Visited Askja in 2019. Highly memorable as being one of the most devastated places I'd ever seen. The ground was made of hollow glass that tapped when you stepped on it, making me afraid of it giving way and trapping me in a hidden tunnel.

Ireland has no active volcanoes. But there is volcanic remnants like someone said here in the comments. Specifically the Giant’s Causeway, which was formed 60 million years ago by molten basalt erupting through beds of chalk and formed a lava lake. As the lava cooled and contracted cracks formed in a hexagonal pattern, and pillars of shape rose out of the ground, giving way to the geological formation we know today.

I Wouldn't be surprised if Askja actually erupted. The Possibility has been deemed likely ever since Eyjafjallajökull erupted in 2010. It's a Matter of Time. The same goes for Katla, Hekla and Grimsvötn.

What I believe is going on is that Iceland in general is becoming more active and this is only going to increase his time progresses it is entering into a phase where it's going to become more active so this is merely just the beginning if the Earth is spinning faster we're going to be seeing more and more fracturing which will ultimately lead to more and more volcanic eruptions that's just speaking on a much more grander scale now theoretically speaking as I realized if large volcanic eruptions happen often enough on a specific side of the planet it would act like a giant Iggy Super rocket which would begin the process of spinning the planet faster but I would think it would take a much more enormous scale of eruption to do that? But this is simply just a theory of mine nothing more

I would love to know your thoughts regarding the impact of the shrinking Polar Ice Caps on the tectonic plate movements? My understanding is, that the crust at the poles will rise without the pressure of the ice. As the pole become higher, then the equator shrinks a little bit. Hence, Island Nations being at serious risk of inundation. Could this effect explain the recent rise in activity in Iceland? Has Canada, Alaska or Russia shown any rise in activity? What knock-on effects could this have for people like myself, who live on a plate boundary with a Super Volcano just the other side of the river?
Thanks for the hard work that you put into these vids.

Btw you're not alone with that YT comments glitchiness. I've experienced comments vaporizing, appearing in a different spot, or inability to edit. In other comment sections, I see people attributing this to censorship, but YT usually lets you know if you've said something the algorithm doesn't like. The algorithms have been glitchier for a few years now. I just really hate it when I've crafted a longer comment only to have it disappear....flashbacks to losing a paper I'd be working on bc I hadn't saved it before a crash. ✌️😸🍀

I drove across to Askja in a Suzuki Rav4 a few years back as part of a road trip across the interior from Reykjavik to Egilsstaðir. I had to cross 23 rivers with no bridge but the gravel roads were easy. I dropped in at Herðubreið, Myvatn and all the usual waterfalls and towns along the north coast. I saw two cars washed off the crossing into deeper water, so choose your vehicle wisely!

It is his real voice. For information:
      1. The whole point of an AI voice is that it is almost impossible to distinguish from the real voice it is designed to emulate, so the comment is nonsense.
      2. The reason GH speaks like this is because he is autistic - he has explained this in his last livestream on the Reykjanes eruption. And in my book getting at someone due to a disability is completely out of order, in fact contemptible.
An intelligent person who had difficulty with the voice would mute the sound and follow the transcript. But I suggest you leave this site and go back under whichever stone in Hell you came from - you will not be missed!
