SIG SAUER P365 AXG LEGION | I'm Having Issues

  • I'm back again with another gun video. This time we're talking specifically about the Sig Sauer P365 AXG Legion. As I go on to explain in the video, my experience shooting this gun has been mixed. I'd first like to acknowledge that this gun is reliable. In the 600 or so rounds that I've shot through this pistol, I have had zero malfunctions. Frankly though, for the price, I expect that to be the case. A gun this expensive should work and be reliable right out of the box. What I have noticed is that I cannot shoot this weapon as accurately or as precisely as my P365 X Macro.
    I believe my lack of accuracy is due to two reasons. First, I'm ovvrgripping the pistol. Secondly, and most important, I am out of time with the gun. I am anticipating the recoil of the weapon too early, and muscling the gun down before I break the shot, causing my shots to go off of my point of aim. Being in time with your gun and resetting the trigger under is critical to ensuring good accuracy and ensuring fast rates of fire. I am still working on developing the proper time synchronization as part of proper recoil management.
    This will not be the last time I talk about this weapon, I will do a full review once I have reached 1000 rounds through the gun. Until then, let me know your thoughts in the comments below. Enjoy.

    I got my axg about 2 weeks ago. In the first 500rounds I had 4-5 malfunctions with cheap/budget ammo. Switched ammo with another 500 in with no problems. Another problem I had from factory, was the irons were to the left. Thought it was me not being used to micros. Added a red dot and shooting has greatly improved.

    Hard rack - My X Macro comp was the same till broken in and will expect no different when take the Legion to the range today. Grip - The grips feel different in my hand meaning, may be some adapting for accuracy by me too.
    Nice too see someone changing a tool and admitting the problem is them, not the tool. Change always means adapting to it. To many are quick to bash the change when the real problem is not adapting to it instead.

    Good day sir,
    I’ve had similar issues with extremely tight tolerances of the mag spring on both my 365 AXG Legion and my 365 Spector comp. So much so I was convinced I had reassembled them incorrectly. But proved not to be the case.
    Removed two rounds from my EDC mag, while leaving the other mags full to compress the spring and alternating the mags through my EDC rotation. This has solved my issue after 7-10 days. Now 1000+ rounds later, both run flawlessly.
    Hope this helps. Least to know, it’s not just you. lol
    Happy shooting!

    I've had mine since April, and I've had the same issues with accuracy from the AXG and to add, I've run into issues with the slide not locking to the rear after emptying a magazine...I put Javelins in both my Icarus Precision/Norrso XL build and my AXG and it helped slightly with slide manipulation, but still pretty stiff on the AXG.

    chambering first round is prevalent in new mags. Load them full, and then cycle them through on the range. Rinse repeat 100x. The spring will loosen up and will still be tough to chamber the first out of 17 rounds. I saw an issue with replacement iron sights loosening due to the cerakote on the slide. Readjusted and added red loctite and saw no more issues. Wait til your slide develops the "rattle". It's annoying but doesn't cause any firing issues. Sig customer service says "it is still within specs". Just unusual for a slide to get that loose at under 1000 rounds fired.

    The obvious answer, to me, you don’t have issues with the Macro with the red dot but you do with the AXG Legion with irons. I see this quite often at the local state range. The two guns are essentially the same gun with small exceptions of the lower metal frame on the Legion. I’m working with a young lady. Can shoot with red dot but irons she’s consistently shooting left. When I have here target focus, she fine. Front site focused, left every time.

      @@WornDownCrown I’ve tried many ways to explain but what seems the easiest is to have the student close their non dominant eye and get on target. They will focus on the front site for sure. Without moving the gun, focus on the target..the front site is still on target even though it may be blurred. Shift between target focus and front site focus. They will quickly see the difference because the eye can only focus on one plane at a time. Now, still focused on the target without moving the gun, open both eyes 👀, by staying focused on the target the front site is still on target. There are RUclips videos and articles about this subject. I worked with an older guy wearing trifocals. His head was going up and down trying to get the best lens aligned. He was getting so frustrated so when I offered to help, he was trilled. I had him take off the glasses and asked if he could see the target clearly (10 yards) to which he responded “yes”. With unloaded gun I had him come up on target (focused) and pull the trigger a few times. Shooting a four inch group at ten yards easily. With practice, he got better and better. As a general comment, people have a tendency to overthink things. You can clearly shoot with your red dot so transition to the irons by using the same concept of looking at the target…instead of a red dot you’ll still see the front site interfering the target. Good luck. I mentioned RUclips, put in “Point Shooting vs iron sites”

    • @WornDownCrown
      @WornDownCrown  20 дней назад

      I’ll absolutely try that. I shoot a Glock 19 with precision HD XR irons from Trijicon and I seem to do okay with that, but I’ll put that technique into practice and see what the results are. I always shoot with both eyes open because that’s how we should do it, but I appreciate you further breaking down the mechanics of it. Hopefully it leads me to interface with the weapon more efficiently.
      Thank you so much for the response.

    What you have there is a 365 AXG Legion which has the X-Macro Comp upper and 3.1" barrel, and an X-Macro TacOps with a 3.7 barrel. I have both the X-Macro Comp and the X-Macro TacOps. Personally I prefer the TacOps version. Have you bench fired the 'Legion yet to confirm point of impact is really that far off? If you have, check your front tight with a calipers. That's a dovetail front sight and could be very slightly drifted off target. Being just a few thousandths off can make a point of impact difference downrange.

    • @WornDownCrown
      @WornDownCrown  Месяц назад

      I posted a follow up video to this one where I shot over 600 more rounds through it and I determined that my accuracy issues were primarily my own fault. I was overgripping the gun, my stance was slightly off, and I was prematurely anticipating the recoil. Addressing these issues directly during training alleviated the problem and my shots started to go back towards the center of the A zone. Next time I'll bench fire it to test that theory as well.

      Imagine watching a video where I lay out the things I need to improve upon and then thinking I'm blaming it on the AXG. That's basically what you just did. I've went and worked on those issues and I can shoot the AXG a lot better now.
      Additionally, I handled the weapon as safely as I could while using that ammo. I never had an ND because I followed the 3rd rule of firearm safety. I assume you know what that is. When you're going to carry, I assume you're chambering a round, indoors, before you've left your house. Think about that before you try to criticize me for how I handle my weapons.

    • @georgemoore3304
      @georgemoore3304 Месяц назад

      Sad you took it so personally, you came across as “self taught” . Demonstration with live ammo ALWAYS should be on the range. Make ready and holster are not demonstrative exercises. I have no desire to get in a urine stream fencing contest but you did some things that were not kosher in the video.

      @@georgemoore3304 I've received training from multiple sources and it's something I continue to seek out and work on on my own. I'm always trying to improve and that's why I posted a follow-up video to this one.
      Regarding loading the weapon, I think you're missing my point. Regardless of whether it's for the purpose of demonstration or loading and holstering, you're still administratively handling the weapon. the objectives are different but the action is still the same. The risk of something going wrong is equal in both instances. That's why I bring up the 3rd safety rule. That gun is not going to go off unless I deliberately pull the trigger, and that remains true during the loading and holstering process.
