Whenever she disappeared for months, threw her in that “treatment center” and forced her on lithium, that was a period where it was clear something wasn’t right. But that was only a few years ago and she’s since been ok. Kind of rude to say that 2009 was the last time she was coherent. She seemed fine on all of the tours. She looked depressed, but she was all there, so to speak.

What got me was that moment when she looked out the window, right before she said she was sad. I knew there were things in her eyes, sadness, fear, it's as if she were looking out the window like a caged animal that couldn't get out, like she knew the outside world for her and the freedom she had was going to be gone for a long time, it was like she was looking at freedom for the last time. Truly heart breaking, her eyes were so expressive in that moment.
I always wondered why her team thought this was a good idea to put out. She lays it all out there and says how isolated and sad she is in her situation. Not only that, but clearly and obviously not incompetent.
Because with the missing context that it's her family that shes talking about, everyone assumed she was talking about paparazzi and the sam guy or drugs. When you hear this knowing all that context about what her family's done, it's so damn clear, but before it wasn't. They made her seem mentally unstable and like she was goin on a party spree and out of control. So if you listen again from that standpoint it's like shes regretting her own decisions you know? Britney had a substance abuse problem and almost overdosed on a drug, her security came into her room and found her on the floor unresponsive so she almost died this was before she shaved her head. Britney had a lot of problems she she obviously isn't gonna admit but she shaved her head to get rid of any traces of drugs out of fear losing her toddlers back then. I know I'm wasting my time explaining something that her fans don't wanna hear or believe bc they adore Brit to the bone. But Britney has also on her own put herself in a very bad situation. She does suffer from mental illness that prevents her from making rational decisions and she did have a substance abuse problem.
Artists are creative souls and are free spirited. They cant thrive in the confinement of rules and being controlled. Being controlled is against the core of who they are. This is when they rebel. Everyone makes mistakes but you cant pay for it the rest of your life and be reminded of it every day.

In fact, they have emails from Lou Taylor that would incriminate her with buying judges, about what day to go and which judge they would get "help" from and how happy she was to carry out her plan. Emails that were sent with James Spears. Nothing has been done with that information yet. It is still not further investigated why when James Spears takes on a debt to Lou Taylor's company for a loan, the conservatorship plan begins. They had planned that the way was to break Britney emotionally to make her weak. They planned and conspired so that this series of situations trapped Britney forever. They had the media in their favor, they always knew that Lou Taylor's influences would imprison Britney and that everyone would keep quiet to maintain their career. They knew that the media would be the perfect outlet because of the horrible relationship Britney had with the press in general. I don't know why Judge Penny is still in this case. All this is the most absurd and what they want to do is for Britney to continue spending money, while Penny collects her bribe, like everyone else involved to stop a case that already has enough incriminating evidence against those psychopaths. Also, in the first instance, Britney's medical papers were never presented to start conservatorship, even Penny herself has to admit it in one of the sessions when James Spears asks for Britney's medical papers to show that she should continue to be under conservatorship. The legal sessions that caught Britney in custody consisted of recriminating her outfits at shows and her relationship with the media and what came out of her in magazines. This is the story of the great scam against Britney Spears and everyone is cooperating so that she does not receive justice as she deserves because of the scammer team are very powerful people, there are even churches involved in this. Britney's family was only a vehicle for Lou Taylor, who is the businesswoman of celebrity conservatorship. She was after Britney long ago and saw in Britney's family great ambition and envy. I remember when this aired on MTV, there is a part specifically during the documentary when they ask her “Britney, do you feel like your life is out of control” she pauses and starts crying and says “No! That’s the problem, my life is to in control, there is no passion or fire” she was sending warning signs for years. I’m so happy she is finally free. This documentary is excellent but in retrospect its angle is still accusatory and victimising. The culture back then still wanted Britney to admit to fault and explain every decision she made. She didn't owe us anything and none of this was her fault. I hope one day we can get an interview that comes from a point of empathy and compassion
Good point. And you’re right. In our head as society - we wanted to watch this to hear her explain her actions and to plainly take responsibility and answer WHY. I am not saying that was my mind frame or yours, but the general census at the time and even the interviewee. You can tell he’s trying to get what he can but in a respectful way. She’s strong tho. Many people in her position would have made every excuse in the world. She wouldn’t even be labeled a victim and in many ways she was. She was victimized by the industry and the tabloids and the public. Another thing that sticks out to me is where she says “ she’s talking but not one is listening. From old perverts flirting with a teenage girl about her sexuality on national television to humiliating her as an “entertainment” factor but in reality they would bully her and attempt to delegitimize her. To other things like massive crowds of paparazzi hounding her and taking pictures of her privates and it ending up online and everywhere else. The paparazzi responsible for that in todays world would be blasted and possibly criminally charged. It wouldn’t fly but back then the Internet comments shamed and blamed her for the shot and nowhere was anybody else mentioned. It was criminal. We encouraged bullying and made jokes out of the people we built up - specifically females - and it’s crazy to think what was allowed. The late night jokes would go hard and say things that would get them off air today. So in many ways a lot has changed in such a short time but it took so much abuse by people like Britney before that happened. Britney will for sure be a face for change in the industry - and has been.
Britney is kind and it was taken advantage of. It’s so important to be confident, self assured and never let anyone take advantage of or disrespect you. Friends, family, parents …… I feel Britney made this mistake and paid dearly. Truly wish her the best going forward in life.
I was looking for this interview after I finished her memoir especially the part where she says "they hear her but really not listening and it's bad, really bad. I'm sad. There's no passion, there's no excitement. It's like groundhog day everyday" I feel it every time I remember the interview. I am happy that she shared her experience in more details in her memoir.
I’ve been through psychological treatment since child and def when I saw it first time. Change my life I knew it she was being control. The father bond was really harsh.
I always am reminded of Girl interrupted when I see this. Why did Britney have to be diagnosed as crazy? She was just a woman who wanted to live her life on her terms. She was spontaneous and original, but she couldn’t be brilliant without flaws, the media and her family/ team took care of the latter and the public would have rather believe the most salacious stories about her, rather than the brilliance and talent behind the name. This special was the last time we saw Britney before the conservatorship eventually consumed her and forced her into a dark period that she may never be able to leave behind. While Britney is free, I sincerely hope she finds happiness wherever she can and is able to enjoy her life as she sees fit, as she’s truly earned it…💕💕💕
She had postnatal depression because she had 2 babies back to back there was no justification for it. It was always about money that's why she was working within the first few months of the conservatorship doing How I met your mother, then doing this documentary, album and tour and then to break into her trust she had set up. The funniest thing is with all that money they couldn't get 2 doctors to sign off on her been as bad as they claimed. The judge even without those signatures which are meant to signed btw made it easy for her team to continue the conservatorship that's the corruption right there. Now if it was about her wellbeing and not money why was she working so fast she should have had a break for at least 2 or 3 years.
This was her last real interview until June of 2021 when she told the world how abusive her conservatorship was. I think at this point she was still under the impression that the conservatorship was temporary and it would dissolve by the start of 2009, when it fact it was made permanent. I feel bad for this woman, as she's clearly telling the world through this interview that she's a hostage and how bad people are still taking advantaged of her. But the world only wanted to hear her apologize for her meltdown. Sad world we live in. I don't think she'll ever truly heal from this, but hopefully she manages to find happiness. I wouldn't be able to trust my own children after going through what she went through.
I know :) I feel so bad I didn't see how smart Britney was back in the day. I mean, she may not have studied far in a formal way but she's clearly very intuitive, self-aware and sees what's going on around her :) She also had some writing ability, teaming up and co-writing a lot of her music and coming up with the concepts for a lot of her videos. Her life was already heavily controlled at this point. If you watch the full documentary you’ll see her father and managers in meetings discussing her when she isnt there, and in the bonus material they surprise her with her own car. They let her go for a drive in her own car, which she wasnt and still isnt allowed to do without permission. I think they put her on more medications since this which is why she acts so weird some times, but controlwise it seems to be pretty much the same.
Critics complained she didn't explain anything then. But she explained everything she had to. Britney's a genius and I'm so sorry it took us this long to understand her cry for help. It was always about control
I've always loved Britney. As I was growing up I admired her for her strength, smile, and positivity. But as I've gotten older and I look back at her interviews my heart just breaks for her. She's smiling and positive in them, but I think underneath her smile is a lot of pain and suppressed emotion. I wish she would of just allowed that emotion to come out more, even when it wasn't good stuff. Because faking a smile and acting like everything is ok is very damaging and only makes things worse.
She was dropping so many clues. She knew she couldn't out right explain it otherwise they wouldn't of released it, so she used metaphors and euphemisms. Jail? Conservatorship. Beautiful part and the cruelest part? When her life belonged to her, before she was told how many times she could have Sushi or when she could buy a pair of shoes. She did clearly express the doctors and lawyers but only briefly, expressing how she would feel liberated if she were free from that...but it was part of her jail. I could list so many more clues that she dropped in this documentary. But everyone thought she was getting help and that she needed it and no one had any idea about the Cship. That awful thing never should have been put in place but honestly since it was, it should have been terminated after the Circus era, she got back on track, made an album, went on a tour. How can a judge look at that and say she still needed one? Then they tried to erase it from history, too bad for them, I bought the DVD on amazon before things really got heated, I know there are other used versions of the DVD out there, that was their biggest mistake and it stamped everything she said in history.
And to know this was only after the first 3 years of this abusive Conservatorship. 10 more miserable years to follow...I don't know how she did it, how she's still alive today! But she did it! She didn’t have a “normal” life she was busy making her family money and when she wanted to have a normal life got taken away, even tho she already made it in life, had her family set for life before she was 25! I feel like they promise to her to get rid of the conservatorship, but they lied. That’s why she was well during 2008-2009, until 2010 when they set up the conservatorship for her entire life and she started looking sad.

As the years go on, the life behind her eyes start to slowly fade. You can see how the medication they forced her to take, start to slow her down. Her soul slowly slips further away the longer the conservatorship went on. Its truly heartbreaking to see this amazingly sweet, talented, beautiful woman, turn into an empty shell of the person she once was. I just hope and pray that she finds peace and happiness in her life. I really do. I'm always rooting for you Britney! I really am. I have nothing but love and respect for this woman. This was the best documentary regarding Britney Spears and what actually happened via Britney Spears herself! She was opened, honest, and very articulated and knew exactly what had happened and what was happening, I watched the full documentary and couldn't believe how sweet and beautiful she is. What happened after was greed, bullying and silencing a powerful young artist for their own benefit, She once said her biggest fear was that her family would take it all away. This has NEVER been so relevant than now. Girl has been crying out for help the best she knows possible from the beginning of this thing. Truly remarkable how the conservatorship was decided in under 15 minutes with her not even present for it and held for more than a decade after. The only reason they were allowed to pass it so quickly in the way that they did was because it was a “temporary”conservatorship; therefore it remains indefinitely. For as long as they want it. Another thing that’s remarkable is that it was the fans that freed her ultimately. The free Britney movement and her few outspoken supporters who had a platform, while those closest in her life who supposedly loved her the most were the most absent. Those who were close to her at the time that it was placed that ARE NOT today bailed on her because her team and her father threatened them and cut everybody off. But I will say one thing; if this were my sister I would’ve been her main supporter and I would’ve been doing the media rounds getting the word out in support of her from the start.
What surprises me is that it started with something as simple as a fan comment telling her to wear a yellow shirt in her next post if she needed help and sure enough, she did. She knew the fans were finally becoming concerned and when she was given a definite way to confirm it, she took the opportunity and wore that yellow shirt.

as soon as the conservatorship ended i saw her start to be her again, i think that over the next few years she will fully become herself again.

What got me was that moment when she looked out the window, right before she said she was sad. I knew there were things in her eyes, sadness, fear, it's as if she were looking out the window like a caged animal that couldn't get out, like she knew the outside world for her and the freedom she had was going to be gone for a long time, it was like she was looking at freedom for the last time. When you hear this knowing all that context about what her family's done, it's so damn clear, but before it wasn't. They made her seem mentally unstable and like she was goin on a party spree and out of control. So if you listen again from that standpoint it's like shes regretting her own decisions you know? Britney had a substance abuse problem and almost overdosed on a drug, her security came into her room and found her on the floor unresponsive so she almost died this was before she shaved her head. Britney had a lot of problems she she obviously isn't gonna admit but she shaved her head to get rid of any traces of drugs out of fear losing her toddlers back then. I know I'm wasting my time explaining something that her fans don't wanna hear or believe bc they adore Brit to the bone. But Britney has also on her own put herself in a very bad situation. She does suffer from mental illness that prevents her from making rational decisions and she did have a substance abuse problem.

In fact, they have emails from Lou Taylor that would incriminate her with buying judges, about what day to go and which judge they would get "help" from and how happy she was to carry out her plan. Emails that were sent with James Spears. Nothing has been done with that information yet. It is still not further investigated why when James Spears takes on a debt to Lou Taylor's company for a loan, the conservatorship plan begins. They had planned that the way was to break Britney emotionally to make her weak. They planned and conspired so that this series of situations trapped Britney forever. They had the media in their favor, they always knew that Lou Taylor's influences would imprison Britney and that everyone would keep quiet to maintain their career. They knew that the media would be the perfect outlet because of the horrible relationship Britney had with the press in general. I don't know why Judge Penny is still in this case. All this is the most absurd and what they want to do is for Britney to continue spending money, while Penny collects her bribe, like everyone else involved to stop a case that already has enough incriminating evidence against those psychopaths. Also, in the first instance, Britney's medical papers were never presented to start conservatorship, even Penny herself has to admit it in one of the sessions when James Spears asks for Britney's medical papers to show that she should continue to be under conservatorship. The legal sessions that caught Britney in custody consisted of recriminating her outfits at shows and her relationship with the media and what came out of her in magazines. This is the story of the great scam against Britney Spears and everyone is cooperating so that she does not receive justice as she deserves because of the scammer team are very powerful people, there are even churches involved in this.
Britney's family was only a vehicle for Lou Taylor, who is the businesswoman of celebrity conservatorship. She was after Britney long ago and saw in Britney's family great ambition and envy. She got a perfect plan. Lou Taylor made Britney's life miserable and she knew who to count on, Britney was always an artist with everything to lose even though she was the most successful, she had many blind spots due to her character and personality. She was trained to think and feel that she should take care of the incompetents in her family with her success. They trained her for it. I remember when this aired on MTV, there is a part specifically during the documentary when they ask her “Britney, do you feel like your life is out of control” she pauses and starts crying and says “No! That’s the problem, my life is to in control, there is no passion or fire” she was sending warning signs for years. I’m so happy she is finally free. I think there's definitely a side of her that's addicted to the drama. Like she courts controversy...and then it gets to be too much. Because she's too famous and that attention she wants could crush her.
This documentary is excellent but in retrospect its angle is still accusatory and victimising. The culture back then still wanted Britney to admit to fault and explain every decision she made. She didn't owe us anything and none of this was her fault. I hope one day we can get an interview that comes from a point of empathy and compassion
Good point. And you’re right. In our head as society - we wanted to watch this to hear her explain her actions and to plainly take responsibility and answer WHY. I am not saying that was my mind frame or yours, but the general census at the time and even the interviewee. You can tell he’s trying to get what he can but in a respectful way.
She’s strong tho. Many people in her position would have made every excuse in the world. She wouldn’t even be labeled a victim and in many ways she was. And I’m NOT saying these things in a complaining way (in regards to her performances, energy, personality etc). It’s totally from a place of concern, empathy, and love I have for her. It was a sad era. A sad time. I’m happy to see changes coming about but it’s slowly unfolding. It seems slow at times but other times I look back at interviews and different clips from the early to mid 2000s and see things that’s outrageous and would never happen today. Britney was in many interviews that was highly disrespectful and alarming. From old perverts flirting with a teenage girl about her sexuality on national television to humiliating her as an “entertainment” factor but in reality they would bully her and attempt to delegitimize her. To other things like massive crowds of paparazzi hounding her and taking pictures of her privates and it ending up online and everywhere else. The paparazzi responsible for that in todays world would be blasted and possibly criminally charged. It wouldn’t fly but back then the Internet comments shamed and blamed her for the shot and nowhere was anybody else mentioned. It was criminal. We encouraged bullying and made jokes out of the people we built up - specifically females - and it’s crazy to think what was allowed. The late night jokes would go hard and say things that would get them off air today. So in many ways a lot has changed in such a short time but it took so much abuse by people like Britney before that happened.
Britney will for sure be a face for change in the industry - and has been.

I always am reminded of Girl interrupted when I see this. Why did Britney have to be diagnosed as crazy? She was just a woman who wanted to live her life on her terms. She was spontaneous and original, but she couldn’t be brilliant without flaws, the media and her family/ team took care of the latter and the public would have rather believe the most salacious stories about her, rather than the brilliance and talent behind the name. This special was the last time we saw Britney before the conservatorship eventually consumed her and forced her into a dark period that she may never be able to leave behind. While Britney is free, I sincerely hope she finds happiness wherever she can and is able to enjoy her life as she sees fit, as she’s truly earned it…💕💕💕
She had postnatal depression because she had 2 babies back to back there was no justification for it. It was always about money that's why she was working within the first few months of the conservatorship doing How I met your mother, then doing this documentary, album and tour and then to break into her trust she had set up. The funniest thing is with all that money they couldn't get 2 doctors to sign off on her been as bad as they claimed. The judge even without those signatures which are meant to signed btw made it easy for her team to continue the conservatorship that's the corruption right there.
Now if it was about her wellbeing and not money why was she working so fast she should have had a break for at least 2 or 3 years.

This was her last real interview until June of 2021 when she told the world how abusive her conservatorship was. I think at this point she was still under the impression that the conservatorship was temporary and it would dissolve by the start of 2009, when it fact it was made permanent. I feel bad for this woman, as she's clearly telling the world through this interview that she's a hostage and how bad people are still taking advantaged of her. But the world only wanted to hear her apologize for her meltdown. Sad world we live in. I don't think she'll ever truly heal from this, but hopefully she manages to find happiness. I wouldn't be able to trust my own children after going through what she went through.

I know :) I feel so bad I didn't see how smart Britney was back in the day. I mean, she may not have studied far in a formal way but she's clearly very intuitive, self-aware and sees what's going on around her :) She also had some writing ability, teaming up and co-writing a lot of her music and coming up with the concepts for a lot of her videos. Remembering all her dance moves and lyrics for shows and stuff alone would actually probably stump most of us :)

Her life was already heavily controlled at this point. If you watch the full documentary you’ll see her father and managers in meetings discussing her when she isnt there, and in the bonus material they surprise her with her own car. They let her go for a drive in her own car, which she wasnt and still isnt allowed to do without permission. I think they put her on more medications since this which is why she acts so weird some times, but controlwise it seems to be pretty much the same.

I've always loved Britney. As I was growing up I admired her for her strength, smile, and positivity. But as I've gotten older and I look back at her interviews my heart just breaks for her. She's smiling and positive in them, but I think underneath her smile is a lot of pain and suppressed emotion. I wish she would of just allowed that emotion to come out more, even when it wasn't good stuff. Because faking a smile and acting like everything is ok is very damaging and only makes things worse.

She was dropping so many clues. She knew she couldn't out right explain it otherwise they wouldn't of released it, so she used metaphors and euphemisms. Jail? Conservatorship. Beautiful part and the cruelest part? When her life belonged to her, before she was told how many times she could have Sushi or when she could buy a pair of shoes. She did clearly express the doctors and lawyers but only briefly, expressing how she would feel liberated if she were free from that...but it was part of her jail. I could list so many more clues that she dropped in this documentary. But everyone thought she was getting help and that she needed it and no one had any idea about the Cship. That awful thing never should have been put in place but honestly since it was, it should have been terminated after the Circus era, she got back on track, made an album, went on a tour. How can a judge look at that and say she still needed one? Then they tried to erase it from history, too bad for them, I bought the DVD on amazon before things really got heated, I know there are other used versions of the DVD out there, that was their biggest mistake and it stamped everything she said in history.
I believe in the beginning everyone was seeing the situation objectively to resolve the matter and help.

As the years go on, the life behind her eyes start to slowly fade. You can see how the medication they forced her to take, start to slow her down. Its truly heartbreaking to see this amazingly sweet, talented, beautiful woman, turn into an empty shell of the person she once was. She was opened, honest, and very articulated and knew exactly what had happened and what was happening, I watched the full documentary and couldn't believe how sweet and beautiful she is. What happened after was greed, bullying and silencing a powerful young artist for their own benefit, She once said her biggest fear was that her family would take it all away. This has NEVER been so relevant than now. Girl has been crying out for help the best she knows possible from the beginning of this thing. Truly remarkable how the conservatorship was decided in under 15 minutes with her not even present for it and held for more than a decade after. The only reason they were allowed to pass it so quickly in the way that they did was because it was a “temporary”conservatorship; therefore it remains indefinitely. For as long as they want it.
Another thing that’s remarkable is that it was the fans that freed her ultimately. The free Britney movement and her few outspoken supporters who had a platform, while those closest in her life who supposedly loved her the most were the most absent. Those who were close to her at the time that it was placed that ARE NOT today bailed on her because her team and her father threatened them and cut everybody off.
But I will say one thing; if this were my sister I would’ve been her main supporter and I would’ve been doing the media rounds getting the word out in support of her from the start.
What surprises me is that it started with something as simple as a fan comment telling her to wear a yellow shirt in her next post if she needed help and sure enough, she did. She knew the fans were finally becoming concerned and when she was given a definite way to confirm it, she took the opportunity and wore that yellow shirt.
