You should, you can use containers if you don't have space on the ground. I have seen many people successfully growing them in containers and grow bags.
I am using drip irrigation and the mould problem is usually as a result of rainfall. We are having a rather confused weather this year. We can't tell if it is Winter, Autumn or Summer.
@@fieldsandskylines7 I offer my sincerest condolences and hope the weather figures itself out soon. I suppose the drip usually does not precipitate mould issues if there is not out-of-season rainfall? I'd also like to apologize on behalf of all residents of the better-developed countries for burning so much coal, oil, and natural gas, which has helped to destabilise the weather patterns you depend on.
@@fieldsandskylines7 Do you grow it? If not, do you think you might? I intend to give it a shot (in Canada!) and I might let you know where I get. I'm also growing a special cultivar of maize, more to grow it out to have more to plant than directly for eating, but this year would be my first experience with both plants.
@@ellenorbjornsdottir1166 not now, but my intention is to start growing it around September. I want to cut down on maize consumption and eat more sorghum. It used to be our staple.
I have some wooden box in which i had my compost done, used to have an open compost pile, but at the moment, no, i dont have it. I am using a combination of chemical and organic fertilizers, and at times i apply manure to my beds.

Interesting!
I may try growing potatoes myself, or maybe not.

I wonder if watering less (!) could help combat the mould problem.

New Subbie 🤗🤗,
I also wonder how well sorghum would grow there, as yet another alternative source of carbohydrates
Sorghum grows very well this side, we used to grow it before being used to eating maize meal, some people still grow it even these days.

Do you have a compost pile? I think you have made a video about it, if you do, but I don't remember.
