The Great Western Steam Up was a special event put on by the Nevada State Railroad Museum in Carson City, Nevada. This event took place from July 1-July 4, 2022, and featured not only classic 1800's era steam locomotives, but also other antique equipment.
The event was organized to celebrate the 150th Anniversary of the completion of Nevada's famous Virginia & Truckee Railroad, and delivered an amazing spectacle that any railroad or history buff could appreciate!
This program is told by attendees and also presents a unique look at some of the equipment and people who own and operate these amazing machines. You'll hear from Dan Markoff, Stathi Pappas, Dave Mull, Les Wilmunder, Chris Baldo, John Christensen, and others as they talk about what it takes to restore and operate antique steam locomotives that are over a hundred years old.

Every time I go see my Mom and Sister in Carson City.....I always drop by the Museum. Bob
I am so happy I got to go. I stayed till my tummy told me to go. Was there from 9 am till almost 7 at night. When it happens again I’ll be there
Best railroad event I ever visited! I wished I stay longer but I was happy to see 18, Glenbrook, Eureka, Inyo, & the Chiggen! I always see those engines online but I never thought I would see them in person!
thank you for anther wonderful video
So awesome to see the Tahoe Twins in action together
Thank you for another brilliant video
5:17 Tom Gray interview nice! Go V&T! Nice job with all the interviews, many videos don't do that.
It was a great event. You vid is interesting in seeing all the people who have a very personal stake in railroading. We come down from Sparks to the NSRM every few months and I'm glad we didn't miss this.
It was a great event for sure!
It's nice to see all those V&T engines together again. It's also nice to the alternate angle of number 12 as well as seeing her in the sun.
I only found out about the Great Western Steam up the day after it happened, Im REALLY sad I missed it. I was surprised that the V&T finally got Reno back from Old Tucson. Really wish I could have made it out to Carson
Thanks so much for putting this together! Let alone having all these engines fired up in one place, it was such an important showcase of Nevada and California history. (I’d love to go to the next one)
Awesome...thanks for sharing✌🤓🤠😎
