our airport had food like that in the US. Also I wouldn’t call that an airport. That’s a legit hangout spot cause it has a bunch of stuff
narita is just really far away from tokyo :/
My last meal was yakiniki like. After check in I ate an egg sando.
Tempura from Haneda terminal 3
Salad + Beer = Healthy

I don't remember my last meal in Japan. I was 4 years old.
When I flew out of Narita earlier this year, my last meal in Japan was a premium unagi bento box. Had to wait ten minutes but WELL worth the wait 😋!

Interesting seeing brands that aren't around in the US (where they originated) any more still active in Japan (Tully's, Dean & Deluca)
With so many choices, I could never decide.

What's the most non-American thing you can order at a McDonald's in Japan? I saw the logo for one, got me curious.

I don’t want any of that
I don't see a hamburger to eat there
I saw McDonald's on the information boards
Sounds like Japanese airports do not have as tight security as in the US. You cannot roam around a US airport if you’re not a passenger. 😮

everything but the raw fish for me
