      Gotta admit the game is nowhere near as hype as the old games. And its because of a lack of depth. I know im beating a dead horse but man ppl knew immediately and it holds up after time the game is just too simple. It makes tourneys so boring when u just know whos gonna be in GF and Winners simply because the game lacks the depth to overcome the top tiers resulting it basically zero upsets and zero hype moments.

    For those who are new I also wanna stress to learn at your own pace. Dont feel rushed to learn 50% red RC link combos if you havent been able to land any normal shorter ones in game. Make sure to get comfortable just playing the game, moving around, and like LK said, cleaning up your inputs. And a huge tip: focus on your opponent. Once you know how your character moves and what your buttons/specials do, your goal should be to keep your focus on your opponent while your character does what you want them to do in your periphery. This means you are in control of your character, and will make you a much better player.
    Good luck and have fun!

      If you arent going to learn all that RC/Combo/Movement/etc shit u will always get ur ass beaten. This game lacks of visible framedata numbers, hit and hurtboxes. You cant learn what you cant understand. And the answer is always: go and watch sajam or go and check this shit on dustloop. This is not how game should work and not how newbie can learn something. How that focus on the opponent would help you with understanding the game concepts? U can say go and try that in-game trials with hard combos for characters who you never gonna use(i mean that Sol combo with RC cancel(damn why I should learn that shit for Sol, why devs cant add combos for my char like they did it for other trials)). There are tons of players who dropped the game just because they cant play it. I think its not a skill issue or scrub quotes. People just dont have any chances to learn the game in a proper way.

    • @ProitoOk
      @ProitoOk Год назад +1

      @@kaempfer_desu I think Strive just tries to separate the difficult of making combos (micro) with the difficult of the actual game mechanics, and, of curse, neutral (macro). So you can still win without mastering longer combos. That of course, goes against many players game style, who just find more enjoyable the part of doing crazy and hard combos. But it just changes the micro for a "grounded footsies game" full of decisions you have to do to break neutral (and still giving a lot of relevance to combos). I don't want to debate if that change was good or bad to the game, just wanted to give my opinion :p

    I'm already about 40 hours in game and I love it so much. My main problem for now is sloppy inputs, but I'm trying to get out from it. Even when I lose I'm still learning, like investigating this matchup I lost, or if I play mirror matches I instantly learn some new combos and new ways to get out from some situations for my character. This is my very first fighting game experience and I know that'll be a long adventure, but I like it a lot. Best advice is to not give up even if it feels that you're not improving and just enjoy small wins from matches: "Did I countered that air hit? Did I made my learned combo work in this round? Or did I cornered my opponent?" - these small steps always encourage me to continue playing and still have fun.

    Good tips in comments already. If I could add one, learn to be comfortable blocking when your health drops lower than your opponent's. I've noticed that whether they're floor 5 or floor 10, people get impatient or nervous as soon as they're at a deficit. The fastest way to lose here is getting counterhit. Mashing out of an opponent's blockstring can work, but its going to get you killed more often than not. Longstory long, please learn to stay patient regardless of the health deficit, you can still make a comeback.

      @@DualClassic64 What this guy said. Use what works best for you.
      Personally, when I started in the genre back in 2010, I found I had a small issue to overcome on both options: on a d-pad I found special moves, especially those longer than a quarter-circle, harder to do, while on the analog stick I found dashing harder to do. Ultimately I decided it was easier to get better at dashing with the analog stick than specials on the d-pad, so I stuck with that, and it indeed didn't take long to overcome that issue. I still use it today, and now I'm good enough to make Heaven in Strive.
      At the end of the day, any controller option available to you will work, so just use what feels best for you.

    If you a new player in the comments welcome!! GGST is hella fun and if you put in the same amount of time as a typical RPG (40 hours) you'll find that you'll have come a really long way in what feels like a short amount of time.
    That being said, the biggest take away I'd say is using those RC's. Meter usage is a sign of an experienced player vs someone just hitting buttons. If all you can do with your meter is mash wake-up super then your opponent will always be ready for you once you have 50 meter. But if you're constantly mixing it up then it makes you that much more dangerous!
    LK went over it briefly, but using that purple RC to cancel moves to make them safe is almost always a better use of meter than trying to mash out a super. When I teach my friends how to get better, I always want to keep pestering them about using RC, but it becomes information overload. So hopefully you new players will be better students than my friends and learn to RC earlier haha

Dustloop is the de facto Guilty Gear wiki and there's Infil's Fighting Game Glossary. Sajam's videos are a great resource too. Honestly, step 1 if you're really new is learning special inputs and easy combos from the most common starters. Both have huge playerbases and a strong community. If you're on a tight budget, waiting is the best plan. If not, GG is a great choice whether its your first FG or you're an FG veteran.
      Edit: GG dlc is expensive, but theres a lot of detail put into each char that its worth it. Sometimes season passes go on sale.

      Wait for sales sadly. It does get discounted very often but you just have to be patient, if you can there's usual good deals to get the game, Season Pass 1 and 2 for about $60 which is much better than the $80 they offer for it

    I feel like "know your combos" is going too fast when telling new players how to enjoy a fighting game. Find what you think is fun first, mess around and such. Binging labbing from the start can sour any play session.

    this game feels so janky. and why are there no combo strings? it leads to just more spam

    • @ahadkhan3486
      @ahadkhan3486 Год назад +7

      There are no strings due to the fact that this is using a gatling combo system for its combos, rather than any pre-canned strings. There are also links in the game but the main way to combo would be to cancel normals into other normals or into specials. There are certain normals that dont tend to gatling into other due to the new gatling system in this version of the game, but generally speaking you can gatling Slashes into Heavy Slashes, and 2K into 2D etc. While you can definitly look online at what gatlings your character can do, this is not nessesary as the system is pretty streamlined for all characters, and you should be able to pick up what button cancels into what pretty quickly due to playing the game. As for your comment about spam, im unsure what exactly you are refering to here, so if you could give me an example of what you mean I can try my best to help.

    My advice for new players: play Arcade Mode, and don’t bother playing online until you can solo the Arcade boss. The Arcade boss is so unfair that it forces you to get more comfortable with core mechanics like Throws and Faultless Defense. By the time you do that, you’ll be ready for Floor 5 or higher.

      As someone who started to play fighting games online with Strive (back when the game dropped), I can tell you that I've never touched Arcade mode in my life and I currently reside on Floor 10.
      Not the best advice, to be honest with you. People will just learn to cheese through the boss and will develop nasty habits in their play from that.

    • @NrettG
      @NrettG Год назад

      I'd say a healthy mix of everything for some better advice. Arcade Mode is just fun in general but try every mode out there. Even for just a round or two.
      Although the best advice I can give is to strive (haha funni pun) to get better at the game. Always remember that just by playing the game for one minute already makes you a better player than you were a minute ago.
