Indians have an unhealthy attachment to their family. Not Love, not care, not compassion, not respect. But attachment. Unhealthy at that! Also, possessiveness. There's another word - independence (or lack of). I have always wished the lives of my parents don't revolve around me (it does though sadly). That's the point of this video I think. And you've done a marvelous job at that. I'd wish to see more sketches like this one.

It's excess love, excess care, excess compassion, blind respect, excess possessivness, Which is unhealthy! Agree.
Yes their lives majorly revolves around their child and that's why it's the responsibility of the child after growing up to make them understand that too much is not healthy and give them assurity of your wellbeing which is their only concern as a parent.
You too will have the same least concern tomorrow, when you become a parent. Your ways and means might be different. But the basic idea will always remain same, which is but Natural.
So take the case as it is and find the best possible solution in whatever scenario that you have.
If you know your case is emotional, excessive attached family setup your approach should also be similar to deal with it.
Here, We are the ones who should make them realise, that the way they always wished us to have the best in our childhood, similarly we too after growing up and becoming independent, wish to see the same for them, where they are happy, enjoying and are able to have the best that they possibly could have!
'I too care' is what they would love to hear some day from you. That's it. ☺️
I really hope you have a very good measuring machine in which you measure the love you ought to give to an individual. Honestly, I would personally love to have so i can avoid the inconvenience and i guess most mothers feel that way. You may be like " oh this much is unhealthy, this much attachment becomes gross...? Minus minus minus"
You're right, its deep rooted in our culture. If you don't love your parents you're ungrateful, its like that especially for boys, girls are made to grow up early and too fast while ma will set out everything for her son, his clothes, his food basically forever . This is why most men remain like children all throughout their lives. Like they aren't given the opportunity to be independent and learn how to care for themselves, so they expect everything to be done for them, its really sad actually

My mom is awesome then! She says the right amount. Sometimes I feel like extending the talk. Since she knows I lead a busy life, she avoids calling me for a few days till I miss her naturally and call her myself so that neither I am disturbed nor is our conversation ever monotonous :)
And if something eventful happens, naturally I call mom immediately!

Coz the entire point was that my mom realises that I can’t talk during work and meetings and instead of nagging and pestering me, she gives me space when I need it and calls me the second I need her. That’s the definition of knowing my needs. And anyway I call her myself once everyday and sometimes if I m busy then she understands and leaves me to my work for a few hours or 2-3 days as per need until I tell her I m free now. Also she doesn’t ask boring repetitive questions everyday, each of our conversations are lively and are filled with laughter the way you would expect when you talk to a bestie.

I'd have liked this video if I had stayed at home all my life. But in reality, I don't stay at home and the only person who calls me everyday is my mom. And i don't mind listening to her stories because I'm a big part of her life and listening to her is the least thing I can do for her. I'm sure many people would agree with me.
even though I liked the video because sometimes my mum does end up telling stories from her office about people I don't even know, I agree with the not minding part. She's the only one who cares enough to message me everyday and ask me about my day and living alone in a foreign country, that means a lot :)

I loved the video and my relationship with my mother is exactly the same and I love it because the way she irritates to me is something which can be discussed with my friends or made into a sketch(like biswa did) and be laughed about.
And the love, care and respect I have for her is something that is at a different place and expressing about these things wont make a comedy video. Biswa just wanted to show the funny part of this love-hate relationship with our mothers.
This was pretty funny and i did like it, it just needed to be edited better really, especially the ending. For a first attempt this was a great sketch!

This video is bang on and addressing the problem head on. Staying in hostel for 20 years and seeing friends this is so true and irritating to an extent when there is no emotional filter. For son, it is named as to keep him in check and for daughter, safety..The reason for so many calls..But none of that works, may work in the contrary though. It's definitely unhealthy in India when moms had nothing to do except keep 24/7 thinking of their child.
