AGM is a official title by FIDE. So if you have the chance to play OTB, in the tournament recognizes this title.

I played long ago, obtained the "AIM" Title. I didn't realize that you have to buy it now. I am wondering if it is worth rejoining? There doesn't seem to be many players on the platform. It is a shame, because online chess is the present and future, who has time to play in OTB tournaments anymore? I was hoping that the online rating and the OTB rating would be combined.
Hey, thanks for the comment! Personally, I got my AIM title in 2015 and my AGM title in 2016 but I paid for them. I assume the difference is if you pay for them, it shows next to your name on your FIDE profile and your name on chess-results if you play in a tournament. If you just ''obtain'' the title but don't pay for it, it won't show, you will have just met the criteria for the title. You can check if it shows next to your FIDE profile. Personally, I would be very surprised if it does and you didn't pay for it.
I totally agree there are not many players on the platform and you will have to wait for a long time to get a game when making a challenge. I would recommend just play on lichess, chess24, chess.com, or any other website of your preference, free of charge. Personally, I missed OTB tournaments very much and am already grateful I played at two since covid and looking forward to playing in as many as possible in the future. But I agree playing online is much more practical, with no travel and accommodation costs. Of course, there are issues like cheating, mouse slips, disconnections. Also, there is no human interaction.
Hi, I got 2200 in bullet and 2100 in blitz in 2016 year. I could buy AGM at once, but decided not to do it. But recently, like 5 days ago approx I have fulfilled the requirement again to gain AGM title.
But now I have 1937 in bullet and 2043 in blitz respectively. I think some people do cheat there. In 2016 it was way easier to farm rating.
And I remember that I did play on premiumchess software, not the webpage like now.
Hi Filip and thank you for your comment. Unfortunately, the last time I played on the FIDE Online Arena was back in 2017. Congratulations on fulfilling the AGM title requirements again. In this case, it is irrelevant if you dropped to 1937 in bullet. I cannot comment on comparing rating from 2016 to now. But I remember playing on Premium Chess back then!
I've started documenting my journey to Arena Candidate Master on my channel. I know the title doesn't mean much to a lot of the chess community, but I like having a goal to work towards other than just increasing a rating.

Hello Nicolas: I’ve just paid and registered at the FIDE arena. I was told that I will get a FIDE ID number after paying that 25 euros .Where can I find my assigned FIDE ID number ? Is there a website I can search my name with that assigned FIDE ID number ? Thanks
Hello! Thank you very much for your comment! Excellent, welcome to the FIDE Arena. I am no longer playing there myself. Type into Google your full name and then fide so for me it would be ''Nicolas Skettos fide'' and your profile will come up. Mine is here: ratings.fide.com/profile/5900670 and the last digits at the end are my FIDE ID number so for me it is 5900670. If you know your number you can search it, by just typing the same link and changing the number at the end. I hope this helps but let me know if you need any further help!
@Nicolas Skatte Hey, man! Great video! I am recently registered in the online FIDE arena and have got my FIDE ID. But, however in the FIDE website, it shows that I do not have license. So, do you know how to resolve this? Also, how do we know if we are eligible for the ACM or AFM title? Will there be an option in the app explicitly stating that to obtain the title? Hey man! Thanks for the comment and the kind words! The fact that you registered in the online FIDE arena means you can play there. If you choose to pay, then you get an official FIDE Online arena rating, if you don´t you get an unofficial one. On the FIDE website, it shows you don´t have a license to play OVER THE BOARD tournaments, that is the difference. You need to register with some federation. Which country do you live in? Which country do you want to represent? You need to contact that country's federation to register under it so you are licensed to play over the board as well. For ACM, you need to become a member and then reach 1100 and play 150 bullet games, or 100 blitz games, or 50 rapid games where you are over 1100. For AFM it is 1400. If let's say you are going for ACM and you drop to 1099, the countdown starts again from when you are at least 1100. I have never used any app, I always played from my computer in the FIDE Online Arena but the last time was in 2017 so things might have changed. They will let you know you are eligible for the title. Then you pay the money and get the title. If you don't pay the money you don't get the title. The title will show next to your FIDE profile. This procedure though might take some time, it won't be immediately.

So, the games we have to maintain above 1400 or 1700 should be like a streak? If we fall below 1400 on the 150th game then it will restart the countdown, is that of this format?

@@ujwal1354 Yes it needs to be a streak! Maybe if you are I don't know 1710 play someone higher rated in the last game where even if you lose you lose only 9 points so you are 1701. Thank you and all the best to you too! Are you aiming to become an AGM? Which is your goal?
Hey, Nicholas! The license issue is sorted! I am aiming for AGM in a year, if not atleast AIM, By the way yesterday I became an ACM and today to my surprise I have attained the AFM title, yet to pay the fee though to claim the title. But, my ultimate goal in Chess would be attaining the IM title. Will try for it with my best of the training!
@@ujwal1354 Brilliant news mate! And huge congratulations! I became an AFM immediately in a few days, then AIM quickly as well, but AGM took me a bit less than a year. My goal in chess is to cross 2000 fide rating, so far I am 1943, my highest 1979! Happy to play blitz one day on some other free website, like lichess! I feel like playing chess at FIDE Online Arena now is way more difficult, many of them are underrated, and I'm trying to get AGM title at the moment. And also I don't understand about "buying" Arena title. Does it mean that you can get AGM title just by paying without meeting the requirement?
No you can’t. You need to meet the requirements to get the title. Regarding people being underrated the ratings used on FIDE Online Arena are based on real fide ratings for rapid and blitz, that’s how people start. And a lot of people got an increase both in March 2024 and also in October 2022. Personally I haven’t played there for a while though so don’t know how underrated people are there. Certainly AGM is a hard title to get!

I think so but it will be unlicensed. You will need to register under a federation. Depends where you are from and which country you live in. Thanks for the comment and good luck!

Hello and thanks for the comment! Yes, on your FIDE profile 100% where it says Online Arena. For lichess, unfortunately they don''t accept online titles, neither chess.com, but you can write it yourself in your bio. It should also show on chess-results though, many times it showed for me but not always! I am an AGM :)

Καλησπερα, οχι δε χρειαζεται. Πληρωνεις μονο το αντιστοιχο ποσο για να παρεις τον τιτλο και για να παιζεις μεχρι να τον παρεις. Μετα, εσυ κρινεις αν θες να συνεχισεις τη συνδρομη αφου παρεις τον τιτλο τα επομενα χρονια. Ο τιτλος θα σου σταλει μεσω email και θα φαινεται στο δελτιο σου στη FIDE και διπλα απο το ονομα σου στο chess-results, ειτε πληρωνεις καθε χρονο συνδρομη ειτε οχι.

Hey and thanks for the comment. I assume you mean about ACM. Yes, you are as long as you stay at or over 1100 for 50 rapid games, 100 blitz games or 150 bullet games. And you pay the fee of 5 euros too.
