Thanks for making the video, I could not figure out which way to orient the recess on the bushing and you took the time to point this out in your video.
Could you guys do a video/ show more about that light bar setup? That is totally awesome and I’ve thought of using the Tusk light bar for that. Thanks!
Good morning and thank you for the great video. I guess I got a little carried away when trying to put the seal back in and ended up damaging the case. My question.. Does the seal ride along a race that can be replaced or did I damage the actual case? Either way I can’t find the race or information about it. (2004 KTM 250sx)
Have you ever done this on a banshee? Is it similar to this? Have on leaking and i believe its coming from behind sprocket I’m also going to replace shift shaft seal when doing it
Interesting that you say that. Got home this afternoon and oil was pissing out of ky sprocket. Opened it up and the seal somehow pulled in front of the snap ring and now I'm figuring out how to get the seal out without speciality tools. 😅
Hi, thanks for this video, excellent as always. I have a 99 KX250, says there's two o-rings, where does the other one go? do i just slide the other one after the first one that's in that groove? I cant seem to find any information even in the service manual. thanks
If you still get a leak after replacing the seal and you have to use the bigger O-Ring, can you take the old O-ring off and put the new one on without taking the seal off?
The sprocket bolts break all the time it’s bull red lock tight with a junk metal bolt and if your lucky enough to get it out you should use a new bolt it will come with red lock tight on it brush it off and use blue so it comes off easier next time I wish I had the nut like yours does instead of the bolt
Its not necessary, you'll probably have a little more oil come out while doing this job if its not drained. You can also lean the bike over a bit when you're changing it and you shouldn't lose very much oil that way either. Thanks for watching!
Instead of using the Motion pro seal remover, will the Tusk bearing remover kit work instead? I already have that kit and won’t want to buy the Motion Pro if I don’t have to. Thanks!
Might be a dumb question but if I had a bad seal, would the sprocket have to be spinning in order to leak? I’ve whipped everything down and let the bike idle for a while and it’s dry as a whistle, do you think I’m good to go?
Super helpful video. My only advice though is to never buy an aftermarket o-ring. Buy the OEM o-ring from the bike Mfr. It'll save the hassle of repeating the process. It's just not worth trying to 'figure out' the right o-ring dimensions on aftermarket.
Make sure you have the correct seal by matching it up with the old seal. Once you've done that, grease the inside and outside of the seal and try using a bit of heat on the case where the seal will go. Also, check that your socket you're using to drive in the seal is sized properly and isn't hitting on the countershaft or the case.
My dirt bike has an oil leak from near the front sprocket, however it is engine oil leaking out of it. Is it still the countershaft seal? Bike is a 2007 crf450r.
lol that is a big misconception on these bikes. the "Transmission oil" is in reality engine oil. there isnt a seperate pan for it like in cars. it is all the same. if it has oil coming out. it is your countershaft seal.
I hope you read this, on my 07 KX 450F the collar that slips over the shaft is absolutely frozen on the shaft, will not even budge I tried everything tapping it in all directions trying to loosen it up, it’s stuck Any Suggestions, thanks for your time, Will.
Removing that seal is really difficult without the puller. There has been ways people removed it by using a screw just smaller than gasket. Screwing it in and being careful not to damage anything else or go to far. Others use screwdrivers, again that is going to be a little difficult but can be done.
You will want to check the OEM parts for the correct countershaft seal. Here's a link to the Yamaha OEM parts finder: www.rockymountainatvmc.com/oem-parts/Yamaha
We carry the OEM Kawasaki counter shaft o-ring if you check our OEM parts finder. The part number should be 92055-022. Here's a link to our OEM parts: www.rockymountainatvmc.com/oem-parts/Kawasaki
just replaced the seal on mine and noticed the shaft had around an 1/8 inch wiggle room forwards and backwards as well. Seems to be normal and it all tightens up and pulls the shaft all the way out when you install the sprocket and nut back on the end of it.
Not sure what you mean by "all the way" but the seal should be pressed in until it's flush with the outside of the engine case like shown here at 5:30.

I replaced mine with an allballs kit and took advice to grease it all up first. The grease caused it to leak when riding, I had to clean it all off.
Thanks, for the great vid. Im going to do this on my ktm 85 because it leaks.
This will probably not get answered but is the spacer sleeve thing supposed to spin with the countershaft or is it supposed to stay stationary
The spacer will spin with the countershaft.
Really helpful buddy here from london uk
I pushed the countershaft seal in a little past "flush with the case".. will that hurt anything?
Excellent video and great products thanks guys!
As Usual ,GREAT VIDEO, THANKS MAN
when i get the two seals can i just use the thicker seal so i know for sure it won't leak?
all balls recommends this.
thats kinda crazy how its only a snap ring holding on the sprocket. you know the thing that you rely on to move the machine.
Pro trick : you can watch movies at Flixzone. Been using it for watching all kinds of movies these days.

can you use a drill and screw like

*Clayton Hertz* If you have it, it's worth trying. I'm worried the Tusk tool won't clear around the countershaft? That is my concern.
Great video, Never had to do this before on my Honda's, Yamaha's or Suzuki's. This must be a repair very specific to KTM.😬
LOL
Paul Claverie currently doing it on my Honda crf250x😬
My Kawasaki just did it
Mine leaking on my 2004 honda but shes an old girl
@@mrcapsicum739 how did it go mate I got the same bike

*Cameron* Sometimes, yes. Seals aren't too pricey. It's best to simply replace the countershaft shaft seal and clean and inspect your countershaft.
Rocky Mountain ATV MC thank you!
Is it the same procedure on a ktm 50 senior. I have a 2014 leaking quite badly

Counter shaft seal puller.
$44 in America.
$119 in New Zealand. What a joke.
What kind of Slave cylinder is the purple one on this bike? Just wondering if someone besides rekluse is making an adjustable slave cylinder.
That is a slave cylinder guard from Enduro Engineering.
Thank you
Some bikes like the 2011 kx250f u put the sprocket spacer in first
Awesome vid
Awesome video thanks
No problem 👍Thanks for watching!
Is it bad if the seal is pressed all the way in ?
👍👌😎 Excellent! Thanks for sharing
Does it make a noise when it goes bad?
No, you will just notice oil leaking from the countershaft.
My countershaft seal is tough to put on any tips?

Rmx450z seal wouldn't come off with tool just ripped seal and seal is stuck on good. Any ideas how to remove seal? Also rmx450z have 2 oring seals.
Drill a screw in a little bit and pull off with Channels twist and pull

Try using some penetrating oil and let it soak for a while. Then try tapping on it in all directions again.

you can get oem or aftermarket bar pads from rocky mountain.

Rocky Mountain ATV MC I need the whole parts set with the seal and o ring
transmission oil?
What about it?
hi is it necessary to change it
If it isn't leaking, it's not necessary to replace.
Thanks for watching!
It depends on how much it's leaking, I've been letting my going for a while it's rust protection🤣🤣
why you use grease instead of oil?
Manufacturers typically call for grease on seals. I think it lubricates better and longer to help the seal seat to the surface.
Nice
Is it normal for the counter shaft to move forward and back if you know what I mean?
just replaced the seal on mine and noticed the shaft had around an 1/8 inch wiggle room forwards and backwards as well. Seems to be normal and it all tightens up and pulls the shaft all the way out when you install the sprocket and nut back on the end of it.
