I’ve been searching the internet for a fix to that terrible face and you not only delivered but knocked it out of the park. I was going to do a fix using other pieces in my collection, but I love how you pulled the pieces from the model so no extra pieces are necessary. Well done!
Jason, that´s really great, that you not only suggest a modification, but you also go the extra mile of making it possible with the parts included in the set. No job offers by LEGO yet? Shame on them...
Ra Lu 1:08...although God and man have toiled and tried, it is incident who has finally faced triumph, is it not?..] : [lol! My eyes ooze "Oooohs" at the side of it.
Brilliant adjustment! And the fact that you show how to build the modification from extra pieces and rebuilt bits of the model is simply incredible! Well done as always. 👏
I actually like the shield piece, I think it's an interesting use of the part and I don't mind the minimalist approach they took, and it's good to have the shiled piece in that color (is it sand green?) That being said, I really like your mod as well, although I agree the chin looks quite masculine afterwards. The point of the shield gives the face a daintier look and I think that's why they've decided to go that route ultimately. I really like the rest of the modifications you've made to the statue, and the face definitely doesn't look bad, but it looks like a face of a Greek god more than it looks like the face of the statue of liberty. Edit: actually, I take that back. Just went and looked at some photos and she does have a square chin, and very prominent nose and brow, so your mod is definitely an improvement in terms of realism, I seem to have idealised her face in my mind's eye. Goes to show human memory is not as reliable as many people think. XD
The best part about this modification video is that you show us how to repurpose the existing set parts. Not just telling us to go get them somewhere. Thanks for that!
Nice work - I felt that the original shield face piece let down what was otherwise superbly detailed model - very cool how you've managed to limited the update to the pieces available in the model
No entiendo Inglés, pero lo que entiendo es que el modelo original no tiene cara, y el señor del vídeo hizo una "recomposición" de algunas piezas y construyó la cara. ¡es una pasada! Este señor es muy inteligente.
Absolutely brilliant. I'm so glad someone figured out a workaround for that, and an elegant one at that. No Bricklink orders. The blank face just wasn't cutting it for me. I still haven't purchased this set yet, but when I do, I using this mod. :]
Great option, JK. I would consider these to be solid improvements. Having seen the real statue up close and in person, I can say that the actual face is quite noticeably masculine. It's not a negative thing. Regarding this, one of the tour guides told me "We get that a lot". To each his own- that's the beauty of life as well as Lego
once again you've proved your genius.... the fact you thought this out and executed it without adding any parts is mind-boggling. You fixed the 2 things wrong with the set....the face and the neck.
Nice! I was kind of on the fence about getting this set because of how oddly undefined the face was on such an otherwise detailed representation. Might just get it now and build with these mods! Thanks for such a detailed fix!
This is a good fix, but, I wasn't happy with the squared face. An option I chose was to take the two 1 X 2 sloped pieces that are left over for this fix and create a chin. Just remove the lower 1 X 2 piece and replace with the other two. It's not perfect, but , offers a different look.
hey JK Brickworks. Thank you so much for this, that face put me of buying this as I don't MOC at all but I am going to get it now. I cant believe Lego didn't come up with that instead of that stupid shield part. Big thumbs up.
This is amazing! Thanks for going through the steps to fix the face, and I love that all the pieces used are just slight changes within the model itself!
Thank you for the modification. The flat plate on the face looked very plain. This model sits in my classroom and one of my students sent me this link because he is familiar with your work.
I didn't like the look of the face - but I wanted this set. Your video convinced me to go ahead and buy it - I just put it together and modified it according to your excellent instructions. Thanks!
Great modifications; I definitely prefer a face to a shield, and I TOTALLY agree that the neck looks weirdly long. Why didn’t they just use a round brick for a nice smooth look instead of all those round plates, anyway?? Oof.
Oh, this was EXCELLENT! And so easy to follow along! Thank you very much for sharing. I had so much fun making this set for my mom, and she loves your new face much more than the shield face. Thx!
Thanks so much for these instructions! I heard about this back when you first posted it, and decided to try it myself after I finally built the set. Was very surprised that you did this just using the pieces already on the module as well as the spare parts in the set. Great work!
How clever are YOU!!!!! Its a pity the folk at lego could not come up with the same result, after all, their only asking folk to shell out £80 for the set. I like the set but over the last couple of years, I have come to the conclusion lego just take the proverbial asking silly money for half hearted sets. Your hack as simple as it is completely changes the set for the better and gives liberty her much needed identity. Pity the folk at lego could not show her or its fans the same respect you have! Weldone you!
This is amazing, it looks better in my opinion and not only that but the fact that you expertly pulled hte parts out of other parts of the model is so awesome. XD
I really like this mod, and I'm seriously considering buying the set now. Using the shield piece for a face was a terrible idea by LEGO because it does not flow with the rest of the design. They put in a lot of effort to shape her dress using various pieces, mimicking the highlights and shadowed areas of the real statue, only to put a flat tile on her face. Nice job.
thanks for showing this modification to improve the face. I had been hesitant to purchase the kit because I didn't like the blank face, but once I saw your fix I bought it. Just finished building, with your customization. thanks again!
That was a great workaround! That blank face plate is the only reason I haven't bought this set. Someone could make a small fortune selling printed faces on the shield piece if they have the means. I've thought about just painting a face on it.
Thank you for this video. It's helped me a lot to modify the face. The statue looks better like this. I don't understand why Lego didn't do it like this...
This is absolutely fantastic I just stumbled upon this video I am about to purchase this set and I am definitely going to do this thank you so much and you have just earned a new subscriber!
Many thanks for your help to improve the aspect of that wonderfull set. I have done the modification on my model, it's a great addition. I love your channel, always impressed by your models. Best regards from France. Jef
Wow! This looks soo much better. Don't know what Lego thought with this "face"... But how about using a 2x2 plus the half disk with a hole (don't really know how i should describe the part😅) instead of the 2x3 for the face to get a round chin?
I still kind of prefer the original for the same reasons you stated earlier. But overall, I think your solution and LEGO's original definitely demonstrate what LEGO art is about.
I completely agree. Some people like it, some people don't, just like certain pieces of art. I'm just trying to show people that you don't necessarily have to follow the instructions.
Just did this excellent mod! To soften up her face, take the third jumper and instead of putting it behind that lower grill put it behind the eyes. Much more feminine. Her eyes then become her brow and her eyes are then represented by, and hidden in, the slight shadow under her brow and next to her nose much like in real life. Give it a try.
I think he means: 1) Remove the "forehead" slope at the top, 2) put the third jumper plate onto the 2x3 plate where the slope was, and then 3) place the 2x1 slope on top of it.
I just got around to buying the Statue of Liberty set and hated the face. I came across your video on RUclips. Used your suggestions and now I love it. Thanks for that. I'm following your channel.
I always thought the neck was too long. Every time I considered buying the set I was turned off because of it. Now with the facelift I think the proportions are better. Thank you!
I’ve been searching the internet for a fix to that terrible face and you not only delivered but knocked it out of the park. I was going to do a fix using other pieces in my collection, but I love how you pulled the pieces from the model so no extra pieces are necessary. Well done!
brickitect I agree on how he decided of only using piece’s from the model
Oh hey there Greg!
Agreed
Hi brickitect!!!
You built it!
Jason, that´s really great, that you not only suggest a modification, but you also go the extra mile of making it possible with the parts included in the set. No job offers by LEGO yet? Shame on them...
Jason is too good to work at Lego. I mean, he IMPROVES the original Legos... Dude is amazing
Good lego doesn’t need these horrible mods
King of Stopmotion You okay?
My opinion? Leave the 1x1 tile off the face so it looks like the statue is going "OOOOOOOOH"
Ra Lu 1:08...although God and man have toiled and tried, it is incident who has finally faced triumph, is it not?..] : [lol! My eyes ooze
"Oooohs" at the side of it.
O_O
Who lives in a pineapple under the sea
@@supaplayer Spongbob, Right? (LoL) : )
JKLM Gaming Yeah lol
1:09 I like that face
It actually doesn't look that bad. Lol.
Brilliant adjustment! And the fact that you show how to build the modification from extra pieces and rebuilt bits of the model is simply incredible! Well done as always. 👏
I actually like the shield piece, I think it's an interesting use of the part and I don't mind the minimalist approach they took, and it's good to have the shiled piece in that color (is it sand green?)

I read all of that thinking that you were right, then read the last part and started laughing. I love Great opinions like these!
@Petr Stuchlý with mine i did a 2x2 with the weird 2x1 flat pieces with the corner off at the bottom, with a 1x2 sloped piece for the eyebrows
The best part about this modification video is that you show us how to repurpose the existing set parts. Not just telling us to go get them somewhere. Thanks for that!
That’s so much better with the new face
No it looks bad
In my opinion old face was better.
Question of taste. It looks like easter island statue. I would not call it a better but a nice alternative.
It’s way too masculine lol but maybe thats what u like about it..
In my opinion it makes her face look too much like one of those easter island statues
Crashper’s Donut shop Moai
Yesss
🗿🗿🗿
That was my first thought. Still looks better than default face IMO.
Nice work - I felt that the original shield face piece let down what was otherwise superbly detailed model - very cool how you've managed to limited the update to the pieces available in the model
Wow, perfect! That face has bugged me enough that I was not all that interested in getting this. Now I will be getting it for sure!
You should really do more of these... this one was fascinating to me!
Held der Steine Inh. Thomas Panke brought me here :)
That's pretty cool you were able to add the face just by moving some of the parts around without sacrificing the rest of the design.
Now we just have to think of how to get 4 Ghostbusters and an NES advantage controller in there...
Good reference!
Ghostbusters 2 reference :)
That would be really cool.... LEGO - GO FIX !!!
d J. Yeah
And now, on the request line from Liberty Island,...we're gonna suck some New Years juice from ya Big Apple!
Thanks for this tip Jason! My wife received this for her birthday. My daughters really enjoy your book and ball maze sets.

Looks like the moai on easter island
welldoboy you know what? I can totally see it! You're right!
🗿
I like your face and modifications much better. The statue has such an iconic face, why not try to represent it? Very well done!
I'm immediately doing this. Haven't even opened mine yet lol
What? Where did you get the pieces he used?
once again you've proved your genius.... the fact you thought this out and executed it without adding any parts is mind-boggling. You fixed the 2 things wrong with the set....the face and the neck.

Thank you! I got the set as a gift, and that face is the first thing I noticed. It’s just so off. This makes it so much better.
Thanks for the great detailed fix Jason. Easy to follow and only minor concessions. Like you said gotta be some.
Just done this with my model.....HUGE difference! Many thanks!!!
Whoa! What a great addition. Looks way better.
Oh ! sand green pieces are lovely !
I really appreciate your face lift solution Jason ^^
hey JK Brickworks. Thank you so much for this, that face put me of buying this as I don't MOC at all but I am going to get it now. I cant believe Lego didn't come up with that instead of that stupid shield part. Big thumbs up.
Ok this is SO COOL! I added it to my statue of liberta and it looks so much better now! Thanks for the tutorial!
thank you for this, just did it and looks a lot better, don't know what lego was thinking by putting a face like that
This is amazing! Thanks for going through the steps to fix the face, and I love that all the pieces used are just slight changes within the model itself!
The new face is way better! Love it!
Much better than the blank mask! Thanks for sharing!
i like it the way you did it mate it make it feel more real
It’s not perfect. But I feel it’s a definite improvement. Great that you don’t have to buy extra pieces too!
This is so creative! A super idea to use parts from the actual model by moving them around!! Keep up the good work!
That is seriously beautiful how well you managed to get that to work.
That answered my question about the face. The original way of the face just did not look right. With your change it looks awesome.
This is much better- I had a problem with the shield face as well.
Nice replacement but the only thing would be annoying is the masculin look
Dani5000 look it up, the real one looks pretty musculine too
Björn Blümchen it's creativity ;D
Björn Blümchen the jawline
The real statue of liberty is not feminine looking at all
Maybe she's trans
Great mod - looks much better and to be able to do it with the spares (given the price of green sand pieces) is a real bonus. Thanks.
Thanks!
Wayy better! Excellent work. I was on the fence because of the boring face. Now I can get this set!

I actually used this today I never knew when I was going to use it but now it was today
Wow that looks a lot like better than the original face!
Your Videos are great! Keep it:-)
I like your videos 😊👍🏼
How clever are YOU!!!!!

Genius solution. Looks great thank you for sharing.
This is amazing, it looks better in my opinion and not only that but the fact that you expertly pulled hte parts out of other parts of the model is so awesome. XD
Perfect! Now I consider buying the set for I was not before that brilliant fix.
I like the new face.like,it has so much more detail and the old one makes it so the rest except the face is detailed
Small interception, but big result, you did it very well, Thanks😉
I really like this mod, and I'm seriously considering buying the set now.
Using the shield piece for a face was a terrible idea by LEGO because it does not flow with the rest of the design. They put in a lot of effort to shape her dress using various pieces, mimicking the highlights and shadowed areas of the real statue, only to put a flat tile on her face. Nice job.
You’re a legend that’s so much betttter!!!!!
thanks for showing this modification to improve the face. I had been hesitant to purchase the kit because I didn't like the blank face, but once I saw your fix I bought it. Just finished building, with your customization. thanks again!
Thanks for this great mod which I definitely prefer over the original, creepy blank shield solution!
That was a great workaround! That blank face plate is the only reason I haven't bought this set. Someone could make a small fortune selling printed faces on the shield piece if they have the means. I've thought about just painting a face on it.
Amazing and super cost efficient improvement
Thank you for this video. It's helped me a lot to modify the face. The statue looks better like this. I don't understand why Lego didn't do it like this...
Much better, thank you for this improvement, thank you, thank you, thank you !!!
1:08 that's what it should look like
Spot on, huge improvement.
Nice! I did your tutorial it it looks really good. Great job!
This is absolutely fantastic I just stumbled upon this video I am about to purchase this set and I am definitely going to do this thank you so much and you have just earned a new subscriber!
This is so creative! Very nice to rebuild by moving around parts! Keep it up!!
Looks awesome, clever how you used the parts of the figure and it still looks complete, genius 😁👍😁
i personally find the shield plate pretty perfect, but the face you made is nice too...
Thanks for the video. It cost me 99 Euro today, but with the new face it‘s absolutely worth buying
Omg... very nice!
Great upgrade! Your channel is one of the most interesting one,I love your original designs!
Many thanks for your help to improve the aspect of that wonderfull set. I have done the modification on my model, it's a great addition. I love your channel, always impressed by your models.
Best regards from France.
Jef
Thank you so much. It was so so easy, and it is so much better now! 🤩
This dude is pretty smart with this
Sieht richtig gut aus. Vielen Dank für dieses Video.
This is a great tip. Thank you very much you just saved my masterpiece.
So much better. Lego was lazy with the face. Deal breaker for me. And with this facelift, you just made me want to get this now.
Oh I was just thinking this morning : why to do her face flat without any detail !! Way better ‘’with’’ a face :D
That is great , a good way of only using piece from the model
Now i am think to buy the set. The Face is now living. How does it Look like, when you turn the tile with the eyebrows? Good idea
Wow! This looks soo much better. Don't know what Lego thought with this "face"... But how about using a 2x2 plus the half disk with a hole (don't really know how i should describe the part😅) instead of the 2x3 for the face to get a round chin?

I completely agree. Some people like it, some people don't, just like certain pieces of art. I'm just trying to show people that you don't necessarily have to follow the instructions.
Well said. Definitely agree with you on that, and I hope other LEGO fans would be inspired the same way.
Very nicely done!
This is pretty cool man
Very creative to limit yourself to the original set's parts!

Can you post a video about it?
I think he means: 1) Remove the "forehead" slope at the top, 2) put the third jumper plate onto the 2x3 plate where the slope was, and then 3) place the 2x1 slope on top of it.

I like your modifications.. I’d rather have something there than just a blank face
With a face it looks much better !
I just got around to buying the Statue of Liberty set and hated the face. I came across your video on RUclips. Used your suggestions and now I love it. Thanks for that. I'm following your channel.
nice mod! I thought the face looked silly, good job :)
I always thought the neck was too long. Every time I considered buying the set I was turned off because of it. Now with the facelift I think the proportions are better. Thank you!
Much better! Thank you for this!
Really nice idea. I think I’m going to use your face
