I'm gonna techniques again-i love what you did- i tried mine 30 years ago and never finished but I in love what did your project and so I'll try again! Thank you!
Courtenay, I love your teaching style. Your savoir-faire for online quilting teaching delivery is outstanding. Absolutely loved this tutorial and now have the confidence to create a Lone Star quilt…and hopefully many more
I've wanted to learn to make one of these for quite a while now. This star pattern is popular with Native American cultures, and I want so much to try it. While this is the best, easiest tutorial I've found so far, I do understand that it will level up my quilting skills to keep seams aligned that don't nest. I'm so excited to pick my fabric for this one, and I'm not ruling out a christmas theme. Love it, Courtenay!!
O.m.g. msqc you have simplified yet another design. Little waste. Magical instructor. And the advice of slowing down helped out alot. Starch mark pin press (not iron). Great advice. Thank you so much. I'm so grateful to have you.
Courtesy, you are awesome! As part of a mystery quilt, I made my first LoneStar. I watched sections of your video over and over and over again. This was definitely above my skill level, but with your help, I did it. Thank you so much!
Thank you so much for this wonderful class. I did my fist lone star quilt and it has turned out so well so far. The starching and pinning is a great. Helps so much. Thanks again. 48:19
Jenny should be very proud of Courtenay. She did a fabulous job. I've always loved the lone star but have never had the courage to try it. I can't wait to finish my current project so I can make one. Thanks for your fabulous tutorial.
This tutorial was absolutely the best! I am so impressed with Courtenay and her method. I have stayed away from even attempting a Lone Star quilt. Now I will definitely give it a try. Thank You Courtenay!
Hi from Wisconsin. This is the best Lone Star Quilt tutorial I have seen; the humor is so refreshing. Thank you Thank you Courtney, you are an awesome teacher!!!!! Jenny Doran, don’t let this one get away!!!
I love this tutorial. She didn't leave out any steps of the instruction which were fantastic for me because this was my first attempt. I did watch another tutorial and several steps were left out and my first try didn't go so well but Courtney made it very easy
Thank you so so so much , Courtenay you finally made it clear to me how to cut the right size for the background. I made the diamonds about 5 years ago and was afraid to put on to the background. You made me confident to finally finish that quilt. You are wonderful!
I loved this tutorial. Can't wait to make another one....your way... Would love to see a tutorial for a larger Lone Star Quilt. Thanks for a great tutorial.
Thank you Courtenay for a great tutorial, I hope to see from you. I am planning to make a lone star wall hanging for bedroom. My Comforter was ruined so I bought another exactly the same. My curtains and pillows all match. My idea was to use some of the fabric from the old comforter. My color scheme is blues with a soft yellow accent as well :)
This is amazing. I have made many quilts for my family Never made diamond Stars and was worried about it very happy to find this because it really helps a lot I appreciate it thank you very much.
My Great Grandmother gave my mom a huge Lone Star handmade quilt. I would look at it and think, I'll bet there is a way to quilt that without the y-seams. But I don't think I would ever have the nerve to actually try it. Now, I can't wait to start my Lone Star Quilt! Thank you Courtney!
I tried a Lone Star quilt many years ago. Loved the fabric I chose and ended up throwing the attempt away. It's the only quit I ever threw away. Since then I have said I would never even try another one, but after watching this tutorial I am considering it.
So glad I watch this video, you have certainly simplified the making of a lone star quilt, will certainly be adding to my to make list, a big thank you Courtenay and look forward to any more videos of you making a quilt again, stay safe
(Diane)Hello from the Lone Star state. I have been quilting only about 5 years. You have made this pattern seem easier to do. I will have to try it. Thanks "C".
Wonderful tutorial! Courtenay always makes me feel like I can tackle these more challenging patterns. My DIL gave me a beautiful batik jelly roll this summer. I may have found the home for it.
Great to meet Courtenay for the first time. Great to see someone with such clear step by step instructions. I have always loved the look of the lone star quilts, but thought it too difficult. Will definitely have give it a try❤🇦🇺
Courtney I have been using many star patterns and you tube supports in trying to find out more how to trouble shoot. and wow yours added so much to my knowledge and will make some changes on my next star quilt. Your video was easy to watch Thank you.
One of my favorites - I am still a little nervous to try this but I have marked it for one of my 2022 Quilts. So many quilts so little time - I am now scheduling like I do with my reading. Thank you very much and I hope you enjoy many blessings!!!
Courteney, what a fantastic job teaching!!! I can't see myself making one any time soon, but I watched it to the end. REALLY ENJOYED IT. Thank you so much.
This was brilliant ,so clear and so many good tips. I have made one lone star a few years ago and I found it tricky!! , now I know why .....I need to mark and pin and starch. Can't wait to try another . Thank you Courtenay
I did a memory quilt for a friend with this method, but I drew all my squares on the interfacing. It was fun and went well with the piecing. It ended up being about a queen size. I did it like a water color quilt with appliques of butterflies 😊
You are the finest teacher ever! Your choices of fabrics are exemplary for the most beautiful Lone Star I’ve ever seen. I can’t wait to buy some cottage blue cloth….I’m wild for the purple background….such a successful colourway!!! Just yummy. The yellow is magnificent.
Oh wish I knew that little trick with the starch before I started the quilt I’m working on now. Thank you for the lesson , will make thinks easier next time. Gotta love it 😊
This explanation of starch has been a game changer! Some say they starch and I thought 💭 why? What does that do? Is it spending more money for something I should be able to do if I was a better quilter! Thank you for your sharing your knowledge and inspiration. Thank you 💛🇬🇧
Thank you for an excellent tutorial. Courtney you are a wonderful teacher, clear and consice instructions and a cheerful and positive approach. This has really inspired me to make a Lone Star using your pinning method. Thank you x
Best tutorial I have watched!!! I have deep dived into countless videos, blogs etc- you explained very effectively that a new quilter can easily comprehend. I was tempted to buy the interface but didn’t want to spend the money- or cut all those pieces 😊
I used to make lone stars for a living. It never dawned on me to mark the 1/4" seam...lightening bolt! I sure like the sound of that Ever Sewn machine. It's amazingly quiet.
I made one of these quilts a year ago at a quilt retreat, I wish I would have know about this method the marking would have made it so much easy. Also, I didn’t starch my fabric, but it turned of fine. If I make another one, I will definitely follow this tutorial!
Hi from the UK 🇬🇧 This is one of the best tutorials I’ve ever watched, clear, concise and fun to watch!!!! I’m so excited to try my first lone star quilt!!! Thank you and HAPPY BIRTHDAY 🥳!!!

Made up my own method on my first Lonestar. I used strip sets, but this method is so much easier than what I came up with. Not afraid to try another one now! Thanks for the great tutorial.
I just finished my first small Lone Star. I actually did the marking of the 1/4” and pinned even though the instructions didn’t say to. BUT…I didn’t starch well enough, I did use steam and I had to rip a few seams before I started marking those seams, so I ended up with so much distortion AND I ended up cutting a few star points off trying to fix my mess. I swore that was my first and my last Lone Star. Watching this makes me want to try again! Thank you so much!
I have only made one lone star, and after ripping out many seams lol I found this method Courtney used and yes it is the only way to make one ! Love your quilt the colors are gorgeous!
This video is totally awesome because this is my favourite quilt design. Beautifully explained and now on my near bucket list. Thank you so much for sharing. 👍❤️😊
