I’m confused. It sounds like you were saying a P1 capacity will still be 60k a year. This is the same as an F64 which is 100k a year. But is it true the p1 gives you access to all the fabric features? Why would you ever by an F64. Shouldn’t everyone just by the p1 or p2, etc.
Hello, and many thanks! I would like to ask is it possible to do embedding for your customer scenario with F SKU? In that case that would be another gold scenario, that instead of EM1 that costs 700usd, you may use F2 for 260usd
A SKUs are still there, you won't need F64 for embedded, you can do that with F8 which is similar to A1. However, regarding using F2 or F4 for embedded; that is what I am not sure yet and have to run a test and see if possible.
Very interesting thank you for presenting the licensing of Fabric. I just have a question about how can we size correctly the capacity of Fabric in terms of quantity of data or data processing ? For example, if I have 100 reporting BI, 200 dataflows and pipelines and 20 data science workflow, which CU I need for my business ? Thank you in advance.
"Hello, in my organization, we have one Power BI developer and 30 other users who have been added from our Azure ID. Currently, we are using the Fabric trial and now I want to purchase Fabric. Which pricing plan would you suggest as being the most affordable?"
Reza, at 14:15 you compared 50 PPU vs 50 Pro + F2. You said that 50 Pro + F2 were a better option. Ok - the costs are approximately equal, but what about the number of v-cores and the amount of memory? It seems that F2 is too limited vs PPU on shared capacity, is it not?
That would depends on other factors too. I just used an example generally If you have a very large dataset, that large that makes the pricing of OneLake more than PPU for 50, that would make a difference for sure. F2 has limited resources, but gives you Fabric objects, where PPU won't give you Fabric objects. so pros and cons always, depends on what is the requirement at the end.
Thanks, as you mentioned, the consumption is capacity based, if we need to be PRO user and then start the trial ?? Is there any Microsoft offical calculater to calculate the cost during public review?? Thanks.
Hello Thanks for your explanation Reza. When comparing the two videos of yours, the Power BI Licensing Ultimate Guide and Microsoft Fabric Licensing An Ultimate Guide, one difference that i noticed is the storage cost in Fabric. Was there any storage cost for P SKU's licensing for Power BI Premium. Looks like the cost of storage was introduced when the concept of Onelake was introduced in Fabric.
@@RADACAD So if we still have a Premium Capacity (which will automatically be upgraded to a Fabric Capacity after a certain time, according to MS representatives), and we have data stored in it (before storage costs were included in the capacity cost), will MS start charging us for the previously stored data?
So a low capacity scenario. If we took the F2 model, with 2 Power BI pro licenses for developers. Then we have 100 end users that we want to share the reports with. Would we have to purchase power bi pro licenses for the users or could they have free licenses?
Many thanks Reza. If we have Azure Portal for Data Factory and SQL server (not too much data) and also premium license would it be cost saver to move ETL and Server storage to Fabric?
Definitely. when you use ADF and SQL Server separately you are paying for their licenses separately in Fabric you can have all of these under one license SKU
I don't understand storage limit for P1 capacity. Now we pay fix price. Now we can create lakehouse, datawarehouse - will that mean extra cost? Or can we use P1 storage 100 TB?
The internal storage of P1 is for Power BI datasets and dataflows (Power BI objects). If you use Fabric objects, then the storage for those will be calculated based on OneLake storage licensing
Thx for answer. Ok, but now I can create fabric storage without any purchase in P1 workspace. Where can I see how much I will pay? How MS can charge me without purchase? I can not find any official MS doc about this. How would be possible to control business users to load data to fabric storing? Now We have cost under control but this means that our cost will be unpredictable.
Fabric doesn't have the concept of PPU. PPU is just for Power BI objects, where each user has full capabilities to do anything in Power BI. If you purchase a Fabric capacity, even Free users can do anything in Fabric (with the exception for sharing Power BI objects, which then needs F64 or higher)
five PPU users would only cost $100. No Fabric F capacity will be that low. However, using Fabric will give you extra options which you might find handy, if Power BI is not the only thing you want to do (for example, machine learning, real-time streaming etc)
Thanks Reza for this video. Say if I pay monthly F64, Will there be any additional computation cost when I am using workloads in fabric apart from monthly charges? And can I use fabric data items if I am having power bi premium capacity at the same cost of my current P capacity?
No additional computation costs, but additional storage costs and yes, with Power BI Premium you would have Fabric options because your capacity would automatically change to Fabric capacity
@@RADACAD thanks for the clarification but I'm still not sure how the #M365 Fabric Capacity and the #Azure Fabric Capacity will coexist for any given (big) customer like the company I'm working for. I attentively watched and read everything from this RUclips and your blog post so could you give a scenario where it will make sense for a client to keep its M365 F64 licence (currently named P1) and buy additional Azure F64 licences (or any Azure other type of F or RI licences) ? In this "hybrid mode" how is the Power BI / Fabric Workspaces administration will look like ? an Azure Admin could assign Azure Capacity to some specific Fabric Workspaces and an other Admin in PowerPlateform will assign M365 Fabric Capacity to some other workspaces 🤪🤪🤪 ?
Many thanks sir, i have a question about B2B scenarios, is using the lower F SKUs + Power Bi pros still enabling consulting businesses to provide analytical solutions (B2B) products?
What I am confused about is the new file type. Will this replace the pbix or will it run along side and only be available for those with Fabric capacity? Thanks

F64 can be paused ans restarted, p1 cannot
It is just matter of having a longer term contract :)
Many Thanks Reza, This is super helpful to start with costing and understanding the how the golden scenarios can might benefit the client
I am glad it helps

Awesome explanation. We use an enterprise license, an E5, so adding F2 seems like a no brainer to experiment

What kind of organization require higher v cores uptown 256

That is right, Fabric uses OneLake as the storage layer and that comes with the costs extra in addition to capacity pricing

13:40 I assume F2 will be so small that you can't really use it on production. I would probably still go with PPU licenses for small companies
You can try it, you will be surprised
You will be able to load GB bytes of data in a matter of minutes.
So a low capacity scenario. If we took the F2 model, with 2 Power BI pro licenses for developers. Then we have 100 end users that we want to share the reports with. Would we have to purchase power bi pro licenses for the users or could they have free licenses?
with Low F's (below F64), you will need to purchase Pro licenses for sharing capabilities.

Hello, PPU license is equivalent P3 Power Bi SKU. In this case F256 is equivalent to PPU license ?

Hello
what makes me use fabric rather than using each services individually (ADF,powerBI ,etc )
The simplicity and the integrity. And the fact that if you use each service individually, you will end up paying more for licenses.
Thank you so much! Can you please help in showing how can F* capacities be accessed. I created a capacity but not able to access.
you need to assign your workspace to that capacity and then you should be able to use Fabric in that workspace
If I am a PPU five users would I benefit from frabic and what would be my cost?
five PPU users would only cost $100. No Fabric F capacity will be that low. However, using Fabric will give you extra options which you might find handy, if Power BI is not the only thing you want to do (for example, machine learning, real-time streaming etc)

assuming that you will create accounts for customers as Power BI Pro accounts and then use F capacity, yes, that should be possible.

what file type do you mean? if you mean the Fabric objects, they will be added under workspaces, and yes, they can live besides your Power BI objects.
